Success can mean different things to different people but we can all agree that being in good health and living a well-balanced lifestyle are crucial factors that many will base success on.
And it makes sense, right? The way you manage your lifestyle naturally effects the way you feel and how people perceive you. Also, according to experts, how you spend your downtime outside of work can also have an enormous impact on your ability to successfully achieve things during the week. If you take care of yourself in your free time, you are more likely to have the right mindset to get things done in a productive manner.
For those reasons, we wanted to make sure that you had a couple of ideas on how to improve your lifestyle and decided to compile 5 things that successful people do outside of work. We also wanted to practice what we preach therefore we organised a spa event at the beautiful St Ives Harbour Hotel & Spa in Cornwall where two lovely bloggers Megan (Meguscript) and Emily (Miss Beauty Emily) joined.
A wise man once said: “Doing what you like is freedom. Liking what you do is happiness”. Whether you like painting or surfing, hiking or knitting, there’s nothing better than doing these things outside of work to free your mind and express yourself.
If you haven’t yet discovered what you like doing out of work, here are a few ideas to help you find something you will enjoy:
You hear it all the time but there’s a lot of truth about the benefits of getting out of your comfort zone and be more adventurous in your daily life. Of course, we wouldn’t recommend skydiving every day – partly because of the expense and partly due to the exhausting daily adrenaline rush -- but why not challenge yourself to do to something that you wouldn’t necessarily do. This could be attending a local organised ‘meetup’ event to network or go with your friends to a karaoke night!
Successful people like learning new things all the time, they remain well-read and surf the internet for unusual stories to share with family and friends. Also, as you get older, you are more open to seeing the bigger picture in life. Taking in new information will help you to open your mind to new concepts that can help you to connect more dots and open more doors.
OK, we don’t all have tons of money to be able to afford to travel to an exotic destination every year but bear in mind that travelling doesn’t need to involve a plane journey. As long as you are willing to go somewhere out of the ordinary, you don’t have to go too far. Find a new locally-based exhibition, eat at a pop-up restaurant or go for a hike in some nearby countryside. Going somewhere new doesn’t need to mean you have to go far away. Also, don’t forget that staycations are an amazing way to spend your weekends. You can find some of the best destinations to take a staycation in the UK here.
Can you think of the last time you had a long massage or enjoyed a manicure with your friends? If not, then you need to make some spare time for yourself! For some people, relaxing can seem like an unusual concept and when you live a busy life, relaxation doesn’t happen by magic. You need to make the time.
That is why we invited two lovely bloggers to attend our #FunDayWithSpaSeekers at the outstanding St Ives Harbour Hotel. The programme was simple: do each of the five points listed above.
Megan and Emily spent the entire afternoon being pampered by the wonderful staff at the St Ives Harbour Hotel. Not only did they have access to the spa facilities but they also had the opportunity to taste a delicious Cornish afternoon tea. It goes without saying the afternoon wouldn’t be complete without a back massage and some glasses of bubbly!
This is what the attendees had to say about their day:
