The Palazzo

The Palazzo is the hotel’s newest architectural highlight – a striking, glass‑walled space that acts as the social heart of Barton Manor. Flooded with natural light and dressed in sleek, contemporary colours, it’s the perfect spot for a Starbucks coffee, a light lunch or a pre‑dinner cocktail. Seamlessly connecting the historic manor with the modern wing, it shifts effortlessly from a bright daytime lounge to an elegant evening bar, always buzzing with feel-good energy.

The Walled Garden

The hotel’s signature restaurant comes with a back story. Built in the mid‑1990s using original plans from 1901 (discovered by chance), the builders followed the century‑old blueprint exactly, adding a roof to transform it into the award‑winning bistro it is today.

Inside, the focus is firmly on Lancashire’s finest ingredients. Expect heritage meats cooked over a specialised charcoal grill, giving signature steaks and grills a distinctive smoky flavour. Whether you’re dining beneath the original brickwork or enjoying afternoon tea in the conservatory, The Walled Garden delivers a true farm-to-fork experience in a setting that blends rustic charm with refined comfort.

There sure is! Beautifully maintained and comfortably heated all-year round, the indoor 14m pool is the perfect sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation. Take a dip, then revitalise with a session in the sauna and eucalyptus-scented steam room. And if you’re still not relaxed enough, stretch out on the heated loungers and lose yourself in your book – bliss!

Here on an overnight pampering break? You’re in for a treat. This fabulous four-star hotel has 103 beautifully-appointed rooms and suites – 93 in the main hotel, eight in the Clubhouse and two in the Gatehouse. And, with plush pillows and the finest linens in each, you’ll sleep like a baby.

Head nine miles south to Brockholes Nature Reserve, where you can wander through ancient woodlands and explore the UK’s first floating visitor village, perched right on the lake.

Barton Manor Hotel & Spa has been family‑owned for decades. Edward and Ada Topping first took ownership back in 1951, and the hotel remained in the Topping family until 2019, when it was bought by another well‑known Lancashire family, the Timmermans. 

But the story of the manor stretches back even further. Built in 1900 as a six‑bedroom country residence for local mill owner John Healey, it later played its part in history when it was requisitioned by the War Office in 1940 and used as an Officer’s Mess during the war.

Yes it is. Children are warmly welcomed at the hotel, where you’ll find five spacious family rooms, a kids’ menu for mini diners aged under 10, and plenty of room for little ones to roam in the tranquil grounds.

Kids can splash in the pool before 10am and after 3pm, giving families plenty of time to enjoy the water. And if you’re heading out for adventures, there’s loads nearby to keep them entertained. The Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre in Brock is just up the road, offering luxury ten‑pin bowling, a premium cinema and even curling. Or take them to Wild Adventures at Brockholes, a unique nature reserve with a floating visitor village and an ancient woodland climbing forest that’s perfect for older kids.

Yes it is, with ramps and lifts throughout. Two accessible rooms have walk-in showers, grab rails, a higher-level toilet, a lower sink and emergency cords. 

Small dogs are welcome to stay at the Barton Manor Hotel, but charges apply and you’ll have to let the hotel know in advance that your furry friend is coming with you.

Love to pamper and putt? Sadly there’s no golf club at Barton Manor Hotel itself. But because it’s close to some fabulous courses, you can think of it as the ultimate 19th hole! Nearby Garstang Golf Club is one of the region’s most popular pay-and-play destinations. It is known for its excellent drainage, making it playable year-round. Or try Preston Golf Club and Driving Range. While this is a private members’ club, it warmly welcomes visitors for a casual round.
