Spa review of the Welcombe Stratford

We always love to hear how people get on when they visit one of our spas, and it’s always great to get a glowing review! Carolyn Woodland was the lucky winner of our spa break for two at the Welcombe Hotel Spa & Golf Club, Stratford on Avon, and we thought we’d let her tell you exactly how much she loved her prize…

“Entering competitions has become a little hobby of mine. I love the thrill of the chase but don’t really expect to win, although I have been surprised now on several occasions. This was one of them. When I received an email saying I had won a one night spa break for two at the Welcombe Hotel Spa & Golf Club, I was ecstatic and thought ‘what a fantastic prize’.

“I debated whether to go with a girlfriend but the lure of a romantic overnight stay in a luxury four poster bedroom preceded by dinner with wine in an AA 2 rosette restaurant proved too much to resist plus I thought it would be a good idea for my husband to chauffeur me there!”

The wow factor

“Arrival was up a long driveway through the golf course and delightful grounds to a beautiful, stately, country house hotel with the large spa at the side of it. It definitely had the Wow factor.

“We checked in and were given a very friendly and warm welcome. Our room was truly luxurious; it had everything including a 42” HD TV, an Apple computer and monitor, real-coffee making machine, lounge area and very large four poster bed. The bathroom was also fantastic with separate shower plus a large bath, double basins and loads of toiletries. Wow, again.

“We headed straight for the spa where we had a good look round and were most impressed with the indoor swimming pool, the heated loungers, foot spas, thermal experience rooms, sauna and even the aerobics studio and state of the art gymnasium – from which we made a quick exit! Triple wow.

“As we had arrived early afternoon, we decided to walk into Stratford-on-Avon. Yes, you can actually walk there from the hotel in about half-an-hour through the countryside. After a good look round, we were drawn back to the Welcombe and decided a swim before dinner would be a good idea.

“The restaurant, where we were given a table overlooking the wonderful gardens, was beautiful, and during our meal we watched ducks, herons, rabbits and even a fox – great entertainment. Needless to say, the food, wine and service were superb; we were having an excellent break.”

The Morning After

“The next morning, after breakfast, headed for the spa again and treatments this time. I opted for a facial and Elemis products were suggested, as my skin is rather dry. The treatment room was very comfortable and I lay on my back with my head on a pillow whilst my face was cleansed, toned, exfoliated and moisturised.

“My neck and shoulders were also oiled and massaged. At the end of an hour, it was all over but I could have stayed longer as it was probably the best facial I have ever had. However, it was time to move on to the pedicure which I chose as summer is coming also I had never had a pedicure before. “As I opted not to have polish on my toes, this left time for me to have a mini-manicure also which was a treat.

The entire experience was a total delight – the spa and the hotel. We will definitely return in the future and have no hesitation in recommending both Spaseekers and the Menzies Welcombe Hotel and spa.”
