Set the mood
One of the key elements of enjoying a spa day at home is to set the mood and create an atmosphere that will make you feel relaxed. Find yourself a space in your home where you can really wind down and indulge in a few at-home spa treatments. Whatever relaxation looks like to you, do it.
Calming sounds set the tone for your pamper session, try our ‘Spa At Home’ or ‘Soothing Sounds’ playlist, light a candle or use some essential oils for the ultimate home spa. Lavender, rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine and sage, are all scents which are known for relieving stress and anxiety. For a better night's sleep, why not try chamomile or vanilla scents?
Make your own face mask
A face mask is a beautifying skin treatment that is designed to cleanse pores, exfoliate dead skin cells and hydrate and moisturise the skin. If you don’t have a face mask at hand, the good news is that you can whip up your own DIY face mask, using a few basic ingredients that can be found at home. So raid that store cupboard - your skin will thank you later!
Moisturising face mask - This one-ingredient face mask is a beauty all-rounder, which will moisturize your skin and leave it looking radiant and feeling softer.
Simply peel and mash up one medium-sized ripe banana, until it forms a smooth paste. Then, using your fingers, gently apply the paste across your face and neck. Allow the paste to sit for 10 to 20 minutes, then rinse off with cold water.
For those suffering from acne or breakouts, add in ¼ cup of plain yoghurt and 2 teaspoons of natural honey. Honey is great for acne treatment and prevention as it’s naturally antibacterial. It also has soothing properties and adds a healthy glow to skin.
Cleansing and tightening face mask - You don’t have to go to a spa for a quick pick-me-up facial treatment. What if you could create a face mask at home that would clean your skin and tighten your pores, using just a handful of ingredients?
For this revitalizing facial mask, you will need: 1 teaspoon of plain natural yoghurt, 1 teaspoon of aloe, the juice from ¼ slice of orange and orange zest. Combine the ingredients and apply all over the face (avoiding the eyes). Let the mixture sit for at least five and up to 20 minutes, before rinsing off.
Aloe is a beauty staple, with many health benefits including reducing inflammation and leaving skin feeling soft, whilst the oranges citric properties add radiance and revitalise the skin. The orange zest acts as a natural exfoliant.
The face mask that does it all - Looking for a face mask that will leave you looking great and feeling even greater? Try this oatmeal recipe.
Gently add ⅓ cup of dried oats to ½ cup of hot (but not boiling) water. Allow the mixture to settle for two to three minutes before mixing in 2 tablespoons of plain yoghurt, 2 tablespoons of honey and 1 egg white. Then, apply a thin layer of the mask all over the face. Leave this on for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
We all know that oatmeal has numerous health benefits but it has lots of beauty benefits too! Oatmeal can help treat acne as it soaks up excess oil in the skin. It’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties are known for helping to treat dry skin and remove dead skin cells. If that wasn’t enough, oats contain natural cleansing compounds called saponins. These help to remove excess oil and dirt, unclogging pores and exfoliating the skin.
Give yourself a mani/pedi

Practice some self-massage techniques
Full of aches and pains? There’s a massage for that! A good massage can seemingly rid the world of most of its problems, leaving you feeling lighter and brighter once those pesky knots have been taken care of. Whether you are a seasoned professional or are completely new to massage, there are a few self-massages techniques you can practice at home until your next spa visit.
Head massage - Placing the heels of your palms underneath the hair on either side of your head, apply gentle pressure and push the scalp upwards toward the ceiling. Hold for a few seconds, and then release. Work in sections across the scalp to relieve tension.
Hand massage - Relax one arm, on top of your thigh, with your palm facing upwards. Using the opposite arm, apply pressure and push the heel of your palm slowly along the forearm towards the wrist. Continue across the open palm, all the way down to the fingers. Repeat this motion a few times and then switch hands.
Neck and shoulder massage - Relax your shoulders, and make sure that they are not hunched up. Slowly tuck your chin in towards your chest. This will elongate the neck, giving it a good stretch. Using two or three fingertips, press firmly on the nape of your neck and hold for a few moments until the muscle feels more relaxed. Roll your shoulders forward and backwards slowly, in circular motions. Repeat as needed.

No spa visit, no problem. One of the best things about visiting a spa is enjoying a luxurious, bubbly soak in a hot tub or jacuzzi. But you don’t have to visit a spa to get your hot tub fix.
