Turkish bathing has been warming Londoners from the inside out since Victorian times, and beneath Ironmonger Row Baths in Old Street, the tradition is alive and well! This Grade II-listed 1930s bathhouse gives you two hours to work through its original tiled hot rooms, each warmer than the last, alongside a Himalayan salt sauna, steam rooms and a marble-lined plunge pool for when you need to cool off.

At the heart of it all is a 15-minute hammam black soap cleanse, a time-honoured treatment that leaves skin soft, polished and wonderfully renewed. Robes, towels and flip-flops are provided, with fruit, herbal teas and infused water to sip between rounds. It’s a simple ritual with centuries of tradition behind it, and it leaves a warm glow that lasts long after you’ve left the baths.
