About
Sherwood Forest is a must-see destination for those on the Robin Hood trail. But after a day of exploring, gather your merry band of besties and decamp to the fabulous Muthu Clumber Park. This relaxing retreat nestles in Nottinghamshire countryside right on the edge of the spectacular Clumber Park. And with a tranquil pool, top-notch treatments and thermal suite, it has plenty of ways to revive even the most weary Maid Marions.
Relax body and soul at New Leaf Spa, where you can curl up on a poolside lounger, warmed by rays of sunshine streaming in through floor-to-ceiling windows. Bask in the hot tub, sauna and steam room, before a ritual based on the power of nature. Hit the gym for a top-to-toe workout, then replenish lost calories with an afternoon tea at the Normanton Inn. And when it’s time to call it a night, 73 stylish bedrooms await.
There’s no need to stray too far from your luxurious surroundings to go sightseeing in the hotel’s namesake. Just a two-minute walk away, the National Trust’s Clumber Park, was once part of Sherwood Forest until it was sectioned off to become a hunting park for Queen Anne in 1707. Different generations added their own stamp - a chapel here, a lake and a walled garden there - until it became one of the loveliest areas of greenery to visit in England.
But if that’s not enough sightseeing for you, why not take a trip to nearby Sherwood Forest Country Park? Visit the legendary home of Robin Hood and take a woodland walk to the Major Oak. Step back in time at Mr Straw’s House in Worksop, the preserved home of a grocer's family, virtually unchanged since 1923. Or swap history for bright lights and retail therapy, because the vibrant cities of Sheffield and Nottingham are both within striking distance.

From arriving to leaving we had a lovely day. This was as a result of every staff member we encountered. Friendly, helpful and professional staff that made our day relaxing. Afternoon tea was great and excellent value. Spa facilities were great. Will definitely be returning.

Though very basic facilities for a spa experience, compared to other Spa days I have had, I throughly enjoyed my time there. Right from the booking process, which I made last minute, to the time spent there, the helpfulness & friendless of the staff is excellent. My visit was to join my sister and our mum as a surprise birthday treat as they live close by and was mainly booked for our mum to get to go for a swim, her first in over 20 years & to enjoy an afternoon tea. We also booked for her to have a 25 minute facial. The beautician was excellent, mums first facial at 79 years old, she was throughly looked after and came out beaming. Overall a very enjoyable day. Thank you again, we will be back.

Highly recommend. I read previous reviews so was dubious but booked anyway. Yes it is a little tired in places in the spa pool area, but it didn’t actually affect my use of the facilities or my overall experience, and it certainly doesn’t deserve a lot of the bad reviews previously written! Although others have stated they have had some negative experiences, I found the facilities to be good value for the money and all the staff I spoke to were very pleasant and extremely helpful! It was absolutely worth £20 for the basic spa day and I’d definitely go back for another reset and rest in the future! Worth mentioning too that although I hadn’t booked accommodation I saw the rooms as I walked through the hallway and they looked very nice, smart and clean. I wouldn’t have a problem staying there. If you’re on the fence like I was initially just go for it. I had a lovely day and will definitely go back again.

Arrived to spa receptionist is lovely, got given a towel and robe, can I just say can we please be given a choice of sizes on robes not everyone fits the same size so I couldn’t wear mine. Went to the gym first, very small for a prestigious hotel, the treadmill didn’t work at all, some of the machines looked very tired and rusty, but what I did use was good. I love that the lockers are free, disappointing there was no changing cubicles, the pool was lovely and warm, warmer than Hellaby Hall pool and Bannatynes. I love that there is loungers so you can take a book and stay as long as you like. There was signs up about no mobile phones in the pool area but no one took notice of this and everyone had there phones out when on the loungers. No one took notice enforce rule as receptionist was also on her phone too most of the time. Will definitely return with friends and stay longer next time.
