About
Synonymous with first-time tourists, M&Ms and nightlife, Leicester Square isn’t the place you’d normally associate with five-star luxury. But The Londoner is no ordinary hotel. With 16 glitzy stories (eight of those below ground!) the capital’s first ‘super-boutique’ hotel has been making waves since it opened its doors in the autumn of 2021. From the subterranean wellness floor to the glitzy rooftop restaurant, when it comes to glamour, The Londoner delivers on every level.
Step off bustling Leicester Square and into the lobby Champagne bar. Dimly lit with plenty of plush velvet and artworks, the chaos outside melts away. Resident of one of The Londoner’s 350 rooms and suites? Lucky you. Your room key opens up the door to The Residence - three guest-only lounges where you’ll find complimentary snacks and a secret whisky tasting room. The hotel even has two Odeon Luxe screening rooms and its own pub!
Let the lift whisk you down to The Retreat for some urban spa decadence. Snuggle in a soft robe and enjoy the ambient soundtrack as you swan around the tranquil 12m pool and thermal suite. Poolside cabana beds make it easy to while away an afternoon, but there’s also a slick gym, two tranquil treatment rooms and a health bar called Refuel for smoothies and superfood salads.
With so many once-in-a-lifetime wellness experiences to try, even seasoned spa connoisseurs won’t fail to be impressed. But if you do decide to venture out, you won’t be stuck for things to do. On the south-west corner of Leicester Square, as locations go it’s hard to beat. With the galleries of Trafalgar Square to the south, the flavours of Chinatown to the north, the lights of Piccadilly to the west and Covent Garden to the East, a stay here puts you in the beating heart of London’s West End.
But when you’re tired of shopping and sightseeing, know that The Retreat at The Londoner awaits you. Featuring the latest wellness experiences and the ultimate in poolside lounging, you’ll feel tension drift away in one of the capital’s hottest spa destinations.

The Spa & Wellness at The Retreat at The Londoner
Whether you're in need of a mind-soothing massage, transformative facial or a peaceful pool day with someone special, The Retreat has got you covered. This subterranean wonderland is one of the capital's hottest wellness retreats - and it won’t take you long to discover why it’s one of the city’s most talked about spas.
Like the rest of this super-boutique hotel, The Retreat has been carefully planned and executed with just one thing in mind - spoiling you rotten. From the poolside cabanas to the top-notch treatments, nothing has been left to chance - and the facilities second to none.
Leave the buzz of Leicester Square behind as the lift whizzes you down to floor minus-four. After a spot of London sightseeing, there really is no better way to relax than time spent in this underground temple of tranquility. Slip into a luxuriously soft robe and slippers, and pad to the beautifully-lit poolside area where your urban spa experience begins.
Water baby? There’s a dreamy 12m azure lap pool flanked by luxuriously soft daybeds to sprawl out in. Flit between the steam room and sauna then take a soak in the hydro pool. Immerse yourself in the heated, bubbly water, then lie back on a poolside lounger
Time for your treatment? Pad along to two blissfully calm treatment rooms complete with heated beds. Choose from a handpicked selection of treatments from luxury spa brands, led by a team of expert therapists.
The Gym & Fitness at The Retreat at The Londoner
Revolutionise the way you workout at The Retreat. The Londoner’s subterranean wellness floor features its own ultra-modern gym with a boutique space for cool-downs, stretching and group fitness classes like yoga.
The gym floor is fully kitted out with Technogym weights and cardio machines. You’re welcome to go it alone. Or go for some one-on-one training and get a bespoke workout from one of the capital’s best wellness experts. Some of the spa packages on offer even include a personal training session. You can energise while you’re being pampered!
Prefer to exercise in the fresh air? A jog or power walk through Covent Garden then down by the Thames is lovely. Go early in the morning to see London waking up for the day ahead.
You could even burn some calories by taking in the sights on two wheels. Santander Cycles, London's public bicycle hire scheme, lets you just grab a bike and start riding. You can go wherever the wind takes you, but if you’re not confident Green Park is under a mile away, with plenty of opportunities for traffic-free cycling.
Restaurants & Food at The Retreat at The Londoner
The spa has its own health bar for delicious, wholesome dishes. Called Refuel, the beautifully-presented food mirrors the ethos of The Retreat. Choose from detoxifying smoothies, beauty juices, nourishing body wraps, and Ayurvedic morning ritual bowls,
Decadent lobby bar The Stage pays homage to neighbouring theatreland with its quirky design – think elegant armchairs, plush velvets and a dramatic bar. It serves an all-day menu and afternoon tea, with Champagne as the star of the show. For something more substantial, head to The Londoner’s signature restaurant Whitcomb’s for a contemporary French Mediterranean medley of small plates and mains.
Here for an extra special occasion? Nothing says celebration like the hotel’s signature restaurant. Called 8, this rooftop lounge serves contemporary Japanese cuisine. Alongside unbeatable skyline views you’ll find an indoor-outdoor garden with a firepit and retractable roof. In-house DJs keep the vibe buzzy at this epitome of London cool.
More casual is Joshua’s Tavern on the ground floor. This is The Londoner’s own speak-easy style gin pub, inspired by the 18th-century artist and former Leicester Square resident Joshua Reynolds. Make ours a G&T!
