About

Time you paid a visit to Aberdeen? As Scotland's third-largest metropolis, it has a two-mile stretch of sandy beach, sparkling architecture and a history to rival Edinburgh. But when you’ve finished soaking up the culture at Granite City you can soak up an experience of an altogether more luxurious kind, thanks to the city’s multi-award-winning Granite Spa.

Recently named Spa of the Year by the Official Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards for the second year in a row, this tranquil retreat is tucked away in the Bridge of Don, just a few miles from the city centre. Take a deep breath and drop your shoulders because with two hot tubs, one infrared sauna warm and a rainfall shower, this spa sanctuary offers the ultimate in urban rest and recuperation.

There are so many things to experience in the local area, too. Aberdeen’s golden sands beckon for an invigorating stroll. Direct your feet to the historic fishing village of Footdee to photograph its quirky fishermen’s outhouses, or just look out to sea to see if you can spot a dolphin. Mooch around the independent boutiques in Thistle and Chapel Street, or view the street art on the Nuart Trail – it takes about an hour and the giant leopard on Crooked Lane is a highlight.

But when you’re tired of the hustle and bustle, The Granite Spa will be your oasis of calm. This one-stop beauty salon, spa and sanctuary boasts four sublime treatment rooms, including a shared couples’ suite for those much-needed get-togethers. So pamper with a treatment from the menu of rituals. Soak up the heat with a hot tub or sauna session. And to make your experience even more sparkling, there’s even the option to bring your own bubbly!

The Spa & Wellness at The Granite Spa

Thought nothing could beat the pure air and stress-busting scenery of Scotland for sheer relaxation? What about enjoying all that, and being pampered in an award-winning day spa at the same time?

Situated just north of Aberdeen, this is the perfect urban oasis, for couples, celebrations or for small groups of friends. There’s nothing to do but wind down as you sink back into the toasty waters of the hot tub, have a blast in the rainfall shower or take a trip to the infrared sauna.

Unlike traditional saunas which heat the air around you, infrared saunas use special lamps to directly warm your body. Fans of infrared saunas claim this deeper heat penetration allows you to sweat more intensely at a lower overall temperature, making the experience altogether more comfortable.

Wrap yourself in your fluffy towel and robe, then pad through to the wonderfully spacious treatment rooms for a soul-soothing, wellness-enhancing ritual. Here with someone special? Enjoy the experience together - massages are much more fun when there’s two of you.

Take a moment to breathe the scented air while therapists work their magic. But will you choose a body wrap, facial or a hot stone massage?

The Gym & Fitness at The Granite Spa

Fitness fanatic? While there’s no gym at The Granite Spa, it does have an infrared sauna which (according to its fans) is meant to rev up your metabolism and burn a fair few calories!

If you prefer the real deal, Aberdeen is full of fitness facilities, and many of them let you buy a day pass to use them. For day passes to Aberdeen gyms, you should expect to pay between £9 for basic options, up £16 for something top-of-the range.

For example, just a mile and a half from The Granite Spa’s front door you’ll find Get Active at Jesmond. A day pass here costs £7.20, but it has an impressive 60- station gym, two fitness studios for classes and a dedicated immersive spin studio.

If walking’s more your style, there’s so much to see in the local area that there’s no excuse not to get your step count in for the day. The Granite Spa is close to the River of Don, where you can take the Donside Heritage Trail to explore the river’s nature and rich history as you work up a sweat.

Restaurants & Food at The Granite Spa

While The Granite Spa doesn’t have its own restaurant, this boutique bolthole does offer hot and cold refreshments to ensure you’re well-hydrated as you soak in the spa. In the mood for something a little more blonde and bubbly? You can bring your own bottle of fizz along to the spa sanctuary if you ask in advance - and a corkage fee applies.

When it comes to food, Aberdeen won’t disappoint. This windswept coastal Scottish city is home to a wide spectrum of global and local cuisines, as well as some of the best seafood in the country - you won’t have to go too far to dine on freshly-caught langoustines, lobsters and scallops.

Street food fan? Head to the food trucks parked up at Aberdeen Beach. Or pay a visit to buzzing Shiprow Village. Set on one of the oldest streets in Aberdeen, this former trade hotspot now houses fish markets, grocers and vintners, along with restaurants, bars and pop-ups.
