The Spa & Wellness at Sofitel Spa London St James

After a day spent shopping and sightseeing, there’s no better feeling than recharging your batteries at one of London’s finest temples of tranquillity. And at the Sofitel Spa London St James, everything has been designed to spoil you, from top to toe.

Pad along to the ground floor spa where you’ll find five treatment rooms, a private hammam, steam room, Zen lounge and hydrotherapy jet bath. And because these fabulous facilities are only available to those who have booked a treatment or pamper package, you’ll find it blissfully quiet too.

Whatever treatment you choose at this sequestered space, rest assured your holistic wellness is in good hands. The Sofitel Spa London St James is world-renowned for its facials as it’s home to skincare pioneer Su-Man, whose ‘no Botox facelifts’ have revitalised the complexions of Hollywood royalty.

Try an award-winning HydraFacial, be pampered by Codage and Les Jardins Sothys rituals, or melt away tension with a masterful massage. It’s all on offer here and it all takes place on blissfully heated treatment beds. Then take a trip to the Zen lounge to dive even deeper into euphoria.

The Gym & Fitness at Sofitel Spa London St James

Crush your fitness goals at Sofitel London St James. Its first-floor gym looks out onto a lush, green vertical garden and is kitted out with free weights and Technogym machines. There’s even a multi-sensory AlphaSphere by Sha chair to try, designed to ease jet lag.

Prefer to work up a sweat outdoors? A jog or power walk through nearby St James Park or down by the Thames is lovely - go early in the morning to see London waking up for the day ahead.

You could even burn some calories by taking in the sights on two wheels. Santander Cycles, London's public bicycle hire scheme, lets you just grab a bike and start riding. You can go wherever the wind takes you, but if you’re not confident the banks of the Thames offer long stretches of traffic-free cycling.

Restaurants & Food at Sofitel Spa London St James

Relax, unwind, then it’s time to wine and dine and because this is one of London’s finest hotels you know you’re in for a sophisticated treat. But will you choose to round off your perfectly pampered day at the cosy bar, the Michelin-star restaurant or the gorgeous lounge? Decisions, decisions.

St James Bar

Click your heels along the marble floors of the vast lobby, past smartly dressed staff and into the beating heart of the hotel - the plush St James Bar. Dimly-lit and atmospheric, it’s perfect for a post-massage cocktail. Sink into a plush, velvet banquette, admire the antique mirrored tables and work your way around the ‘Taste Of The World’ menu. It features 18 cocktails which evoke the flavours of each destination's signature dish or ingredient, from a barbecue-flavoured Old Fashioned to a Gin Sour influenced by Greek tzatziki.

Wild Honey St James

Suitably enlivened, it’s time to head next-door for some Michelin-starred dining. Wild Honey St James showcases the best of British ingredients served with French flair, much like the hotel itself. The handsome dining room has an elegant design and its corner plot maximises the amount of natural light.

The Rose Lounge

The Rose Lounge is a lavishly decorated space decorated in pink with plenty of rose patterns, perfect for enjoying an indulgent afternoon tea. It also caters to younger guests with an exciting menu that includes Nutella sandwiches and caramel popcorn. Yum!

My sisters bought me a spa day at the fantastic Sofitel London St James, and boy did they pick a great venue! Despite being in the middle of the city the spa was as quiet and as tranquil as it gets, which meant I felt relaxed as soon as I arrived. I’d been feeling stressed out recently, but this place changed all that in no time. If you’re looking to get away for a day, or even longer, I couldn’t recommend it enough.

My husband and I have just come back from a weekend in London, and it was magical. We did so many things, but the highlight of the whole trip was spending time in the hotel. The Sofitel London St James was the perfect base for our adventures, and on the Sunday I got to spend a few hours in the spa. This was a wonderful time, and by the end I felt as relaxed as I’ve ever felt. Next time we hit the capital, we’ll definitely stay there again.

I was lucky enough to have an afternoon of pampering at Sofitel London St James last week, and the experience was every bit as special as I hoped it would be. The building itself is beautiful, and the spa was so tranquil. It was hard to believe I was I the middle of London, to be honest. The staff were friendly, too. It was all perfect. If I could give it eleven out of ten then I would.
