About

A spa with a volcano sauna and a room where snowflakes drift from the ceiling sounds like something out of a fantasy – but it’s exactly what you’ll find at Riverhills. Fresh from a spectacular £6 million transformation, this award‑winning day spa and health club on the outskirts of Ipswich is packed with experiences designed to surprise even seasoned spa‑goers. From the immersive Fire & Ice thermal suite to the bespoke Templespa rituals, it’s no wonder they’ve been recognised as Spa Team of the Year.

Whether your favourite way to relax is to stretch out, chill out or work out, you can do it all here. Curl up with a book in a cosy lounge, savour afternoon tea on the terrace or sip a cocktail by the water fountain in the sensory spa garden, an incredible al fresco space curated by an award-winning designer. If you’re feeling energised, the newly upgraded gym is equipped with premium Technogym cardio and strength kit, while the fitness studios offer an alphabet of classes from aerobics to Zumba.

Riverhills offers nine serene treatment rooms where expert therapists create bespoke Templespa rituals tailored entirely to your body’s needs. Once your treatment is complete, you can drift through the spa at your own pace, gliding between the 16‑metre swimming pool, the bubbling vitality pool and the soothing hydro pool.

But the star of the show has to be the brand new Fire & Ice thermal suite, bringing together an aromatic steam room, a salt‑infused infrared HaloSauna, the signature volcano sauna and the invigorating SnowSky room, where delicate flakes fall from above. Begin with the rosemary, ginger and lemongrass‑infused foot spas, stretch out on a heated lounger, and if you’re in the mood for something more hands‑on, step into the mud serail chamber for a mineral‑rich DIY ritual for two.

When you’re ready to explore, Riverhills’ dream location puts you within easy reach of the charming Suffolk countryside. Ipswich is just a short hop away, a town brimming with history, culture and character. Wander through Christchurch Mansion, home to the largest collection of Gainsborough and Constable paintings outside London, browse independent boutiques in the town centre or head to the bustling marina for bars, restaurants and waterfront views.

And when your sightseeing is done, Riverhills awaits. Whether you’re seeking a serene sanctuary, a romantic escape or a group getaway, this is an experience far beyond the ordinary. Riverhills isn’t just a boutique day spa – it’s an elite luxury destination designed to elevate every moment.

The Spa & Wellness at Riverhills Health Club & Spa

Life can be stressful, but you can carve out an oasis of calm right at the centre of it all – with a little help from Riverhills. Fresh from its spectacular refurbishment, this award‑winning boutique day spa now features nine sublime treatment rooms, including beautiful double rooms so you can unwind side‑by‑side with someone special.

In partnership with premium skincare brand Templespa, Riverhills has completely reimagined the traditional spa journey. Instead of choosing from a rigid menu in advance, you simply book a block of relaxation time. When you arrive, an expert therapist will consult with you to create a bespoke face or body ritual tailored to exactly what your skin and body need on the day – a personalised approach that leaves you glowing from head to toe.

From there, you can drift through the spa at your own pace. Take a dip in the 16‑metre pool, hydro pool and vitality pool before stretching out on a heated lounger. And before you head into the saunas, don’t miss the foot spas – pre‑filled with Epsom salts infused with real rosemary, ginger and lemongrass for a soothing start to your thermal journey.

The true showstopper, though, is the Fire & Ice thermal suite. This sensory circuit features the therapeutic volcano sauna, an aromatic steam room, the salt‑infused infrared HaloSauna and the unforgettable SnowSky room, where delicate flakes drift from the ceiling to create a magical cooling experience.

Afterwards, wander out to the immersive sensory spa garden. Opened in 2025, it features a mesmerising water fountain and four tranquil chill‑out zones where you can sit back in the sun with a book – or sip a cocktail or two!

The Gym & Fitness at Riverhills Health Club & Spa

Your wellness journey at Riverhills doesn’t have to stop at the spa. Because day spa packages include access to the health and fitness club, you can crush your fitness goals inside their newly upgraded gym.

Work out with premium Technogym equipment, hit the free-weights zone or go for a class in the dedicated Spin and HIIT studios. A weekly calendar of classes from Hatha yoga to line dancing means you could even try something new – and leave with a brand new hobby!

But if you prefer to take your workout out into nature, make sure to bring your walking boots! The leafy village of Bramford and the surrounding Suffolk countryside are perfect for a scenic stroll, power walk, or outdoor run. Right on the spa's doorstep, you can follow a beautiful path alongside the River Gipping, drinking in peaceful views of local mills and meadows as you head toward the picturesque village of Sproughton.

Restaurants & Food at Riverhills Health Club & Spa

You’ve nurtured your body at the gym, and your soul at the spa. Now it’s time to show your tastebuds a little love, and Riverhills has just the thing. Its fantastic Refuel at Riverhills dining experience offers three brilliant locations across the venue – and you’re welcome to relax in the comfort of your snuggly robe at all of them!

For a relaxed, vibrant atmosphere, you can grab a quick bite inside the freshly expanded, light-filled Café Bar. Overlooking the pool, it’s the perfect spot to bring your laptop, socialise or read a book over an artisan coffee or a fresh smoothie.

When the sun is shining, there is no better place to head than the Terrace. Nestled right beside the tranquil water fountain in the stunning new sensory spa garden, it’s the ultimate spot to enjoy your meal alfresco – and the pergola offers protection against the elements if the weather’s not playing ball.

If your spa package includes a two-course lunch, you’ll eat it in the Bar and Restaurant area. Whether you choose a hearty main meal or a lighter salad or sandwich, chefs pride themselves on the quality of food, with everything freshly prepared and locally sourced.

I brought my Mum a spa day which included a full body massage and facial, mini manicure and pedicure. The first two treatments were done in the morning and were great. Lovely and relaxing and extremely enjoyable. The last two treatments we had to wait 3 hours for and had a 4pm. We felt that the girls rushed this so they could leave early and we had both treatments in 30 minutes. This wasn't worth waiting 3 hours for and we had to drive to Lowestoft back to our accommodation afterwards.

Riverhills is a lovely run spa and we had a great day, the package through SpaSeekers is a great deal. The treatments were great as were all the staff. If I had to make one comment, the chairs round the pool are not the most comfortable but I would always recommend Riverhills.

We had a lovely day. Great place. Really helpful staff, and very good treatments. The food was excellent too. The only downside was we had to pay £13 each for gown, towels and flip flops (which we could take home). The reason we had to do this was because we booked through you and not them direct (which they do not charge you).

Myself and my partner had an amazing day. All the treatments were wonderful and very relaxing. The use of the leisure facilities was lovely, helped fill gaps between treatments and lunch. Our favourite treatment was the body exfoliation, it was just so relaxing and smooth. Our day ended with a facial, pedicure and manicure all with the same staff, we would like to say that these two were super lovely and amazing not only at their jobs but they were very engaging with conversation and helped have a lovely time. Their names were Danielle and Hannah. Only negatives were that on our first treatment only 1 of us went and the other waited for 30mins. No one came to talk to the person waiting until after, however they rearranged the treatment for later in the day and were very forgiving. Lastly, we waited 25mins for some scones with cream and jam, they came frozen in the middle to which we sent back and then we waited another 25mins for the next lot. The waiter we dealt with was very kind.

Does Riverhills Health Club & Spa serve afternoon tea?

Is it really a spa day unless you’re snaffling scones from the comfort of a snuggly robe? Luckily, Riverhills serves a deliciously elegant afternoon tea, and several of their luxury day spa packages either include it, or let you add it on to your treat as an extra.

Following the venue’s £6 million venue upgrade, the afternoon tea experience is more beautiful than ever. You can gather your besties inside the freshly expanded, light-filled restaurant, or head outside to the stunning new outdoor dining terrace. Nestled under a pergola, right beside the tranquil fountain in the brand-new sensory spa garden, it’s the perfect spot to soak up some sunshine while you feast.

No matter where you choose to sit, you’ll get to savour fresh finger sandwiches, artisan cakes, and sweet fancies. Slather plenty of clotted cream and jam onto warm fruit scones, and wash it all down with freshly brewed tea, coffee, or a crisp, chilled glass of something bubbly.

Is there a swimming pool at Riverhills Health Club & Spa?

Water-babies are completely spoiled for choice with three different pool experiences designed to soothe both mind and muscles. If you fancy a proper swim, you can do a few lengths of the 16-metre swimming pool. To top it all off, there’s also a spacious vitality pool with swan-neck jets that gently pummel your shoulders.
