Why book an afternoon tea and spa package with SpaSeekers?

Nurture your body with heat and water. Nourish it with a treatment. Nibble on something dainty and delectable. Honestly, can you think of a better way to spend the day than with an afternoon tea and spa package from SpaSeekers?

We’re the UK’s longest‑standing spa booking agency, with decades of specialist knowledge and award‑winning customer service under our belts. For almost 40 years we’ve agonised over cucumber-to-sandwich ratios and checked the exact temperature of hot tubs to make sure you get the experience you’re dreaming of. What we don’t know about spas and afternoon teas could fit on a very small postage stamp. Don’t believe us? Check out our afternoon tea guide to find out more.

We offer a wide range of spa breaks and spa days with afternoon tea to suit all budgets and occasions. Planning a birthday treat? Organising a hen do spa and afternoon tea celebration? Spoiling someone for Mother’s Day? Whatever special day you’re marking, we can find you the deal that hits the sweet spot. And for even more time to relax, our afternoon tea spa breaks let you stretch out the indulgence just a little longer.

All you have to do is filter this page using the handy tick boxes. See? It’s as easy as lifting a delicate finger sandwich from a bone‑china carousel…

A few of our favourite spa and afternoon tea experiences

Heart-shaped scones for Valentine’s Day. Spring-themed mini cakes for Mother’s Day. Mulled wine instead of fizz for Christmas. With so many innovative spa and afternoon tea experiences out there, it’s so hard to pick a favourite.

But if you were to twist our arm, we’ve picked out a few we think you might like, from the award-winning to the innovative. Just remember! This is only a small sample of what we offer, so browse our full range to find your perfect spa afternoon tea deal.

Spa and afternoon tea… that’s won awards

Our spa and afternoon tea packages don’t just come groaning with goodies. Many of our most luxurious properties have mantlepieces groaning with awards, too, so you know you’re in for a serious treat!

For an award‑winning afternoon tea in York, The Grand serves a spread so spectacular it was crowned Best Afternoon Tea 2022 by Condé Nast Johansens. Served in The Rise, with views over York’s historic city walls, the Grand Afternoon Tea features delicate finger sandwiches, warm scones and a showstopping selection of patisserie inspired by global flavours.

Or what about an award‑winning afternoon tea in London? Akasha at Hotel Café Royal were proud winners of the Award of Excellence 2025. Why? Because afternoon tea here is served in a Grade II‑listed salon, where mirrored walls, gold leaf and live piano music make the experience as decadent as the pastries themselves.

And the cherry on top? Many of the spa packages at SpaSeekers include these award-winning treats as part of your pampering experience. Just thank us later!

Spa and afternoon tea… with a twist

Times have changed since the seventh Duchess of Bedford retired to her room to eat her bread, butter, and cake in peace. These days, many of our best spas are offering their own innovative takes on the traditional.

Perfect for those who like their afternoon teas with a little spice, at InterContinental London – The O2, the award‑winning team behind Bake Off: The Professionals has created Chai by the Shore at Kinaara – a celebration of Indian flavours crafted with Western patisserie techniques. And with the spa and afternoon spa packages at SpaSeekers, you get to sample their aromatic creations, with time in the luxury spa and a treatment thrown in. What’s not to love?

Head west and you’ll find more Indian‑inspired delights at the Crowne Plaza Reading and Crowne Plaza Marlow, where classic afternoon‑tea favourites sit alongside vibrant, spice‑led creations. It’s the perfect pairing for a spa day – soothing treatments followed by a feast that’s anything but ordinary.

Haggis bon bon, anyone? If you’re dreaming of a spa and afternoon tea in Edinburgh, you might want to take a detour further south. Perthshire’s Dunkeld House Hotel serves up a Highland‑inspired spread full of traditional Scottish savouries. They even serve a whisky blend tea!

Spa and afternoon tea… with added elegance

Want a spa and afternoon tea package that doesn’t skimp on the wow-factor? Some occasions call for the best of the best, and some of our venues really got the memo!

Spa and afternoon tea in Liverpool with a historic feel? It took nine years to lovingly revive the Doubletree by Hilton Liverpool Hotel & Spa back to its former glory. This stately Victorian building makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, so sink into a leather Chesterfield sofa for an afternoon tea for two that’s every bit as indulgent as the setting – and the spa’s not too shabby, either!

For a glamorous afternoon tea in Birmingham, The Belfry is not to be missed. Served in the glitzy Brabazon Bar with its art‑deco bar and shimmering gold accents, afternoon tea here is a full‑blown occasion. Expect seasonally themed treats, inventive savouries like warm sausage rolls dipped in mango chutney, and dozens of blends curated by a trained tea sommelier. If your spa package doesn’t include afternoon tea, there’s absolutely nothing stopping you booking it while you’re there. And trust us, you’ll want to.

Nothing says ‘sophisticated spa day’ quite like an iconic five-star hotel. So for a glitzy afternoon tea in Glasgow, there’s nowhere finer than Kimpton Blythswood Square. Made up of a row of Georgian townhouses in one of the city’s most famous squares, it makes a suitably historic backdrop for afternoon tea and spa packages. If you like the finer things in life, you’ll love the newly-refurbished basement spa with its hydrotherapy pools, aromatherapy saunas and crystal steam rooms. It’s even home to Scotland’s first snow shower!

Spa treatments you can expect

Spa and afternoon tea packages aren’t just about eating your body‑weight in pastry or working your way through a few too many flutes of Champagne. They’re also about taking care of number one – and yes, we do mean you. Because these experiences take place at some of our finest spas, the treatments are every bit as tempting as the patisserie.

What’s included will depend on the package you choose, of course. But here are a few highlights to give you a flavour of what’s in store…

Manicure: You want your nails to look nice when you’re lifting a scone. And at Kent’s award-winning Rowhill Grange, they’ve thought of that. Afternoon tea and spa deals here let you choose an OPI manicure as part of the deal, so you can enjoy your treats with perfectly polished fingertips.

Facial: At Old Thorns Hotel & Resort you don’t just get spa access and afternoon tea with all the trimmings. You can also enjoy the Templespa My Kinda Facial, a completely bespoke treatment tailored to your skin type. You’ll be glowing long before the cakes arrive!

Body wrap: Thought afternoon tea was decadent? Just wait until you’re coccooned in warm, purifying mud! At Thorpe Park Hotel & Spa in Leeds, some afternoon tea and spa packages include a 50‑minute body ritual, to leave you feeling as light as the dainty finger sarnies.

Pregnancy ritual: If there’s ever a time you deserve to be spoiled, it’s when you’re growing an actual human. At The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa in Bath, you can enjoy afternoon tea, time in the spa and the Comforting Ritual – a pregnancy‑specific full‑body massage designed to nurture you and your bump (suitable after the first trimester).

Men’s grooming ritual: Real men know a good scone when they see one. At the Best Western Premier Heronston Hotel & Spa in Cardiff, the Schmoo for Him Spa Experience pairs afternoon tea with a back tonic: a deep exfoliation, a mineral mud mask and a tension‑melting massage for the back and legs. Pampering level: elite.

Should you have your afternoon tea before or after the spa?

If you get the choice, we’d usually say: spa first, scones second. That way you can get stuck into your three tiers at a more leisurely pace. Trust us. It’s better to have a swim and enjoy a full‑body massage without the belly full of clotted cream.

The ideal timing for your afternoon tea also comes down to how glammed‑up you want to get. At some of our more luxurious venues (like The Grand, York or Hotel Café Royal) afternoon tea is served in seriously swanky surroundings. You’ll definitely feel more comfortable in at least smart‑casual attire, rather than a robe and flip‑flops. So if you prefer to look the part, you might choose to dine before you hit the spa, while you’re still perfectly put‑together.

It also depends on the package you’ve booked. If you’re on an overnight spa break, you might enjoy your afternoon tea on the day you arrive. For full‑day or half‑day spa and afternoon tea packages, the order is usually set by the spa’s schedule and your treatment times.

If you’re particular about when you’d like to tuck in, it’s always worth checking with us or contacting the spa ahead of time. A quick call can work wonders, especially if you have any special requests or a strong opinion about when you’d ideally like your scones and fizz to be served.

Book your afternoon tea and spa day

If all this talk of scones and self-care has you craving your own escape, now’s your moment. Snap up your ideal spa and afternoon tea deal with our easy-online booking system. Still can’t decide? Buy an afternoon tea voucher and treat future‑you to something fabulous.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I customise my afternoon tea experience?

Absolutely! When you book your afternoon tea and spa experience, keep an eye out for the ‘Upgrades and Extras’ section. This lets you add goodies to make your package feel even more personal. Options depend on the spa day or break you’re choosing, but may include flutes of fizz, extra treatments or savoury afternoon teas instead of sweet.

What time is afternoon tea?

Everything stops for the great British tradition… but when, exactly? Well, legend has it that Anna, the Duchess of Bedford, invented afternoon tea in the 1840s because she kept getting “a sinking feeling” around 4pm. Her solution? A sneaky mid‑afternoon spread of tea, bread and cake to tide her over until dinner. A woman after our own hearts.

These days, though, there’s no strict rule. Most of our venues serve afternoon tea between late morning and late afternoon, with exact times varying depending on the spa and the package you’ve booked. Some offer set sittings, others let you choose your slot.

If you’ve got a particular time in mind for your scones-and-sparkle moment, just check the details when booking or give us (or the spa) a quick call. We’ll endeavour to make sure your tea arrives precisely when you want it.

What’s in an afternoon tea at a spa?

A traditional afternoon tea includes dainty finger sandwiches with fillings like cucumber, smoked salmon or egg mayo. There’ll be warm scones with clotted cream and jam, and a top tier piled high with mini cakes and pastries. It’s all washed down with a pot of loose‑leaf tea (there may even be a tea menu if you’re somewhere fancy) or a cheeky glass of fizz if you’re making a day of it.

But these days, many of our spas like to put their own spin on the classic. At InterContinental London – The O2, you’ll find Chai by the Shore – an Indian‑inspired afternoon tea bursting with aromatic spices and patisserie crafted by the winners of Bake Off: The Professionals.

Head north to Dunkeld House Hotel and you’ll be treated to a Scottish twist, complete with haggis bon bons and even a whisky‑blend tea. And over at Tre‑Ysgawen Hall Country House Hotel & Spa in Anglesey, your tiers come with some home-baked charm, courtesy of freshly baked Welsh cakes.

Seasonal menus are also a big deal. Come Christmas, many spas swap the strawberries for mince pies, add mulled wine to the drinks list and add plenty of gingerbread, spiced bakes and cinnamon.

In short: expect the classics, but don’t be surprised if your spa throws in a delicious twist or two. It’s all part of the fun

What should you wear to an afternoon tea and spa day?

The short answer is: it depends where you’re going, and how glam you want to feel. Some spas keep things robed and relaxed, and no one will bat an eyelid if your hair’s still doing its ‘post‑steam‑room thing’.

But at five-star venues, you’ll probably feel more comfortable if you level up. Dress codes vary from spa to spa, so how do you know? We’ve thought of that! We include dress code information in the ‘Details’ section of all our venue pages. You’ll find it under ‘Dress for lunch’. But if you’re still not sure, it’s best to check with the individual venue.

Need more help? Our what to wear to a spa guide has all the answers.

Can I buy a spa and afternoon tea voucher as a gift?

You sure can – and gifting one will win you some serious brownie points. Just choose the package you like and in the “Make a Booking” section, select “buy a voucher instead”. The afternoon tea and spa day is theirs to redeem whenever they like (subject to availability).

Prefer to keep things flexible? Go for a monetary spa and afternoon tea voucher (starting from £25), which the lucky recipient can use towards any package on our site. You get to choose when the 12-month validity kicks in, add a personal message and even pick delivery by email or post (straight to them or to you). Once received, the voucher works like a spa gift card, ready to be redeemed online or by contacting our customer service team.

Need more help with afternoon tea gift vouchers? Take a look at our Spa Vouchers: Frequently Asked Questions page.

Do I need to bring anything?

Most afternoon tea and spa deals include access to some fabulous heat and hydro facilities, so don’t forget your swimwear! And if your package includes an overnight stay, some venues feature well-equipped fitness suites too, so pack your snazziest leggings.

If you’re planning to get glammed up to eat your afternoon tea, you’ll need your best smart-casual wear. These packages take place in some of the UK’s swankiest spas, so you might want to dress to impress!

Find out more in our guides to what to expect on your first ever spa visit. You can also contact us if you have any questions.
