About
Got a thing for crackling log fires, cracking cream teas and chic outdoor swimming pools? Make a beeline to the multi-award-winning Beechfield House. Tucked away in eight acres of landscaped grounds just 30 minutes from Bath, this wonderful Wiltshire hideaway is a countryside escape with all the traditional trimmings. We’re talking high ceilings, cosy nooks and glorious garden views that will soothe your soul.
With architecture inspired by the 16th Century Italian Renaissance, there’s curb-appeal aplenty. But the luxurious feel continues on the inside, too, thanks to 25 bedrooms bursting with character. Sink into a super king-size bed in one of the individually styled rooms, named after the trees you’ll spy from your sash window. Some boast four-poster beds, others have marble bathrooms – but all come with leafy outlooks and a sense of calm.
Put your skills to the test on the croquet lawn or enjoy a kickabout on the former tennis lawn. Wander through the wild woodland or simply stretch out beside the hotel’s showstopper – a glamorous heated outdoor pool flanked by loungers. Nestled within a suntrap walled garden and open from spring through autumn, it’s the perfect spot to unwind with a cocktail in hand. Squint and you could be in Italy.
If the setting doesn’t win you over, the accolades just might. This Grade II-listed Victorian gem was crowned AA Inspectors’ Choice Country House Hotel 2024–25. The AA Rosette-winning restaurant serves up classic dishes made with produce picked from the kitchen garden. In the mood for something more relaxed? Enjoy a drink on the terrace or in one of the cosy lounges – perfect for a pre-dinner tipple or a lazy afternoon G&T.
With Bath’s Georgian grandeur, Lacock’s cobbled charm and the rolling hills of the Cotswolds all within easy reach, Beechfield House is a serene base for exploring Wiltshire’s best bits. Don’t miss the historic Lacock Abbey and Fox Talbot Museum, the dramatic Caen Hill Locks or the exotic wonders of Longleat Safari Park. But whether you're here to roam or you just want to stay put and recharge, Beechfield House offers everything you need for the quintessential countryside escape.

With eight acres of lush grounds to explore, fitness here is all about fresh air and freedom. Challenge your companions to a game of croquet or football on the lawns, or lace up your trainers and head out on foot. The Beechfield House Loop is a scenic 3.7-mile route that starts right at the hotel’s doorstep, while the Melksham Riverside Walk offers a gentler amble along the River Avon.
If you’re up for venturing a little further afield, Wiltshire has plenty of adventurous ways to stay active. You could even head to the Cotswold Water Park for kayaking, paddleboarding, or even wakeboarding across its 150 lakes.
