About
Wow-factor wellness. Historic grandeur. A countryside escape with more leisure opportunities than you can point a croquet mallet at. If you thought stately homes were all dusty portraits and zero fun, you clearly haven’t been to Thoresby Hall. Nestled on the edge of Sherwood Forest, this adults-only Warner retreat has long been a beacon of indulgence. Thoresby Hall recently had a £15.5 million transformation, which has put it firmly on the map for luxury-lovers and spa-seekers alike.
Relaunched early 2026 as part of the premium Reserve by Warner Hotels collection, Thoresby Hall features 221 refurbished rooms and a seriously swish outdoor spa garden. Designed to blend modern wellness with natural tranquillity, the spa garden invites guests to unwind under open skies – whether it’s soaking in a hot tub beneath the stars or slipping into a sauna with a view. With TEMPLESPA treatments and serene spaces for reflection, it’s becoming a flagship destination in Warner’s new era of luxury retreats.
Even before the refurb, Thoresby Hall had plenty to shout about. The sweeping driveway sets the tone for a grand arrival, while interiors blend period charm with contemporary comfort. Views stretch across Robin Hood’s Sherwood Forest and the spa already having 18-metre pool, steam room, sauna and bubble tub.
Foodies will love The Blue Room, the mansion’s original dining space given a spruce up as part of the upgrade. And if you’re the active type, you’ll find archery, rifle shooting, Nordic walking and dance workshops on the daily schedule, plus Sherwood Forest’s legendary trails just minutes away.
Want to take your spa robe off and explore further? Nearby Newark is a treasure trove of boutique shopping and centuries-old stories. Wander the cobbled market square, visit the dramatic ruins of Newark Castle or dive into the past at the National Civil War Centre. Explore Nottingham’s literary legacy at the Robin Hood Experience or stroll through the Lace Market’s indie shops and galleries. In Sheffield, you’ll find vibrant street art, buzzing food halls and the majestic ruins of Beauchief Abbey.

The Spa & Wellness at Thoresby Hall Hotel
Take a break from the bustle in the beautifully reimagined spa at Thoresby Hall. Set within the grounds of the Grade I-listed Victorian mansion, this adults-only retreat has recently completed a £15.5 million transformation – and the new wellness offering is right at the heart of it.
Step inside and let the calm take over. There’s a heated indoor pool, bubble pool, sauna and steam room, plus a brand-new outdoor spa garden that will steal the show. Opened in February 2026, an alfresco hot tub, plunge pool and beautifully designed sauna will nestle among the landscaped grounds.
In partnership with TEMPLESPA, Thoresby’s treatment menu is a celebration of botanical luxury. From Mediterranean-infused facials to mood-balancing body rituals, each experience is crafted to leave you feeling radiant, restored – and ready to float back into the real world.
The Gym & Fitness at Thoresby Hall Hotel
Let’s face it. Sticking to your fitness goals on a spa break isn’t always easy. But at Thoresby Hall, staying active feels less like a chore and more like a treat. With a fully equipped gym, resistance machines, cardio kit and free weights, you can work up a sweat, before slipping into the sauna or steam room for a well-earned recovery session.
Solo workouts aren’t your thing? Not a problem. Thoresby’s new wellness programme includes a full calendar of group classes, from calming yoga and sound baths to energising aqua aerobics and pilates.
Outside, the landscaped grounds offer space for Nordic walking, heritage tours and countryside strolls. You’ll also find classic Warner activities like archery, rifle shooting and dance workshops. So whether you’re chasing endorphins or just trying something new, Thoresby Hall makes moving feel magical.

The jewel in Thoresby’s culinary crown, The Blue Room has taken over from Brasserie32 as the mansion’s signature dining space. Housed in the original drawing room, it pairs Victorian decor with modern British cuisine. Expect heritage-inspired dishes, elegant afternoon teas and a menu that nods to the past while celebrating the present.
The Sherwood Restaurant & Market Kitchen
Located in the light-filled Orangery, this relaxed buffet-style venue offers British favourites and global classics. Whether it’s a hearty breakfast or a laid-back dinner, just pick what you fancy and pile your plate high!
Manvers Bar & Live Lounge Bar

The booking was for 2 people for a 14.30 booking for 2 hours in the gym and 2 hours in the spa. Staff were great on arrival and throughout the visit. All facilities clean and restaurant and bar had good selections. We used the gym, had a smoothie purchased at the bar and drank in the outside relaxing area. We then moved onto the spa and at 17.45 was told the spa/pool shut at 18.00, we had not expected this as this was a 4 hour booking from 14.30 is to 18.30. Had we known it was closing at 18.00 we would have gone in there earlier than we did so unfortunately it did feel a little rushed at the end and we felt we were not able to make the most of the pool and Spa facilities.

Brought this as a Mothers Day present afternoon spa with afternoon tea with the wave massage machine. Staff very helpful and friendly. Afternoon tea was beautiful. The spa itself was ok pool and Jacuzzi not very warm but for a couple of hours it certainly did the trick we left feeling relaxed. Thought the wave massage machine was incredible.
