About

Like to tee off on the greens or zen out in tranquility? An East Sussex National spa break lets you do both. Set on the fringes of the South Downs, this luxury resort pairs championship‑level golf with deeply restorative downtime, making it one of the UK’s best spa-and-par destinations. Two mature parkland courses, a golf academy and clubhouse ensure sports fans are well-catered for. But whenever you’re ready to swap birdies for bliss, the award-winning Horsted Health Club & Spa awaits with ESPA treatments, thermal experiences and a 20m heated pool.

While many country hotels boast expansive grounds, East Sussex National stretches across a staggering 1,100 acres of apple-green fairways and peaceful countryside. Four‑star and family‑owned, the resort borders the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, giving each of its 104 bedrooms far-reaching views. Superb dining can be had in the open-plan Hunnington Restaurant, a newly refurbished grill space with a dedicated cocktail bar. Or glam up and head to the Pavilion Restaurant – it’s the proud holder of two AA Rosettes, so you know you’re in for something special.

Leisure-lovers will be in their element. The two 18‑hole courses are widely regarded as some of the best in the country – in fact, the East Course has even hosted the European Open twice! But if golf isn’t your bag, there’s plenty of other ways to get fit and feel good, from high‑intensity HYROX workouts, immersive virtual rides in the spin studio, or gentler options like yoga, Pilates and aqua fit in the pool.

But if all that sounds a touch energetic, just head directly to Horsted Spa. Cocoon yourself in your robe and slippers and drift between softly lit relaxation spaces. Unwind in the aromatherapy room, refresh under the monsoon shower, or sink into the tranquillity suite before trying out unique rituals, such as the TheraJet dry‑hydrotherapy bed, the steamy mud rhassoul or the deeply comforting VOYA bathing rituals.

If you fancy exploring beyond the estate, you’re ideally located for a Sussex day out. Head into historic Lewes to explore its medieval castle, or take a 30-minute drive to the vibrant seaside city of Brighton for the pebbly beach and aquarium. If you’re a fan of classical music and opera, Glyndebourne Opera House is just 15 minutes down the road, and both Camber Sands and Hastings are only a short drive away.

Reasonably priced spa day. Treatments really good, Emily great therapist. Food choice quite good. Only downside was Jacuzzi not working and aqua class in pool so restricted access to overall facilities.

We’ve just returned from an amazing stay at East Sussex National Hotel. We had an overnight stay, 3 course dinner, breakfast, use of the spa and treatments. The whole experience was amazing! The spa was great, treatments were so relaxing but the food was the star of the show!! Such good value for money, everyone was so friendly and professional and we loved our stay. Will definitely be returning!

Booked the 25 min x2 treatments for the two of us. The massages were amazing and then relaxing in the tranquillity lounge was just what was needed. Special mention for Daisy who managed to rearrange our bookings when we got stuck in traffic and got late.

Very good compared to last year! But the wooden loungers in the tranquil room are very uncomfortable and not one person wanted to sit on them!
