About

Nothing beats an all-inclusive holiday for relaxation, indulgence and fun. But what if we told you there was a way to get that same luxurious feeling without setting foot on a plane - or spending hours in passport control? Nestled in the Essex countryside, the blissfully adults-only Potters Resorts Five Lakes is the UK’s only all-inclusive (barring its sister site in Norfolk). And the even better news? It’s crammed with more superb facilities than you can wave your snazzy pink wristband at.

Recently voted Britain’s best holiday park by Which?, Five Lakes scored five out of five stars in all categories - and it’s so easy to see why. The family-owned resort is set against a picture-perfect backdrop of glorious grounds. At 320 acres, and with its own 18-hole golf course, Five Lakes resort is so huge you’ll need a map to explore everything that’s on offer.

There’s a leisure club, thrilling activities, West-End-style evening entertainment, delicious food and branded drinks, all included in the price. Head to the state-of-the-art evening venue to see Potters’ own professional theatre company put on a different show every night, or get competitive over shuffleboard, darts and table tennis in the indoor sports arena. Outdoors there’s tennis, disc golf, archery, pickleball and even a lake complete with rowing boats.

Luckily, the wristband-wearers at Five Lakes don’t keep their stunning facilities all to themselves. Even if you're not booked into Potters Resort Five Lakes for an adults-only short break, you can still indulge in a luxurious spa package at its super-swish spa.

Dive into pure relaxation at the warm indoor pool with its sauna, steam room and spa bath. Enjoy top-tier rituals from Elemis and Mii in one of 12 sumptuous treatment rooms, or kick back in the serene relaxation suite encased in your plush robe. Some packages even include delicious afternoon teas or a glass of bubbly for occasions when you really want to spoil yourself.

Close to the towns of Maldon, Tiptree and Colchester and just a stone’s throw from the stunning Blackwater Estuary, guests eager to spread their wings have plenty of options nearby. Take a relaxing stroll through the Dengie National Nature Reserve. Spend a little time at the world-famous Colchester Zoo, or check out the Roman history in Colchester itself. You’ll also be within easy reach of a number of celebrated waterfront locations, such as Clacton-on-Sea and Burnham-on-Crouch.

But when you’ve finished exploring, The Spa at Five Lakes awaits. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the resort, its pin-drop peaceful setting provides an idyllic venue in which to unwind. So whether you have a morning, an afternoon or a whole day of pampering planned, you can check-in, chill-out and let your journey to bliss begin.

Coming back for second time and absolutely love the service, facilities and the whole experience. Booked half day spa with a facial. Towels, slippers and ropes provided so no need to bring anything in with you. Coming back again soon. Definitely recommend.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. The pool was large, and it was a Monday and not a busy day which was nice. The Jacuzzi was not working but there was a hot tub and a sauna and steam room which we had virtually to ourselves. The Afternoon tea was nice, although it was only teabags and not loose leaf tea. The sandwiches were nice and so were the cakes and the scones. Personally I would have liked fewer cakes and more sandwiches, but that's just me, everything was nice. The massage treatment was fantastic, afterwards I felt so relaxed. I would rate it 9/10 for friendliness of staff, 7/10 for the afternoon tea, 8/10 for the pool area and 9/10 for the massage treatment.

This spa day was booked through SpaSeekers. Never been to this spa before. The staff were friendly and accommodating, afternoon tea was tasty. The only downfall of this spa is the walk to the pool from the spa it’s quite a trek and the Jacuzzi was out of order there was a hot tub there but not same experience also the pool area could do with a good cobwebbing and smarten up. The spa area is lovely and clean and inviting just a shame it’s so far from the pool .

Four of us ladies visited Potters as a Spa day for my Mums 80th birthday. We had a great day & the staff were marvellous, nothing was too much trouble. We all had wonderfully relaxing massages & made full use of the facilities. We had a lovely afternoon tea, which you can alter to your preferences when booking. One small gripe was that the large Jacuzzi was not in use & although it was replaced by a smaller one in a different position, if you looked up whilst lying in the Jacuzzi you was looking at a piece of board replacement in the ceiling. Overall I would completely recommend Potters Five Lakes, such good value for money & very enjoyable. A good time had by all, thank you! 🤩

Nestled amidst the tranquil Essex countryside, The Spa at Five Lakes is set on the doorstep of the Blackwater Estuary National Nature Reserve and just a short drive from Colchester and Chelmsford.

Who owns The Spa at Potters Resorts Five Lakes?

It’s still owned by the Potter family, and headed up by John Potter. Potters Resorts started out in 1920 in Hemsby in Norfolk after solicitors' clerk Herbert Potter won £500 in a newspaper competition. In 1924 Potters moved to Hopton-on-Sea where it remains to this day. The Hopton site is the sister site to Five Lakes and it’s where you’ll find Potters HQ. Yes it is. The hotel has lifts, ramps, disabled parking and accessible rooms with walk-in showers and shower trays. If mobility is an issue for you, ask for rooms in the hotel rather than in the Village as these are a five minute walk from all the main facilities.

Sorry, it isn’t. No pets allowed, except for registered assistance dogs.

Does The Spa at Potters Resorts Five Lakes have a golf course?

It does! The 18-hole course is one of the finest in Essex, being designed by European Tour legend Neil Coles and having hosted the prestigious Nick Faldo Challenge, as well as regional PGA events over the years. The gentle undulation of the course makes walking easy and it features lakes and well-placed bunkers along with mature and new trees, with hedgerows.

A round of golf is not included in the all-inclusive offer, and prices vary according to the date and time you wish to tee off.
