About

With its rolling countryside, historic market towns and award-winning coastline, you don’t really need another excuse to visit Lincolnshire. But we’ve just found one more to add to your list - The Barn Hotel & Spa. Not only is this idyllic bursting with fantastic facilities, it puts you in pole position to explore the very best the county has to offer.

Lashings of rustic charm and a pin-drop peaceful rural setting give it a ‘miles from anywhere’ feel. But The Barn Hotel & Spa is conveniently located just one mile from the A1, and a ten-minute drive from the attractive town of Grantham, with its celebrated museum and a whole host of excellent shops to explore. Make sure to pick up some gingerbread biscuits while you’re in town - they were first made here in 1740 by local baker, William Eggleston.

Along with being the birthplace of Britain’s first female Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, Grantham’s other claim to fame is that it was once the home of Sir Isaac Newton. You can even visit Woolsthorpe Manor to pay homage to the 400-year-old apple tree Newton was sitting under when he made his famous discovery about gravity.

But when your exploring and sightseeing is over, The Barn Hotel & Spa will be waiting for you to check-in and chill-out. Each one of its 103 rooms and suites is spacious, well-equipped and tastefully decorated. But chances are you won’t be staying in your room too long -not when there’s a 15m swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and gym to swan around in.

Make time for a ritual at one of the two zen-like treatment rooms. Then all that’s left to round off your day is to work your way through the menu of flavoured gins or local real ales on offer in the cosy Gravity Bar, followed by a meal that showcases the best of Lincolnshire’s bounty in the fabulously relaxed Barn Restaurant.

The Spa & Wellness at The Barn Hotel & Spa

Ready to escape the world? Revel in a haven of luxury as you embark on the perfect pampering experience at The Barn Hotel & Spa.

Cocooned in your soft robe, your journey to self-care begins at the tranquil swimming pool. Gloriously heated, at 15m it’s long enough for laps, or just take a leisurely dip as you catch up with friends. There’s even a poolside hot tub and some chic loungers to help you fully de-stress and unwind.

Pad in your slippers to the thermal suite. This sumptuous sanctuary includes a sauna and steam room to relax, revive and restore you. But it’s not just about finding new ways to turn up the heat here, because the spa also has a menu of blissful treatments to enjoy.

Signature back, neck and shoulder massages, skin-brightening facials and beautifying finishing touches can be enjoyed from the comfort of two zen-like treatment rooms. With Botanicals providing the body rituals and OPI polish for your nails, there’s everything to pamper and preen you from top to toe.

The Gym & Fitness at The Barn Hotel & Spa

You’ve de-stressed at the spa. Now it’s time to nurture your physical health with a spot of exercise, and The Barn Hotel & Spa has just the thing. Its Health Club is a true wellness haven, featuring a well-equipped gym, along with a fitness studio dedicated to strengthening, stretching and challenging you in ways you’ve never tried before.

Guests can work up a sweat in style on high-performance equipment from treadmills and cross-trainers to bikes. Or tone up with a trip to the weights room where you’ll find single-station machines and free weights.

Don’t like to go it alone? Hit the studio for a group fitness class. Suitable for most abilities, there’s a great selection on offer throughout the week, such as yoga, Pilates and even Clubbercise for a workout set to a pumping soundtrack. Don’t forget your glow sticks!

Restaurants & Food at The Barn Hotel & Spa

Relax, unwind, then it’s time to wine and dine, and a night at the hotel’s restaurant and bar will be every bit as chilled out as a day at its Health Club. Prop up the bar, sip on a cocktail and soak up your artfully rustic surroundings, before heading to the restaurant. Here’s a little rundown of what to expect while you’re there.

The Gravity Bar

With a nod to Grantham’s most-famous former resident, Isaac Newton, The Gravity Bar is cosy and relaxed. Open from 11am till late for residents and non-residents, it’s a great spot to work your way through the many flavoured gins on offer, or just sample one of the locally-produced bottled real ales to immerse yourself in the flavours of the region!

The Barn Restaurant

With its beautiful beams and converted-barn feel, the hotel’s restaurant takes all of its ingredients straight from the bountiful Lincolnshire larder. Expect hearty, home-cooked meals cooked to perfection. It’s open on Tuesday to Saturday evenings and closed on Sunday and Monday, but you can still get food in the bar.

Spa was excellent and Claire was extremely helpful. Changing rooms were clean even though the spa was extremely busy in the morning due to school holidays. Afternoon tea for two served in the hotel comprised salmon, chicken, tuna and cheese sandwiches along with a variety of miniature cakes that were absolutely scrumptious, along with tea and coffee. Complements to the chef. The spa is a credit to the hotel and well worth another visit.
