While spas are the perfect setting for some much-needed “me” time, they also provide a great setting for relaxing with friends and family. So, in this guide we look at group spa day and spa break packages and highlight some popular group spa treatments.

Why we love group spa breaks and spa days

A spa day with friends or family is a good way to get everyone together for a few hours of socialising and relaxation. If you want even more together time, a group spa break offers a one or two-night escape that promises to be an occasion to remember, for all the right reasons.

Many of our spas are in lovely countryside locations, making them tranquil retreats for your whole party to enjoy. Others are in convenient town and city centres ideal for a group get-together or to enjoy as part of a longer stay.

The inclusions in a group spa package will vary, but often feature one or more treatments – either inclusive or chosen from a menu – plus access to the spa’s leisure facilities, which may include a swimming pool, hot tub, and sauna/steam room. Spa breaks also come with overnight accommodation and, usually, breakfast.

Types of group spa days and breaks

There are lots of spa break and spa day packages for groups available. These include general packages that you can enjoy at any time and those tailored for different occasions, such as:

- special celebrations (Mother’s Day and baby showers, etc.)

- girls-only getaways

- hen parties

There are also spa days and breaks designed especially for couples, either romantic experiences with a partner or simply some indulgence shared with a friend or family member.

When a spa offers a group package, it often sets a minimum and/or maximum number of guests. Always check with us at the time of booking, so we can make sure the spa you choose can accommodate your party size.

Best group spa treatments

If you book a group spa day or break, you are likely to have a choice of at least one treatment. Most of the treatments will be individual, such as a pedicure, facial or massage. However, group spa treatments on offer may include:

- Rasul (or Rhassoul) mud treatment: This non-therapist treatment involves applying nourishing purified mud to your body as you relax in a communal steam room. Find out more in our Rasul (or Rhassoul) mud treatment guide.

- Twin treatments for couples: Some spas feature dual treatment rooms, in which you can enjoy a treatment, such as a massage, side-by-side with a partner or friend. Find out more in our massages for couples guide.

- Thermal spa experiences: Some spas offer thermal suites, in which you and your group can experience the benefits of extreme temperatures (such as a steam room and ice cave). Find out more in our guide to thermal spas.

Top tips for spa breaks and spa days with friends and family

To help you plan the perfect spa break or spa day for a group, here are a few tips:

Make sure everyone is free: Before booking, make sure your whole party is available to travel on the day and is free for the duration of the package, as refunds after booking might not be possible.

Let the spa know about any special requirements: If any of your group has special requirements, such as dietary needs, allergies, health issues or is pregnant, etc., tell us and the spa ahead of time to ensure everyone can be accommodated.

Keep everyone in the loop about timings: If you’re all travelling to the venue separately, let the party know about hotel check in times, treatment times and included meals, so everyone knows what’s happening (and no-one misses out on their treatment).

Know what to bring (and what to leave behind): Make sure your whole party arrives with swimwear and, if dining, something smart to wear in the restaurant. Spas are an electronics-free zone.

Check the inclusions: Each group spa package will come with its own inclusions, so ensure you understand what you can look forward to before booking. For example, if you’re seeking a friends’ massage package, make sure this treatment is available with your chosen group spa day or break.

For more, take a look at our FAQ guides, which cover many of the most common issues and questions, such as what to wear to a spa and what to expect on your first spa visit.

Spas for hen partiesSpas for hen parties

Maybe the ultimate group spa experience, hen party spa breaks and spa days can be a standalone celebration or the perfect complement to a more full-on pre-wedding bash. A few hours, or even a couple of days, chilling out at a spa can be a great way to relax with friends, enjoy some pampering and prepare for the big day.

Many of our spas offer specific hen party packages, which come with a range of treatments, access to the leisure facilities and other goodies, such as a glass of fizz (inclusions vary). Overnight breaks will include accommodation and food options. Find out more in our guide to hen party spa breaks.

How to gift a group spa day

If you would like to gift a group spa package, we have several great options. The most flexible is the monetary spa voucher. Simply choose an amount and the recipient will receive a voucher that can be redeemed against packages on our site. Alternatively, you can select ‘Buy a voucher instead?’ on our individual package pages to receive a voucher for that specific package.

Finally, for groups of six or more, we offer a voucher for a Group Pamper Day at selected locations. The package includes a facial, a back, neck and shoulders massage, a light lunch and full use of the spa’s leisure facilities.
