About

With its turquoise water and sandy beaches, St Andrews Lakes in Kent looks more Mediterranean than Medway. But whenever you’re ready to swap paddleboarding for pampering, make a beeline for Mischicks Day Spa. Tucked away at the foot of towering white cliffs, this award-winning hideaway pairs facials, massages and beauty treats with time in the Nest, where the hot tub and cosy cabin are reserved exclusively for you. Just bring your favourite people – or come as a couple and get the whole place to yourselves!

With a name like Mischicks, it’s only fitting that the private relaxation area is called the Nest. Screened by woven willow, it’s a secluded little world where a bubbling hot tub sits beneath a rustic pergola. Inside the snug timber cabin, fairy lights twinkle over a double egg chair piled high with cushions, made for curling up in. Whether you’re sipping a glass of fizz on a lounger in the spa garden or tucking into an elegant afternoon tea served on pretty vintage china, it’s easy to see why Mischicks is such a favourite for celebrations and catch-ups!

Step inside the spa itself and things get even more glamorous, with a sparkling chandelier and blush-pink pedicure thrones looking out across the lake. Million Dollar Facials take place in the comfort of three plush treatment rooms, alongside Eve Taylor treatments and massages that reviewers rave about.

When you’re ready to explore, there’s plenty on the doorstep. Once a chalk quarry, St Andrews Lakes has been transformed into a playground of watersports – and it’s home to Kent’s largest aqua park in the warmer months. The Kent Downs and the ancient Pilgrims’ Way offer glorious walks, while historic Rochester is just a short hop away. History-lovers can marvel at the Norman castle and one of England’s oldest cathedrals, while the Dickensian high street is lined with independent shops, antiques emporiums and cosy cafés.

The Spa & Wellness at Mischicks Day Spa

Serious about your skincare? So is Mischicks Day Spa! Step inside its rustic timber walls to indulge in a Million Dollar Facial – a bespoke 10-step treatment combining dermaplaning, skin needling and lymphatic drainage massage. Some facials also feature a soothing ice globe massage, while Eve Taylor facials draw on the brand’s long heritage in aromatherapy.

The massage menu is a playful nod to the Mischicks name, from the Golden Plume back massage and Golden Feathers body massage to the Whispering Wings shoulder, neck and scalp treatment. There’s a Full Body Chirp and Glow scrub and massage, a Little Chick Mud Wrap and a Nestling Chick pregnancy massage too!

With just three plush treatment rooms, it’s a small and personal set-up, and friends or partners can have treatments at the same time in separate rooms. Pedicures come with a view, as you sink into blush-pink thrones, slip your feet into heated booties and gaze out across the lake.

The Gym & Fitness at Mischicks Day Spa

There’s no gym at Mischicks, but there’s no shortage of ways to get active on the spa’s doorstep! In the warmer months, St Andrews Lakes is a playground of paddleboarding, kayaking, open-water swimming and Kent’s largest inflatable aqua park. Activities are chargeable, and are all run separately by the St Andrews Lakes team.

Walkers are spoilt for choice. The ancient North Downs Way runs along the ridge above Halling and nearby Ranscombe Farm is a 560-acre nature reserve famous for its wild flowers. Visit in spring to find the woods around Halling carpeted with bluebells.

Fancy something more adventurous? Back at the lakes, you can whizz across the water on the zip wire or try your hand at climbing, archery or even axe throwing. And for those who prefer two wheels, cyclists can take on the challenging North Downs Way Riders’ Route.

Restaurants & Food at Mischicks Day Spa

Whether you’re toasting a bride-to-be or simply celebrating getting through the week, there’s always something to sip in the hot tub! Complimentary tea, coffee and water are served throughout every visit, and hot chocolate is included in many of the spa packages too. If you’d rather raise a glass, the spa holds its own alcohol licence, with prosecco, wine, cocktails and beer on offer alongside soft drinks.

Afternoon tea is the star of the show, served on pretty vintage china for a proper old-fashioned treat. The menu changes with the seasons, but expect dainty finger sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones with jam and cream, fresh strawberries and an array of cakes. For birthdays and anniversaries, you can even add a celebration cake to make the occasion extra special.

The lakes have their own café and pizzeria, perfect for a bite before or after your spa visit. Venture a little further and the village of Halling has traditional pubs, while nearby Court Farm is home to a farm shop and craft brewery tap room. Historic Rochester is just a short drive away, with a high street packed with cosy cafés, tearooms and centuries-old pubs.

Does Mischicks Day Spa serve afternoon tea?

It sure does, and it’s served on pretty vintage china so you know you’re in for a proper traditional treat! The menu changes with the seasons, but expect finger sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones with jam and cream, fresh strawberries and an array of cakes. Let the team know about any dietary requirements when you book, and they’ll pass them on to the kitchen.

Is there accommodation at Mischicks Day Spa?

Is Mischicks Day Spa accessible?

Unfortunately, the spa doesn’t currently have wheelchair access. If you have any accessibility questions, the friendly team will be happy to talk them through before you book.

Where is Mischicks Day Spa?

Mischicks Day Spa is tucked away at St Andrews Lakes in Halling, Kent, just outside Rochester. Once a chalk quarry, the site is now a dazzling turquoise lake framed by towering white cliffs, and locals call it the ‘Blue Lake’ – one look explains why! The spa sits right at the foot of the cliffs, in a weathered timber cabin decked with eucalyptus garlands and fairy lights.

What is there to do near Mischicks Day Spa?

Loads! In the warmer months, St Andrews Lakes offers paddleboarding, open-water swimming, a zip wire, climbing, archery and even axe throwing. And historic Rochester is just down the road, with its Norman castle, ancient cathedral and Dickensian high street.

Is the hot tub at Mischicks Day Spa private?

It is, and that’s what makes Mischicks so special. The hot tub, relaxation cabin and garden, together known as the Nest, are reserved exclusively for you and your group. The hot tub sits beneath a timber pergola with a woven willow roof, screened by leafy trees, so it’s shady in summer and sheltered in winter.

Can I get a drink at Mischicks Day Spa?

Is Mischicks Day Spa good for groups and celebrations?

It’s perfect for them. Mischicks is a favourite for birthdays, hen dos and catch-ups, with groups of up to six welcome and room to stretch out in the spa garden and cosy cabin. With three treatment rooms, friends can enjoy treatments at the same time in separate rooms, and you can even add a celebration cake to your afternoon tea.

Does Mischicks Day Spa welcome men?

Definitely. Mischicks may have a playful name, but men are made just as welcome, with massages, facials and more on the menu.

Is Mischicks Day Spa family-friendly?

Mischicks is designed with grown-up relaxation in mind, and massages are for over-18s only. But younger guests aren’t left out entirely. The spa welcomes visitors from age 8, and little ones can enjoy a mini manicure or pedicure.

If you’re visiting with family, St Andrews Lakes has plenty to keep everyone busy in the warmer months, including watersports and Kent’s largest inflatable aqua park.

Does Mischicks Day Spa have a golf course?

There’s no golf at Mischicks, but keen golfers won’t have to go far. Rochester & Cobham Park Golf Club is a short hop away and ranks among Kent’s finest parkland courses.
