About

Glorious golf. Luxurious leisure. Big-sky views over the Chiltern Hills. At the Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa you’ll feel your shoulders drop the moment you arrive. Set within 300 acres of countryside, this four-star golf and spa resort feels like a true escape – a luxurious bolthole where sports lovers and spa-seekers can both find their happy place.

Sweep up the drive and you’ll see why this hotel is a firm favourite for special occasions. That championship course isn’t just fun to play. Its apple‑green fairways wrap around the hotel, dotted with lakes and framed by woodland. Perched above it all, The Oxfordshire lets you take in the natural splendour from the comfort of 50 spacious bedrooms, several of which also come with private balconies. And when hunger strikes, Sakura Restaurant serves modern dishes with panoramic views of the course, making every meal feel like you’re in the heart of the action.

But it’s not all about birdies and nine-irons here. Swap your clubs for a soft robe at Tempus Spa, and indulge in Comfort Zone rituals in three zen-like treatment rooms. A 15m indoor swimming pool, spa pool, sauna and steam room add to the relaxation factor. And with a fully-equipped health club and gym, this is a wellness destination in its own right.

Perfectly placed between London and the Midlands, the resort makes an easy meeting point for far‑flung friends. The irresistible designer discounts of Bicester Village are just a short drive away, while culture lovers can head into Oxford, home to world‑class museums and those dreaming spires. Wander the local market towns of Thame and Wallingford, explore historic estates such as Waddesdon Manor or Blenheim Palace, or follow one of the walking trails that weave through the Chiltern Hills.

But with so much to do back at your resort, we wouldn’t blame you for just staying put and making the most of it. With exquisite views, a championship golf course and a spa designed for deep relaxation, The Oxfordshire makes it wonderfully easy to fill your time. Just remember to bring your phone or card. The Oxfordshire is a cashless venue, so paying for those little extra treats is just as effortless as the rest of your stay!

Please note: This hotel operates a cashless system.

The Spa & Wellness at The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa

Any visit to The Oxfordshire feels like an escape from the ordinary. But step inside the Tempus Spa and you’ll feel the world melt gently away. The hotel’s serene wellness hideaway has a 15m indoor pool for leisurely laps, a bubbling spa pool and a sauna and steam room to enjoy. That should coax the tension from your shoulders!

Time for your treatment? You’ll head to one of three tranquil treatment rooms. Here, expert therapists use Comfort Zone products (known for their science‑led formulas and gorgeous textures) across a mouth-watering menu of massages, facials and body rituals. Finish with a Mii manicure or pedicure in the dedicated nail area, then head back to the spa for more relaxing. Just be careful not to smudge!

The Gym & Fitness at The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa

Want to squeeze in a little movement on your spa day? The Oxfordshire makes it easy-peasy. The hotel’s modern fitness suite comes equipped with everything you need for a feel‑good workout, including a fully kitted‑out gym and a dedicated weights area. There’s even a studio for circuit training, yoga and pilates – perfect for those who don’t like to go it alone.

Sports lovers can play a round on the championship course. But if you don’t fancy teeing off, there are also some fantastic walks around the grounds and fairways that let you get your steps up in the fresh air.

The Chiltern Hills are close enough for longer hikes, and there are plenty of footpaths leading straight from the hotel into open fields and quiet lanes. But if you’re craving something more adventurous, High Ropes Oxford offers a full treetop challenge, while nearby Willen Lake offers paddleboarding and kayaking.

Restaurants & Food at The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa

If your spa day has left you feeling ravenous, The Oxfordshire has you covered. Sakura is the hotel’s main restaurant, with floor‑to‑ceiling windows that overlook the golf course, so you can tuck into your crab bonbons while watching the sun go down over the fairways. The menu leans towards modern British dishes with a few creative twists thrown in for good measure.

For something more casual, the Lakes Lounge is a lovely spot to drift into after your treatment. It’s bright and airy, with big comfy chairs, and the views of the lake are surprisingly soothing. This is the place for a coffee, a cocktail or a slice of something sweet.

Finally there’s the Spike Bar, which has a totally different vibe – relaxed, buzzy and a little sportier thanks to TV screens showing the latest match. It’s ideal if you want a quick bite, a cold drink or a laid‑back lunch between rounds of golf.

Get Directions

How to get to the Spa?

By train: The nearest station is Haddenham & Thame Parkway, around five miles from the hotel. It sits on the Marylebone–Birmingham line, so it’s an easy hop from London or the Midlands. From there, a short taxi ride will bring you straight to the hotel’s front door.

By bus: Several local bus routes serve the wider area, but none stop directly outside the hotel. If you’re travelling by public transport, it’s best to take the train and a taxi.

By car: Pop OX9 2PU into your sat nav. The Oxfordshire is easy to reach from the M40. Leave the motorway at Junction 7 and follow the A329 towards Thame – the hotel is about 1.5 miles along on the right. Alternatively, from Junction 8A, take the A418, then turn right onto the A40, and follow signs to the A329.

Parking: Parking is free of charge for all guests, with plenty of spaces available.

A lovely location, staff were really friendly and the sauna and steam room were really good. Some of the facilities like the gym and changing room are in need of some a refresh. The lunch was a nice bonus to be included and was very tasty.

We had a great time. The facilities were a little tired, but all clean and working, and for the price were perfect. But the star of the show was lunch with a view. Our food and service was fantastic, with a beautiful view of the grounds, and my dessert was other worldly. Have already recommended this package to people that live within an hours travel. It really is great value, and we feel rejuvenated and grateful for the experience. Many thanks, Sarah.

Ooh, yes it does – and many of the spa packages on offer include it as part of your day. Put your pinkie up every day between 2pm and 4pm in the Sakura Restaurant, where you get to enjoy lashings of finger sandwiches served amid gorgeous panoramic views over the golf course and the Chiltern Hills.

Expect three tiers piled high with homemade scones with clotted cream and preserves, and a selection of delicate cakes and pastries, all paired with your choice of tea or coffee. If you’re feeling fancy, you can upgrade to a glass of Prosecco to add the sparkle.

Is there a swimming pool at The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa?

There is! Water babies will be in heaven thanks to a 15m swimming pool, complete with spa bath. Have a dip, then retreat to the comfort of the sauna and steam room – or just stretch out on a lounger like the poolside goddess that you are!

Is there accommodation at The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa?

Yes there is, and it’s every bit as relaxing as the spa itself. The Oxfordshire offers 50 contemporary, spacious bedrooms and suites designed with comfort in mind. Featuring handmade furnishings, many executive rooms come with private balconies overlooking the championship golf course, so you can wake up to glorious views.

Rooms are fresh and modern, with pocket-sprung beds, huge bathrooms with separate baths and shower cubicles, and all the little luxe touches that make a spa break feel indulgent.

Is The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa accessible?

Absolutely. The resort is designed to be as welcoming and accessible as possible. There are lifts to all floors and a selection of accessible bedrooms to make your stay comfortable. The spa can be reached by stairs or lift, and once you’re inside, all the facilities sit on one easy, level space. Access to the pool is via two ladders and a set of  stairs, although there are no poolside lifts or hoists.

Here on an overnight break? Check-in is from 3pm on your day of arrival and you’ll need to check-out at 11am on your day of departure. Spa days usually begin at 9.30am, but do check your booking confirmation for full details.

Is The Oxfordshire a cashless venue?

It is indeed. From 31 January 2026, The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa went completely cashless, keeping everything just as faff‑free and fabulous as the rest of your time here. All payments throughout the hotel need to be made by card or contactless. They accept all the biggies, including Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay or Google Pay. So as long as you’ve got your phone or card to hand, you’re good to go.

Where is The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa located?

Is The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa family-friendly?

Want to pamper and play? While the minimum age for spa packages at the Tempus is 18, families are welcome to join the fun at The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa. There’s lots of room to roam, kids can splash in the pool every morning until 10am and there’s a children’s menu to keep even the fussiest family members well-fed.

Nearby you’ll find plenty of family-friendly attractions to tire out little legs. Oxford Adventure Park lets mini explorers run wild, while Hogshaw Farm & Wildlife Park gets them up close and personal with the animals.

Is The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa pet-friendly?

Sorry, this one’s strictly for humans. Only service dogs get a VIP (very important pooch) pass at The Oxfordshire. But while the hotel isn’t dog‑friendly, it’s definitely people‑friendly – perfect for couples, groups of friends or anyone looking to unwind in style!

Is there a golf club at The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa?

The clue’s in the name with this one – of course there is! Designed by world-renowned course architect Rees Jones, it’s said to be one of the most exciting courses in the country!

Luckily, it’s a layout that rewards strategy as much as skill. So whether you’re a confident player or a total newbie, it’s a brilliant place to tee off. And because the course stays in great condition year‑round, you can enjoy the full experience even in the darkest depths of winter.
