Getting away from it all is easy here. Even the journey is relaxing, as it takes you through Dunkeld, Perthshire’s prettiest village, through a stone arch and down the hotel’s sweeping, one-mile drive, complete with fields full of frolicking deer.
And then there’s the Grade II listed mansion itself. Although there is an outside entrance to the spa for those who are coming for a day package, it’s worth taking a quick peek at the former country home of the Dukes of Atholl if only to admire the famous stained glass window.
A tree-lined path leads from the hotel down to the banks of the glorious River Tay. Follow it for a mile further and you’ll reach the centre of Dunkeld. Be sure to set aside some time to explore independent shops and cafes, while Dunkeld Cathedral and Blair Castle are both within easy reach. The Tay Forest Park is ideal for a long, lazy walk amid the most picturesque scenery, while a little further afield you’ll find the fascinating Scone Palace. Bring your walking boots because the hotel has 280 acres to explore, with walks along the River Tay to Dunkeld village a particular favourite. Called the Dunkeld Tree Trail, the easy, circular 2 mile trail takes you through magical woodland to the pretty village of Dunkeld, and back again. A great way to work up an appetite before your afternoon tea.
Prefer to travel by two wheels? Try road or off-road cycling using the hotel as your base. Here you can easily access one of Scotland’s finest routes along the 100 mile non-stop cycle path.

How to get to the Spa?
By train: Dunkeld & Birman train station is around 1.3 miles away for trains from Edinburgh and Glasgow, a journey of about an hour and a half. It’s a five-minute taxi ride from the station to the hotel.
By bus: Buses run throughout the village - the nearest stop is at Rose Cottage, a short drive from the hotel and spa.
By car: From Edinburgh take the M90 towards Perth. From Glasgow, take the M80 towards Stirling/Perth. The postcode for your sat nav is PH8 0HX.
Parking: Complimentary parking spaces are available for guests. They also have eight electric vehicle charging points.

Staff were very welcoming and explained all the facilities. The treatments were very relaxing - a back massage and facial although they were very "soft" in terms of what I usually get in the way of a massage and facial. I still enjoyed the experience and made full use of the pool and facilities after afternoon tea. The tea itself was good - although the scones especially the gluten free were a bit tough (the gluten free could have been used as hockey pucks!). Staff were all friendly and attentive so no complaints. In all a nice relaxing day.

The actual spa experience was really good. We really enjoyed it and the staff were great. The afternoon tea was really disappointing, the service was terrible. The waiter then spilled a drink (which of course was an accident which is fine) however it went all over my partners bag and jacket. The waiter cleaned underneath my girlfriends jacket further soaking it. He apologised which of course we understand but then no staff came near us for the rest of our time there, not to offer us drinks or not to check how things were.

We got a lovely welcome from reception and enjoyed the pool, sauna, steam room and, of course, the view. The spa was lovely and quiet and relaxing. We then had facials, which were fantastic and very professionally done. Finally, a superb afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings. The only tiny issue was no shampoo or conditioner in the showers - not great after a head massage with oil. But having to wash my hair with body wash was a small price to pay for such a fantastic afternoon.
