Once the home of Percy Bysshe and Mary Shelley, the magnificent mansion oozes traditional luxury - yet vibrant interior design keeps things fun. Burn off your afternoon tea with a nature hike across the estate’s 120 acres. Challenge your friends to a game of tennis, croquet or giant chess on the lawns. Hire bikes and go exploring, before drifting off to bed in contemporary rooms crammed with luxurious amenities.
But the hotel’s Utopia Spa is the jewel in its crown. Robe up and head down to the lavish Grecian-style swimming pool. How to get to the Spa?
By train: Take the train to East Grinstead (one hour from Victoria and a 10-minute taxi ride away). Or go to Three Bridges (40 minutes from Victoria and a 12 minute-taxi ride from the spa).
By bus: The number 84 bus which goes from Crawley to East Grinstead stops nearby.
By car: Leave the M23 at junction 10, following the signs for East Grinstead. At the second roundabout, follow the signs for Turners Hill (B2028). Once in Turners Hill Village, turn left at the crossroads (B2110) to East Grinstead. Alexander House Hotel is on the left hand side after one and half miles. The postcode for your satnav is RH10 4QD

The spa is clean and friendly. My massage I had was great I paid the extra £20 to have a treatment for 55 minutes not 40 minutes as booked in the package. I went for lunch at 13:30 my allocated time but did not receive my prebooked salad until 14:00 with apologies from the staff but it did let it down especially when you are on your own.

I took my two daughters for a spa day and afternoon tea. We also had a treatment included. The spa was very relaxing and not too busy. We used the inside and outside area which are immaculate. The drinks service was great and easy to use. The treatments are lovely we all had the express facial. Afternoon tea was delicious and beautifully served. Would highly recommend we had a great time.
