Cross the grounds to this stylish, open-plan greenhouse restaurant. Created by the TV chef himself, it’s a beautifully informal space where you can sit back and watch the chefs work their magic over the flames of a wood-fired oven. The menu is a crowd-pleasing lineup of wood-fired pizzas, gourmet burgers and hearty British classics crafted from superb local ingredients.

The Colonel’s Bar

In the mood for a cocktail made with Chewton Glen’s own gin? Step into this oak-lined sanctuary of understated English grandeur. Dressed in an ultra-stylish palette of tartans, tweeds and rich scarlet tones, it features deep velvet sofas and crackling hearths that create a beautifully cosy vibe. 

The Tasting Room

Designed to look and feel like a country kitchen, this clever space completely shifts with the rhythm of the day. In the morning, it transforms into a stunning open pantry featuring a wooden harvest table piled high with artisanal breakfast treats, fresh honey and a dedicated Bloody Mary station. Come dusk, the room becomes an intimate retreat where the hotel’s mixologists host exclusive wine tastings and chef-led masterclasses.

Yes, there is! While the estate’s most famous for its collection of 14 spectacular Treehouse suites, you don’t have to sleep in the canopy to experience true five-star luxury. Over at the main 18th century manor house, you’ll find individually designed country house bedrooms and suites that are absolute masterclasses in comfort. Sumptuous Croquet Lawn Rooms and massive Master Suites feature private terraces and courtyards – some even come complete with their own private outdoor hot tubs! 

But even the entry-level categories are packed with perks. Opt for a beautifully tailored Garden Room or Classic Room and you’ll still enjoy gorgeous marble bathrooms, plush bathrobes and a high-end Bluetooth audio system. To make your stay extra memorable, the hotel adds cute complimentary touches like artisan flapjacks, handmade chocolates and their very own estate-harvested honey sourced straight from the 50 busy beehives humming in the grounds.

But overnight guests are welcome to arrive early to drop off their bags, slip into a robe and make full use of the award-winning spa and leisure facilities long before they get their bedroom keys. 

Visiting for a Chewton Glen day package instead? Your check-in time will vary depending on the specific experience you’ve booked. Full-day packages generally include up to eight hours of total facility access and often kick off with a nourishing breakfast from 9am or 10am, while twilight spa packages let you recharge later in the day, typically running from 4pm or 5pm into the evening. Be sure to check your final booking confirmation for your exact start time!

It is, and it has the accolades to prove it! Chewton Glen Spa won the Best Spa title at the Blue Badge Access Awards, thanks to dedicated accessible changing rooms, a stair climber and pool hoists that allow for safe water entry.

The hotel itself is generally accessible, with level entry for the main lounges and bar and portable ramps deployed by staff to access the main restaurant. There are also 14 ground-floor bedrooms, including one fully accessible Junior Suite equipped with wider doors, lower-level switches and a wet room. 

You can’t get a better location than this. Straddling the Hampshire and Dorset border, the estate sits in 130 acres of private grounds, right on the edge of the New Forest National Park just moments from the south coast. To get to the beach, you don’t need a car – just follow the estate’s magical trail through the Chewton Bunny Nature Reserve (no, really!) – a beautiful 15-minute stroll that delivers you directly onto the sand at Highcliffe Beach.

Surprisingly so for such a grand, five-star icon, with an excellent selection of rooms designed to fit extra Z-beds or cots for children. Hotel suites accommodate two adults and two children in bunk beds, while some Coach House accommodation can sleep up to six.

While you have to be aged 17 or over to use the facilities like the hydrotherapy pool, thermal circuit and gym, accompanied children under 17 can splash in the indoor pool daily during dedicated family swim times (from 9am to 10.30am and 4pm to 5.30pm). Kids can make a splash in the heated outdoor pool at any time during the day, but it’s only open in the summer months. 

Outside of the water, there’s plenty to keep little ones quiet. Tucked away in the estate grounds, you’ll find The Beehive Kids Club – a fantastic, treehouse-style den packed with toys, games and arts and crafts. Teenagers can even book into their very own dedicated cookery classes over at The Kitchen! 

Best of all, you’re just a stone’s throw from the ancient trails of the New Forest National Park and a short 25-minute drive from Hampshire’s ultimate kid-pleaser: Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World.

Four-legged friends are not allowed in the spa or the main restaurants, but Chewton Glen is exceptionally welcoming to dogs! For an extra £35 per pooch, per night, furry companions under 40kg can join you in selected luxury Treehouse Suites, ground-floor Croquet Lawn Rooms and select suites with private hot tubs. 

When it’s time to stretch their legs, your pup will be in sniffing paradise thanks to 130 acres of woodland trails – or trotting down the estate’s private path straight onto the beach. And you won’t have to leave them behind when you want to grab a bite either. While the main dining house is kept pet-free, well-behaved hounds are warmly welcomed to join you for dinner out on the terrace at The Kitchen by James Martin.

Love a traditional lawn sport? Same. Luckily Chewton Glen boasts a nine-hole, par-three golf course that’s perfect for a quick round before lunch. For something more low-stakes, they also have a pitch-and-putt lawn alongside the main course. The hotel supplies all the clubs and balls you need.
