About

Ready to take your self-care to the next level? Forget cashmere and candles, and down tools at The Altus Life. Hampshire’s hidden gem for health and healing is tucked away in an elegant Grade II listed manor house, nestled amidst 45 acres of beautiful woodland in the peaceful village of West Tytherley. But while the setting is steeped in history, the wellness on offer is anything but old-fashioned. Think cutting-edge therapies, science-backed treatments and an ultra-modern approach to feeling your best.

Start your journey to an optimised you with a floatation therapy session, where you’ll drift weightlessly in a warm, Epsom-salt infused pod. Then there’s contrast therapy. This favourite among elite athletes and wellness insiders sees you alternating between the soothing heat of an infrared sauna and the icy thrill of a plunge bath, stimulating circulation and easing inflammation. Add in red light therapy, altitude training, sports massage, breathwork and yoga, and you’ve got a menu of treatments that’s as restorative as it is results-driven.

But while The Altus Life is ideal for those who take their wellbeing seriously, the vibe is calm and cosy, rather than cold and clinical. Robes are soft, interiors are serene and there’s a distinct sense of quiet luxury. Sessions take place in private suites, and afterwards you’re invited to unwind in the Relaxation Room. Private showers are available in both the sauna and floatation rooms, and if you’re feeling energised, the estate grounds offer space to move, breathe and reconnect. It’s the kind of place where your nervous system finally gets the memo to relax.

Fancy stretching your legs post-treatment? You’re perfectly placed to explore Hampshire’s treasures. Nearby Stockbridge is a haven of riverside walks, while Salisbury offers cathedral spires and market-town charm. You’re also within reach of Stonehenge, Winchester and the rolling hills of the South Downs – ideal for a mindful hike. Love to shop? Head to Winchester, where cobbled streets lead to artisan stores, stylish homeware shops and the award-winning Winchester Farmers’ Market – one of the largest in the UK.

But chances are you won’t want to leave all that’s on offer at The Altus Life. Offering wellness with depth, elegance and just the right amount of science, some day spa packages let you pick from healthy platters and sip coffee, tea or herbal teas. But if you want to toast your transformation with a glass of fizz afterwards in a cosy pub in West Tytherley? We won’t tell. Balance, after all, is what The Altus Life is all about.

The Spa & Wellness at The Altus Life

Looking for a wellness experience that goes deeper than the usual spa day? The Altus Life is a sanctuary for those seeking real recovery, not just relaxation. More than just pampering, it’s about resetting your nervous system, boosting resilience and restoring balance through science-backed therapies delivered in private surroundings.

Here’s a look at what’s on offer…

Floatation Therapy: Step into a warm pod infused with Epsom salts and experience true weightlessness. With external stimuli removed, your body enters a deeply restorative state. It’s ideal for stress relief, injury rehab, or simply switching off from the world.

Contrast Hydrotherapy: This signature treatment alternates between the soothing heat of an infrared sauna and the invigorating chill of an ice bath. The infrared heat penetrates deeply to relax muscles and improve circulation, while the cold plunge stimulates lymphatic flow, reduces inflammation and floods the body with endorphins. It’s a favourite among athletes – but the endorphin-boosting benefits are universal.

Red Light Therapy with Yoga Nidra: Red light therapy uses low-level wavelengths to stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation and support skin health. Paired with Yoga Nidra (a guided meditative practice that promotes deep rest) this winning combination helps regulate the nervous system and restore mental clarity.

Private yoga & breathwork: Whether you’re new to movement or a seasoned yogi, The Altus Life offers tailored sessions in restorative yoga and parasympathetic breathwork. These practices are designed to calm the body, improve flexibility and support emotional wellbeing.

The Gym & Fitness at The Altus Life

Spa packages at The Altus Life in Hampshire don’t mean you have to ditch your fitness goals. Pack your yoga pants, because this place is more than just float pods and infrared saunas. It’s a performance hub designed to help you move, recover and thrive.

Yoga often comes part of the day spa experiences, and it’s not just your standard flow. Think Yoga Nidra paired with red light therapy – a deeply restorative combo that recharges both body and mind. Or try Yin yoga, a meditative practice focusing on deep stretches and relaxation.

But if you're craving more movement, there’s plenty to explore. Altitude training is available for those wanting to boost cardiovascular fitness or prep for a mountain climb. You can also book functional breathwork sessions, sports massage or run coaching to help you achieve that elusive PB.

And if you fancy stretching your legs beyond this cutting-edge wellness centre,, you’re in luck. It’s tucked away in the historic Norman Court, an elegant Grade II listed manor house, nestled amidst 45 acres of beautiful woodland and countryside – perfect for a reflective walk.

Restaurants & Food at The Altus Life

At The Altus Life, nourishment comes as part of the wellness philosophy! During select couples and group retreats, you’ll eat from healthy food platters, piled high with goodies designed to complement the therapies on offer – light, balanced and satisfying without weighing you down. These are paired with a choice of herbal teas, coffee and tea, all served in serene surroundings.

The food offering is intentionally simple, aligning with the centre’s ethos of clarity and balance. Rather than indulgence, it’s about mindful eating, to help you energise without breaking the day’s therapeutic flow.

For those extending their stay or exploring the village, The Black Horse offers a slice of local heritage. This 17th-century coaching inn has been at the heart of West Tytherley for over 400 years, welcoming visitors with open fires, real ales and hearty fare.

Drive through the open gates and follow the gentle incline – you’ll pass open fields and the old cricket pavilion on your right. Continue through the ancient tree-lined avenue until you reach the front of Norman Court. Altus is located in the West Wing.

Parking: Free parking is available on-site.
