Welcome to the fourth annual SpaSeekers.com Spa Trends Report, your trusted guide to the ever evolving world of wellness. Since launching our first report in 2023, we’ve continued to explore the latest shifts in spa culture by analysing consumer behaviours, social media trends and internal booking data.

This year’s report reveals what’s hot (and what’s not) in spa treatments and experiences for 2026, including which spa destinations are on the rise, from the most in-demand countries and cities, to the most booked spas in the UK.

The Top Trending Spa Treatments and Experiences of 2026

  • The top spa trend for 2026 is Korean glass skin facials, rising in interest by 140%
  • Other top trends include cactus massages, biohacking spas and buccal massages

From high-tech wellness to botanical inspired therapies, 2026 is a year of contrasts when it comes to spa treatments. Futuristic biohacking sits beside age-old rituals like cactus massages, while long standing favourites such as beer baths continue to hold their space in the spa hall of fame.

Taking the top spot in 2026 is the Korean glass skin facial, with a 140% rise in search interest. The trend, inspired by the K-beauty movement of luminous, hydrated, and poreless skin, uses a multi step treatment to hydrate, gently exfoliate, even skin tone and boost collagen. Maddie Cridge, Spa Therapist at SpaSeekers.com comments:

“Glass skin facials are part of a long-term skincare approach, using gentle yet effective ingredients. Korean skincare reflects a shift towards a slower pace of skincare, focussing on preventative and nurturing measures rather than a quick fix.”

Coming in as the second top trend for 2026, biohacking has piqued the interest of health and tech fans alike with a 100% yearly search increase. Innovations in the space like infrared heat, LED light therapy, and frequency based stimulation are used to optimise cellular repair, boost circulation and enhance longevity. Elizabeth Bogue at Cloud Twelve Club Spa & Wellness, Notting Hill, explains,

“Biohacking isn’t about relaxation alone, it’s about enhancing bodily systems at the deepest level, using targeted technologies to support the body’s natural repair processes.”

A surprising addition to the list is the cactus massage, though it may sound like a painful acupuncture session, it’s in fact the opposite. Derived from traditional Mexican practices using nopal cactus leaves (after carefully removing the spines), this deep hydrating massage uses cactus pulp and juices for their antioxidant properties, moisturising and soothing the skin.

As conversations around menopause become more open, spa treatments tailored specifically for this life transition have surged. The menopause massage, designed to relieve tension, improve sleep and support emotional balance, rose by 83% in search interest. Maddie Cridge adds,

“Menopause impacts every woman differently, that’s why spa packages like ‘Your Best You’ at Harbour Hotel & Spas across the UK are catered towards women tackling menopause, by promoting relaxation and recovery at every stage.”

The buccal massage, a facial technique that works deep muscle layers via intra-oral movements, and beef tallow skincare have both surged in popularity by 83% following viral exposure on social media.

Buccal massages have a range of benefits, from relieving tension to help with TMJ pain and improving circulation to reducing inflammation and giving the face a more naturally sculpted look. Beef tallow is a cow fat rich in nutrients, such as vitamins A, D, K, E, and B12, used in skincare to hydrate and moisturise the skin.

After declining in searches between 2024 and 2025, bee venom therapy is making a comeback with a 50% year on year rise. This unique treatment applies purified bee venom to targeted areas of the body to help reduce inflammation and ease symptoms of chronic pain. The therapy blends nature with wellness science, gaining traction in the holistic spa space.

Also continuing to rise in popularity are health spas (49%), relaxation spas (49%) and beer bath spas (56%), all of which featured highly in last year's report. Joining them is the Japanese head spa, which topped the trends list at the close of 2024 and still features in this year’s rankings, with a modest 48% rise. These scalp treatments, known for their gentle massage, acupressure and deep cleansing, remain in demand with social media appeal staying strong and many spas starting to offer the treatment.

Sleep focused spa experiences such as sleep retreats (81%) and sleep syncing (69%) reflect a broader shift in relaxation, emphasising the importance of sleep when it comes to our health. Meanwhile, forest bathing (55%) and snow spas (53%) highlight a continued interest in destination and nature based wellness retreats.

The Spa Treatments and Experiences Declining in Popularity in 2026

sara-johnston-wSO8ECvI-dA-unsplash
  • Paraffin body wraps are the spa trends seeing the biggest decrease in interest for 2026
  • Other spa trends falling out of favour include crystal reiki and vaginal steaming

While many treatments continue to surge in popularity, our research also revealed a list of spa experiences losing traction as we head into the new year. As consumer demand evolves, these once viral skincare fixes and experiences have seen a significant decline, with search volume dropping year on year.

Leading the decline in 2026 are paraffin body wraps, with searches down by 50%. The treatment that was once considered a luxurious option for deep moisturisation are becoming forgotten as people lean towards more modern, clean and tech-forward treatments.

Maddie comments:

“Paraffin body wraps continue to be a popular treatment for many spa-goers, however for some the process has its drawbacks. As we see a rise in other treatments offering similar hydrating benefits, paraffin has less of a draw than it used to.”

Another declining spa experience is crystal healing massages, down 48% in searches year-on-year. Slowing down for the second year running, this hints that some mystical and energy based wellness trends are losing their mass appeal, with spa-goers opting for more physical and results-based treatments. Especially as alongside this, crystal reiki is also on the decline (-34%).

Vaginal steaming, also known as a yoni steam, is also on the decline for a second year running (-45%) after previously featuring as one of the top trending treatments in our 2023 Spa Trends Report. Yoni steaming is a traditional, natural remedy used to cleanse the womb and uterus. It is said to regulate menstruation, and help to reduce period pain. The process, once viral on social media, has faced scrutiny for potential health and safety risks, which may well be one of the reasons less people are searching for it.

As we move into 2026, our data predicts a notable decline in novelty-driven spa experiences, with many treatments that started life on social media, losing out to science-backed skincare. Treatments such as kombucha facials (-25%), gold facials (-19%), turmeric face masks (-20%) and snail facials (-19%), once had significant social buzz but are now seeing drops in mainstream interest.

Maddie comments:

“Savvy consumers are increasingly seeking treatments that deliver real tangible results. While there is always room for creativity in the spa space, it’s obvious people are now more informed and looking for experiences that balance indulgence with impact.”

For travellers looking to venture further afield for relaxation, there is no shortage of spa destinations to discover across the globe. From wellness retreats to mountain landscapes, many countries boast vibrant spa cultures, making them perfect destinations for those seeking rest and rejuvenation.

  • Other Chinese cities such as Shenzhen, Beijing and Guangzhou are also trending for 2026
  • Bucharest, Sofia and Florence also rank as top spa cities for 2026

This year, we also wanted to dive a little deeper than a country-by-country level and understand which cities in particular are seeing the fastest-growing interest in spa breaks. To do this, we analysed search data for ‘spa in [CITY]’ across major cities worldwide.

The results reveal that Shanghai tops the rankings with a 67% surge in searches. China’s largest city is rapidly emerging as a global wellness hub, seamlessly blending spa concepts with traditional Chinese healing therapies. Its famous 24-hour spa culture has also captured enormous attention on social media, offering restorative treatments at any hour of the day. The UK Cities Booking the Most Spa Breaks

  • Residents from London book the most spa breaks
  • Other cities that love a trip to the spa include Manchester and Leeds

But which cities are booking the most spa breaks? Residents from across the UK continued to book spa breaks with us throughout 2025, so just as we did last year, we delved into the numbers to uncover which city is home to the country’s biggest spa enthusiasts.

This year, London once again takes the top spot, with residents of the capital booking more spa getaways than any other UK city. While London offers endless opportunities for work, culture and leisure, its famously fast-paced lifestyle can leave many craving a chance to unwind.

In second and third place are Manchester and Birmingham, securing their place among the nation’s most committed spa lovers for the second year in row. The consistency of these major cities reflects a growing national desire to prioritise wellbeing and take restorative time out from everyday pressures.

Leeds and Sheffield complete the top five, with Sheffield climbing into a stronger position compared to last year’s results. Meanwhile, Liverpool (a top performer in previous years) now sits in sixth place, suggesting a slight shift in booking behaviour as other cities rise in the rankings.

Rounding out the top ten are Bristol, Southampton, Glasgow and Coventry, each demonstrating that the appeal of a blissful spa escape is truly nationwide.

Self-care-trends
  • Viral TikTok ‘morning shed’ routine set to dominate self care in 2026, with a 815% increase in interest
  • Other self care trends that will be big in 2026 include wellness stacking and sleepmaxxing

As well as uncovering the top trending spa treatments, experiences and locations, we also wanted to understand how people are weaving self-care into their everyday routines when they’re not at the spa.

To do this, we once again explored year-on-year Google search data, and found that this year’s fastest-growing self-care trend is none other than ‘morning sheds’, which have seen a huge 815% year-on-year rise in searches.

Caught thinking a ‘morning shed’ is a gardening term? This practice is in fact a viral TikTok beauty trend where users apply excessive skincare including face tape, chin straps, lip tints, hair tools and spot patches overnight, then dramatically remove them in the morning to reveal seemingly glowing and a ‘snatched’ finish. The trend promotes the idea of ‘going to bed ugly to wake up pretty’.

In second place is another bedtime routine related trend, with ‘sleepmaxxing’, up 662%. With more people prioritising rest as the foundation of wellbeing, this trend focuses on optimising sleep quality through routines, gadgets and designing your bedroom environment to promote deeper, more restorative rest.

The ‘vagus nerve reset’ takes the third spot, with a 309% increase in interest. This growing area of interest centres on techniques from breathwork to cold exposure that stimulate the vagus nerve to regulate stress and support emotional balance.

Other popular trends reflect the rise of comfort-focused practices like ‘cozymaxxing’ (+179%), nutritional interests such as anti-inflammatory drinks and protein coffee, and the ongoing fascination with beef tallow in moisturisers and SPF.

Micro-habits are also gaining momentum, with micro-gratitude increasing in searches, alongside quick daily resets like plunging your face in ice water and performing at-home lymphatic drainage.

Movement-based self-care continues to grow, too. Both soft pilates (+51%) and Reformer Pilates (+50%) remain popular for their gentle yet strengthening benefits, while walking pads have surged by 50% as people look for convenient ways to stay active at home.

Finally, creative and aesthetic trends remain firmly rooted in the wellbeing landscape. Vision boards, heatless sock curls, face taping and dry brushing all demonstrate how people are embracing strategies that help them feel more grounded, motivated or simply good in their skin - be it at the spa or at home.
