The Leisure Club boasts a gym with a large range of fit kit. Work up a sweat on the cardiovascular machines, lift weights or have a go on the conditioning equipment. There’s also an air conditioned spinning and aerobics studio (additional charges apply).

Shake off your stress at Zumba, or try body combat, yoga, or pilates. But if you prefer your exercise to come with lungfuls of fresh air, tee off to the golf course. Not only are there 18 tricky holes master, you’ll find ‘Get Into Golf’ taster sessions to encourage those who are new to the sport.

If golf’s not your thing, the Lancashire countryside is perfect for hiking, strolling or power walking. A seven-minute drive takes you to Cuerden Valley Park which has 650 acres of stunning woodland walks to explore.

It ‘shaw’ does! And if all that pampering has worked up an appetite you’re in luck, because the hotel’s ‘Classic’ afternoon tea is filling. Served every day between 12pm and 5pm, you’ll start with chef’s soup of the day served with savoury pastries such as cheese scones and sausage rolls. Next follows a selection of dainty sandwiches before the main event - homemade scones and tempting cakes. There’s even a children’s afternoon tea on offer for your spa-loving mini me’s.

Yes there is. This boutique bolthole has 30 individually styled bedrooms set over three floors, and many come with spectacular views over the rolling greens of the golf course. Choose from Standard double or twin bedrooms, the larger Shaw Hill Rooms and Deluxe suites crammed with period features. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, en suite bathrooms, free WiFi and Leisure Club access.

Here on an overnight stay at the Shaw Hill Hotel? You can check in from 3pm, while check-out is before 10.30am on your day of departure. For spa packages, arrival times vary so check your booking confirmation.

Yes it is. The leisure centre reception is on the ground floor with level access, while the upstairs can be accessed by a lift. Toilets are on the ground floor and accessible toilets are on the first floor accessible via the lift

At the hotel, accommodation is set over three floors, with a spiral staircase. Should you have difficulty with stairs, ground floor rooms are available.

This wow-facor wellness retreat is situated in the Shaw Hill Golf & Spa Hotel, with a pin-drop peaceful setting thanks to the undulating greens of the hotel’s golf course. In the village of Whittle-Le-Woods, the hotel is a short, three-mile drive north of Chorley, with its bustling town centre, historic halls and famous Chorley Markets. It also offers easy access to Preston, the pretty city that’s just 20 minutes from the coast, 45 minutes from Manchester or Liverpool, and 45 minutes from the Lake District.

Shaw Hill Golf & Spa Hotel has been owned by the Tyrer/Stokes family for nearly 30 years, and you’ll often see them around the hotel.

While you have to be aged 16 or over to have treatments in the tranquil spa, children can use the swimming pool as long as there’s an adult with them. Children under the age of 15 can’t use the Jacuzzi, sauna or steam room.

Furry friends of any kind are not allowed in the spa itself, or at the hotel, no matter how much of a good boy they are.

This is a paradise for lovers of the sport of kings and if you’re an overnight guest you can enjoy half-price green fees - just ask at reception. Don’t be fooled by its scenic charm - the 18-hole parkland course offers a stern test for every level of golfer. Tee off and conquer challenging bunkers, strategically placed ponds and a meandering brook to test your skills and keep you on your toes! 

Just remember to abide by the dress code - no jeans, trainers or tracksuits on the course or in the club house. ‍Handicap restrictions also apply, currently handicap men 24 and ladies 36.
