About
Looking for the ultimate couples’ spa retreat? Finding a romantic spa hotel doesn’t have to be as tricky as your search for ‘the one’. Named as one of SpaSeekers’ top ten spa hotels for Valentine’s Day, Horwood House Hotel & Spa is guaranteed to put you in the mood for love. And, with pretty grounds, a Grade II-listed manor house and the beautifully bespoke H Spa, this indulgent escape is one to enjoy well beyond February 14.
In the heart of the Buckinghamshire countryside, at the end of an elegant, tree-lined drive, Horwood House underwent a £6 million transformation in 2022, elevating it into one of the UK’s most stylish rural retreats. And the crown jewel of the renovation? The contemporary H Spa, discreetly tucked away from the rest of the hotel. You’ll see where every penny was spent as you unwind on heated loungers in the spa lounge - or in the wafty-curtained, private booths in the relaxation room.
The spa is a haven of botanically-themed tranquillity, flooded with natural light. There’s a swish 15m pool, detoxifying sauna and cleansing steam room. But if you want to take your relaxation to the next level, H Spa’s expert therapists are on hand with a collection of crowd-pleasing Caudalie treatments. Whether it’s a luxurious massage, a glow-boosting facial or a pampering mani/pedi, you’ll leave feeling utterly refreshed. There’s even a double treatment room so you can unwind side by side.
Checking in for the night? We don’t blame you. Horwood House blends Grade II listed heritage with contemporary luxury like nowhere else. Nestled in 38 acres of woodland and manicured gardens, the botanical theme continues in the 159 bedrooms, including three fully renovated Manor Suites with vaulted ceilings, art deco bathrooms and original period details.
Stay for a delicious dinner at Harry’s Bar & Kitchen. The hotel’s beating heart is a blend of buzz and glamour, with light streaming through the skylight, illuminating the contemporary décor below. Balance indulgence with activity at the state-of-the-art gym and outdoor tennis court, ideal for working off the calories from your elegant afternoon tea.
Set in the rural village of Little Horwood, just a short drive from Milton Keynes, Buckingham and Leighton Buzzard, sightseeing opportunities abound. Within a short drive, you can find MK Museum and Bletchley Park, perfect for history buffs. Nature-lovers can enjoy a tranquil day out at Woburn Abbey and Gardens or Stockgrove Country Park. If retail therapy is more your thing, Bicester Shopping Village and centre:mk are both within easy reach. More of a thrill-seeker? You can hit the slopes at Snozone Milton Keynes, hit the water at Willen Lake or hit the F1 track at Silverstone Circuit.
But chances are, you won’t want to leave the calming cocoon that is H Spa. Whether you’re floating in that showstopper of a pool, sinking into the poolside tranquility beds or sipping a post-massage cocktail in the courtyard, Horwood House offers an unforgettable escape that’s perfect for romance - or simply indulging in pure luxury.

I’ll start with the positives. Easy parking and loads of spaces. Staff very friendly and explained everything well. Good changing facilities. Staff very flexible, our lunch was 1pm but on our request to eat earlier they kindly changed it to 12:30pm. Food was good. Negatives was around the pool they need more beds. Lunch menus wasn’t clear it’s just two courses not three, maybe a bold statement on the paper when choosing what food you want may help with this. All in all really pleasant experience and would like to return. 8.7/10 :)

It was my first time at the spa and I was really impressed. The therapist who did my treatment was so welcoming and professional. He had a lovely manner about him and did really well to balance asking me some questions about my day, with letting me relax and enjoy the treatment. He provided a brilliant massage, I felt so relaxed and at ease afterwards. It was the highlight of my day. The rest of the staff and the food were also great.

Booked for my friend’s birthday. Had a lovely brunch. Spa facilities, nice and clean. A bit small for the number of guests. Also could do with a Jacuzzi. Staff all friendly and helpful. We had amazing massages, the treatment room could have been a bit warmer and the oil warmed, never had cold oil poured on me for a massage before. Lovely 2 course lunch at Harrys. All in all, a lovely day out. Thank you!
