About

Seeking luxurious lounging, indulgent food and a stunning spa, all wrapped in a region that inspired Charles Dickens? Bridgewood Manor Hotel in Chatham will live up to all of your Great Expectations. From cosy corners and roaring fires to Ishga treatments and elegant afternoon teas, this warm and welcoming spa hotel in Kent makes indulgence feel effortless.

Step outside and you’re in the heart of Medway, where Dickens drew inspiration for his most famous tales. The Historic Dockyard Chatham is nearby, but you’re also in pole position for Rochester’s cobbled streets, independent shops and castle. Beyond the town, you can soak up more stories at Fort Amherst, enjoy riverside views at Upnor Castle or hit the stores at Bluewater Shopping Centre, only 12 minutes away. And because Kent is known as the Garden of England, you’re never far from the county’s rolling countryside, orchards and vineyards.

Back at the hotel you’ll find contemporary interiors and modern comforts. Yet with two open fireplaces, reclaimed timbers and comfy lounges, Bridgewood Manor still feels like a country house hotel. Attractively designed around an inner courtyard, this four‑star hotel has 100 bedrooms and suites to rest your head, each thoughtfully equipped with home comforts. And if you can’t bear to leave your four‑legged friend behind, the hotel is dog‑friendly, so everyone can enjoy the escape.

But if no relaxing hotel stay feels complete without a spot of self‑care, the health and leisure club will be your second home. Reveal a new version of you with a menu of Ishga treatments, or while away the hours at the indoor pool, sauna, steam room and gym. And once you’ve nurtured your body, treat your tastebuds to a mouth‑watering meal at Squire’s Restaurant or raise a glass with a post‑spa G&T at the inviting bar.

My experience was good - a pleasant facial and massage. I was surprised there was no mention of products used and no recommendations. The pool is very small and quite busy and noisy at times. Small sauna and steak room. Facilities good and clean.

Overall this is a nice little spa, little being the important word here. The reception staff are lovely and the treatment really nice, very relaxing, but the size is a bit of an issue the pool is small but nice enough and the Sauna and Steam room the same. The main issue we found was lack of loungers only 6 at the side of the pool and one of those was broken and 2 heated loungers in a relaxation area so 7 available places to sit, between about 20 people using the facilities, and you're left with people having to sit in the reception area overlooking the pool rather than be able to enjoy it. And you're left with the lottery of having to rush in and grab a lounger if one becomes free, It did improve in the afternoon so maybe just the mornings are busy.
