About
Fancy a spa day in one of London’s most extraordinary addresses? Lumi Spa is tucked inside the Courthouse Hotel London Soho, the Grade II listed former magistrates’ court where John Lennon, Mick Jagger and Oscar Wilde all stood before the bench. But the only sentence handed out in Lumi Spa is a blissful spell of relaxation! Opened in 2025, this glamorous urban retreat has a warm pool, a sauna and one of the hottest treatments around: the Japanese Head Spa.
With Liberty and Carnaby Street just across the road, Lumi Spa makes the perfect Soho escape. Step inside and the bustle melts away thanks to a calming palette of earthy tones offset by quirky design touches, like the shell-shaped chairs sitting beneath a stained-glass window in reception. Start by slipping into the Roman bathhouse-style pool, then warm up in the sauna before heading to the glass-walled relaxation area for a glass of fizz on a chic deckchair – it’s the closest thing to a seaside holiday you’ll find in Soho!
Once you’re suitably prune-like, it’s time for your treatment from one of three cosy therapy rooms. And if you’ve never tried a Japanese Head Spa before, prepare to be converted! It starts with a deep scalp cleanse and a soothing neck and scalp massage, while the longer version adds an aromatherapy head massage, conditioning mask and hair steam. Prefer a classic? Choose from Swedish, deep tissue and hot stone massages, or a Polynesian body scrub.
All that pampering is sure to work up an appetite, and the hotel has plenty to tempt you. Soho Wala serves up fresh Indian street food, while afternoon tea is served traditional or Indian-inspired. Afterwards, head up to Soho Sky Terrace for skyline views, or sip a cocktail in The BAR, where the booths are set inside the original prison cells. If you’re planning on staying the night, the Courthouse Hotel’s 116 rooms and suites blend sleek, modern design with plenty of original features from its courtroom days. Look out for photos of famous defendants in the lobby!
When you’re ready to venture out, the West End is yours to explore. Liberty’s mock-Tudor splendour is directly opposite, Carnaby Street’s independent boutiques are on your doorstep and the London Palladium is right next door. Oxford Circus is just a three-minute walk away, putting the shops of Regent Street and Oxford Street within easy reach, while the bright lights of theatreland and the bars of Soho are only a short stroll away.

The Spa & Wellness at Lumi Spa
The Courthouse Hotel has long been one of Soho’s most characterful addresses, and in 2025 its spa got a glamorous new chapter. Lumi Spa replaced the hotel’s former spa with a fresh, contemporary sanctuary, designed as a calm retreat from the rush of the West End. Whether you’re flying solo, catching up with friends or treating someone special, it’s a soothing pocket of calm just steps from Oxford Street.
The Japanese Head Spa is the undisputed star of the treatment menu but don’t overlook the rest. Lomi Lomi massage, inspired by traditional Hawaiian techniques, works its flowing magic on your neck, back and shoulders, while the Polynesian body scrub blends vanilla-scented Bora Bora sand, sea salt, coconut shell and algo-monoi for skin that feels holiday-ready.
After your treatment, take time to linger. The warm relaxation pool is made for floating, so lie back and let your muscles unwind, then bask in the heat of the sauna. Finish up in the glass-walled relaxation area, glass of bubbly in hand, for the perfect way to relax in the heart of Soho.
The Gym & Fitness at Lumi Spa
Like to lunge before lunch? The Courthouse Hotel has a compact fitness room with a couple of treadmills, a cross-trainer, a cycling machine and free weights. The catch? It’s reserved for hotel guests, so unless you’re staying the night, you’ll need to find another way to work up a sweat!
But why stay indoors? Lace up your trainers and head west to Hyde Park, where the paths around the Serpentine are made for a scenic jog. Or venture north to Regent’s Park for a loop of its leafy Outer Circle. If you’d rather keep it gentle, a stroll through Green Park and St James’s Park takes in Buckingham Palace along the way.
Prefer two wheels? Santander Cycles, London’s public bike hire scheme, has docking stations dotted around the West End, with pedal bikes costing just £1.65 for 30 minutes. Pedal through the Royal Parks, take in the sights or simply cycle off those afternoon tea calories. Just make sure you’re back in time for your treatment!
Restaurants & Food at Lumi Spa
Whether you’re after a classic spread or a spice-filled feast, afternoon tea is the perfect partner to a spa day. And the good news? It’s included with some of Lumi Spa’s packages, so just check the details of your chosen deal.
Served in the hotel restaurant, or on the rooftop when the weather allows, the Traditional Afternoon Tea is a true British classic, featuring dainty finger sandwiches, warm, crumbly scones with clotted cream and jam, and a selection of sweet treats. Fancy something with a little more kick? The Indian Afternoon Tea puts a vibrant twist on tradition, with spiced savouries, miniature Indian street food bites and exotic sweets. Both come with a glass of fizz, and vegetarian and vegan options are available on request.
Soho Wala serves up the explosive flavours of Mumbai street food amid wooden slats and neon lights, so don’t miss the crispy pani puri. For drinks with a view, head up to Soho Sky Terrace on the sixth floor, where panoramic views across the London skyline come with patio heaters, cosy rugs and chilled music.
Back downstairs, don’t miss The BAR set in the old cell block. You can sip a cocktail inside one of the tiny former cells, decorated with murals of famous ‘inmates’ like Mick Jagger and John Lennon, and complete with the original lavatories (don’t worry, these are just for show!).
Just remember! These spots are popular with locals, so it’s well worth booking ahead, especially for the terrace in summer.

How to get to the Spa?

By bus: While no buses run along Great Marlborough Street itself, plenty of routes stop on nearby Regent Street, just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel.

The daily charge is £18 if paid in advance or on the day, via the TfL website. Depending on your vehicle, ULEZ charges may apply too.
Parking: There’s no on-site parking, but Q-Park Soho on Poland Street (W1F 7NQ) is just a three-minute walk away.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Lumi Spa do afternoon tea?
It certainly does, and there are two to choose from. The Traditional Afternoon Tea is a British classic of finger sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream and jam, and sweet treats. Fancy something spicier? The Indian Afternoon Tea features spiced savouries, miniature Indian street food bites and exotic sweets.
Both are served with a glass of fizz, either in the hotel restaurant or on the rooftop when the weather allows. Vegetarian and vegan options are available on request, and afternoon tea must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.
Is there a swimming pool at Lumi Spa?
There is, but it’s more for floating than perfecting your front crawl. Lumi’s warm indoor pool feels a bit like a luxurious Roman bathhouse. It’s designed for relaxation rather than swimming lengths, making it the perfect spot to unwind before or after your treatment. And with a pool something of a rarity in the heart of Soho, it’s a real treat!
Alongside the pool, you’ll find a sauna and a glass-walled relaxation area overlooking the water, where you can kick back in a deckchair or squashy beanbag, preferably with a glass of fizz in hand. Most spa packages include an hour in the facilities, but check the details of your chosen deal, as some packages don’t include access.
Are robes, towels and slippers provided at Lumi Spa?
Robes, towels and slippers aren’t included as standard with spa packages, but they’re available to hire from the spa for £8 per person. If you’d rather not pay the extra, simply pack your own towel, robe and flip-flops along with your swimwear.
Is there accommodation at Lumi Spa?
Lumi Spa sits inside the five-star Courthouse Hotel London Soho, so turning your spa day into a stay couldn’t be easier. The hotel has 116 rooms and suites, blending the building’s heritage with sleek, modern design.
For a real sense of history, book one of the eight Magistrate Suites, set in the high-ceilinged former judges’ chambers, with separate living spaces, original Robert Adam fireplaces and marble bathrooms complete with baths and rainforest showers. But even the entry-level Classic Rooms are a generous 25 sqm, with air conditioning, a mini fridge and Sky TV, including Sky Sports.
And for a night in with a difference, the hotel has its own 100-seat cinema, one of the largest private cinemas in London. Its Saturday Night Classics screenings come with lunch, afternoon tea or dinner, plus a champagne cocktail. Now that’s what we call a film night!
What time is check-in and check-out at Lumi Spa?
Check-in for hotel guests is from 3pm, and check-out is by 11am. The spa itself is open from 10am to 7pm, seven days a week. If you’re booked in for a spa day, arrival times vary, so do check your booking confirmation.
Where is Lumi Spa?
You’ll find it at 19–21 Great Marlborough Street, right where Soho, Mayfair and the West End meet. Liberty is directly opposite, the London Palladium is next door, and Carnaby Street is just moments away.
Oxford Circus Underground station is a three-minute walk, putting the shops of Oxford Street and Regent Street on your doorstep. Theatreland, Soho’s buzzing bars and restaurants, and attractions like the Royal Opera House and Leicester Square are all within easy reach, too.
Is Lumi Spa family-friendly?
Sorry, it isn’t. Lumi Spa is designed as a peaceful, grown-up retreat, for people aged 18 and over. However the Courthouse Hotel itself welcomes children of all ages, and free cots are available on request for younger guests. And if you’re exploring with the family, the surrounding area is packed with fun. Hamleys, the famous toy shop, is just a short stroll away on Regent Street, while Carnaby Street’s colourful boutiques make for a fun wander.
Is Lumi Spa accessible?
Yes it is. Lumi Spa has accessible changing rooms and accessible treatment rooms. The Courthouse Hotel itself is wheelchair accessible, with access ramps, lifts to all floors and accessible routes to the reception, concierge desk, restaurant and lounge.
If you’re staying overnight, the hotel has 10 accessible rooms. These are more spacious than standard rooms, with lower beds, easier-to-reach wardrobes, extra-wide bathroom doors and visual alarms.
Is Lumi Spa dog-friendly?
Sorry, but pets aren’t allowed at Lumi Spa or the Courthouse Hotel, so you’ll have to leave your four-legged friend at home this time. We’ll leave you to break the news to Fido…
