About

With its iconic white cliffs, captivating castle and scattering of Roman ruins, Dover is more than just a gateway to the continent. And when you check in to the Dover Marina Hotel & Spa, part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection, you’ll be right at the heart of it all. This Grade II-listed beauty sits proudly on Dover’s seafront, blending Regency-era elegance with knockout views of the coast. If you like your pampering served with lashings of vitamin sea, this will be your perfect spot.

Long-cherished as a local landmark, a multi-million-pound glow-up has transformed the Dover Marina Hotel into a seaside sanctuary with serious swagger. The hotel’s 122 rooms are now a masterclass in coastal elegance, with crisp white linens and thoughtful amenities. Some even come with private balconies, perfect for sipping your morning coffee while watching the ferries glide by.

Downstairs, the brasserie-style Mr White’s English Chophouse serves up classic British fare with a French twist, or get your fix of traditional fish and chips at Wheeler’s. The Churchill Bar’s deep armchairs and panoramic windows give you front-row seats to the English Channel – and even a sneak peek at the French coast on a clear day.

But for the most luxurious relaxation of all, head downstairs to the newly refurbished Waterfront Spa. This subterranean sanctuary boasts seven treatment rooms, a steam room, sauna, spa pool, and a peaceful relaxation room. Therapists offer a menu of indulgent Elemis treatments, all tailored to your needs. But for something a little deeper, try an Ayurvedic therapy that draws on ancient Indian rituals to rebalance body and mind. And if all that relaxation leaves you feeling energetic, there’s also a boutique gym crammed with cardio kit.

Ideal for a romantic weekend, a pre-cruise stopover, or a solo spa retreat, Dover Marina Hotel & Spa delivers sheer seaside serenity. But step outside and you’re moments from Dover’s most iconic sights. Dover Castle towers just up the hill, while the Roman Painted House is just a short stroll away. It features ancient murals that once decorated a Roman hotel – proof that Dover’s been hosting guests for centuries! Dover Museum and the Bronze Age Boat Gallery are ideal for culture lovers, while the marina, beach, and town centre are all within easy reach, so you can take your pick of windswept walks.

Ready for a treatment? With seven therapy rooms, the spa offers a menu of massages, facials and rituals using luxurious Elemis products. But alongside the traditional, you’ll find a selection of Ayurveda therapies that draw on ancient Indian wisdom to balance body and mind. From energising Abhyanga massages to calming Shirodhara oil rituals, these treatments offer a deeper level of relaxation and renewal.

And when your pampering ends, the calm continues! The spa’s relaxation room is a quiet cocoon where you can sip herbal tea, let your thoughts drift, and soak up that spa-afterglow in peace.

Prefer your exercise with lashings of sea air? You’re in for a treat. The hotel’s prime seafront location means you’re just steps from the beach and promenade – perfect for a morning jog or a breezy power-walk. If you’re feeling adventurous, the White Cliffs of Dover offer dramatic hiking trails, or try dinghy sailing, windsurfing and kayaking in the English Channel.

Restaurants & Food at Dover Marina Hotel & Spa, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Got a taste for sea views, classic cocktails and elegant decor? You’ll love the hotel’s brasserie-style restaurant. Called Mr White’s Chophouse after its chef patron Marco Pierre White, it serves a classic British menu, sprinkled with French flair and a big helping of gazing out of the windows at those famous white cliffs!

For laid-back vibes with a retro seaside twist, head to Marco Pierre White’s Wheeler’s Fish & Chips. The restaurant pays homage to the legendary Wheeler’s brand – once the oldest fish restaurant in the world. It’s now been revived by Marco so expect a few surprises! But you’ll still get to order Wheeler’s famous fish cake, along with those exceptional crispy chips, peeled and cut daily.

Just fancy a tipple? The Churchill Bar is the hotel’s cosy hideaway. With its huge window providing panoramic sea views, it’s the perfect spot for your post-spa G and T.

Booked an over night package. Hotel is decent. Spa staff are lovely however they wouldn’t give out robes and slippers straight away. Treatments were lovely all very clean. The spa facilities are more to be desired the sauna and steam rooms are adequate and could do with a revamp. The Jacuzzi is tiny and gets very busy from people who come in from the gym. Unfortunately due to a naked man the steam room was ruined for me.

The staff at the Marina Hotel and Spa were friendly, professional and polite. The massage I had with Susanna was excellent and I felt truly relaxed… blissful. Relaxing in the twinkling room and the Jacuzzi was delightful. Only criticisms were the water jar in the twinkling room didn’t work and plastic cups were not nice for tea… please get cardboard ones. The two course lunch was basic and acceptable… hardly any goats cheese or walnuts on the beetroot for the starter…. A fresh mozzarella and tomato salad would have been better. The chicken melanise was quite dry and unappealing… again, simple roast chicken with a lovely sauce and veggies would have been preferable. All in all a good experience for the price… but food wise could have done a lot better.

For what we paid extremely impressed with our room, the service, our treatment and meals. A bonus is that a Marco Pierre White Chophouse is the hotel restaurant, so we really enjoyed the food. All staff from spa, to restaurant, to reception were extremely pleasant. We would definitely stay again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Dover Marina Hotel & Spa do afternoon tea?

Yes it does. And is there anything nicer than afternoon tea beside the sea? Served in the elegant Marco Pierre White English Chophouse, the hotel’s traditional English afternoon tea comes with a fabulous view. You can sip your tea while gazing across the English Channel, trying to spot the French coast!

Expect tasty finger sandwiches like roast beef with horseradish, freshly baked sultana scones with clotted cream and jam, and a tempting array of sweet treats. You can pair it with TeaPigs tea or Musetti coffee – or go all out with a glass of Sette Prosecco or Laurent-Perrier Champagne. Don’t mind if we do!

Does Dover Marina Hotel & Spa have a swimming pool?

There’s no swimming pool at Dover Marina Hotel & Spa. But don’t hang up your cossie just yet! You’ll still need it for the subterranean Waterfront Spa, with its soothing hydrotherapy pool, steam room and sauna. Can’t live without a spot of breaststroke? You could brave a dip in the English Channel – it’s just outside!

For sea swimmers, Dover Beach is right on the doorstep and offers calm waters thanks to the harbour wall. For something a little wilder, head east to Langdon Bay, a more secluded spot beneath the cliffs. Just remember: it’s bracing, but totally worth it. No, really!

Does Dover Marina Hotel & Spa have accommodation?

It sure does! Dover Marina Hotel & Spa has 122 rooms to check into, each one a tres chic blend of coastal colours and Regency elegance. Many rooms come with private balconies overlooking the English Channel. The hotel is Grade II-listed, so expect a few characterful quirks like high ceilings and sash windows.

Is Dover Marina Hotel & Spa accessible?

Yes it is. While the building is Grade II-listed, the hotel offers step-free access, accessible rooms and lifts to whisk you to all floors. There are designated accessible parking bays right outside the door.

What are the check-in and check-out times at Dover Marina Hotel & Spa?

Here for a day spa package? Lucky you! Arrival times are generally 10am, but do check your booking confirmation as times can vary. For overnight spa stays, check-in time is from 2pm and check-out time is by 11am.

Is Dover Marina Hotel & Spa family-friendly?

Fabulously so! While children under 16 can’t use the thermal facilities at the Waterfront Spa (and you need to be 18 and over for spa treatments), Dover Marina Hotel & Spa makes a brilliant base for seaside adventures with little ones in tow. The hotel offers family rooms with plenty of space to spread out, and there’s a kids’ menu at Mr. White’s English Chophouse.

Dover Castle is a hit with kids thanks to its secret wartime tunnels and medieval towers, while the Roman Painted House offers a peek into ancient Britain. The beach and promenade are right outside for pebble-hunting and sea-air strolls, and the White Cliffs make for a dramatic backdrop to a family photo.

Is Dover Marina Hotel & Spa pet-friendly?

Time to start packing their overnight bag! Dover Marina Hotel & Spa welcomes well-behaved dogs (and even cats!) in pet-friendly rooms. For £40 per pet, per day, they’ll get their own bed, bowls and a small toy. You can’t leave them alone in the room, and they’re not permitted in any dining areas – a great excuse for ordering room service.

Does Dover Marina Hotel & Spa have a golf course?

While there isn’t a golf course on-site, that doesn’t mean your nine iron will gather dust. The hotel is perfectly placed for golf lovers, with two of the UK’s most prestigious courses just a short drive away in nearby Sandwich.

Prince’s Golf Club is a championship links course with 27 holes and coastal charm. Then there’s the legendary Royal St. George’s Golf Club, host to multiple Open Championships and a bucket-list destination for any keen golfer.
