About

Thought you had to fly to Dubai to enjoy a spa break in a shimmering skyscraper? Not when you can live the high life at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham. This glitzy glass landmark soars 75 metres above the city, with skyline views and serious spa serenity. It’s been the go-to base for Prime Ministers during many a political conference, thanks to a secret walkway that links directly to the International Convention Centre next door – making it one of the most strategically placed hotels in the city.

Whether you’re here for retail therapy at the Bullring or canal-side cocktails, a stay at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham puts you in prime position for exploring Britain’s second city. Located in the heart of the Convention Quarter, it’s just a short stroll from Brindleyplace, Symphony Hall and the Library of Birmingham. In the mood for something sparkly? Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter is just a short stroll away, while the Mailbox and Bullring are nearby for retail therapy. And if you’ve packed your boogie shoes, you’ll find the city’s nightlife scene is right on your doorstep, too.

But while the Hyatt Regency makes the perfect launchpad for exploring Birmingham’s best bits, its Amala Spa is waiting whenever you want to slow things down. This urban sanctuary boasts five therapy rooms, a Turkish Hammam and a 16-metre heated pool, along with a whirlpool, steam room and sauna (plus a cold plunge if you’re feeling brave). You can even balance relaxation with some mindful movement at the well‑equipped Fitness Centre.

Checking in for the night? The 319-room hotel is a masterclass in modern luxury, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the canal network or city centre below. The atrium lobby is a real showstopper, with ivory marble floors and grand pianos beneath a soaring conservatory ceiling. Dine under the glass roof at Aria for seasonal British dishes or sip cocktails at The Gentleman & Scholar Pub, where parquet floors, crackling fireplaces and a heated terrace add a touch of old-school charm.

So pack your overnight bag and prepare to be pampered. And who knows? You might just be sleeping in the same suite once occupied by a Prime Minister or a pop icon. Over the years, the hotel has welcomed everyone from David Cameron and Tony Blair to international stars like Whitney Houston. It’s proof that this shimmering skyscraper is no stranger to VIPs, just like you!

The Spa & Wellness at Amala Spa at Hyatt Regency Birmingham

Step off bustling Broad Street and into this sanctuary of steamy serenity. Amala Spa is tucked inside the Hyatt Regency Birmingham like a well-kept secret. This urban day spa is a haven of calm with everything you need to escape from reality.

Wrapped in your fluffy robe, you’ll float between the 16-metre heated pool, whirlpool, sauna and steam room. Feeling hot under the collar? Try the cold plunge pool – if you dare!

Treatments range from peels and facials to full-body rituals using Comfort Zone aromatherapy products. Fancy something a little different? Book a private Turkish Hammam experience and let warm steam and traditional techniques work their magic. You’ll arrive frazzled, and leave feeling like you’ve had a holiday in Istanbul!

The Gym & Fitness at Amala Spa at Hyatt Regency Birmingham

Don’t forget your trainers, because the Hyatt Regency Birmingham has plenty of ways to keep your heart pumping. Its Amala Spa is home to a sleek, 24-hour gym packed with Matrix fitness equipment. Whether you’re into cardio, weights or just pretending to stretch while watching TV on the built-in screens, it’s got you covered. There’s even a Concept II rower if you fancy channelling your inner Olympian.

But if the idea of sweating indoors doesn’t float your exercise boat, Birmingham’s great outdoors is calling. The city has more miles of canal than Venice (yes, really), and the towpaths are perfect for jogging, walking or cycling. You can hire a bike through the West Midlands Cycle Hire scheme. Just download the Beryl app, unlock a pedal or e-bike, and off you go!

Fancy a stroll with a view? Head to nearby Edgbaston Reservoir for a gentle loop, or explore the Birmingham Canal Main Line. This waterside wander takes in museums, art galleries and the occasional duck. Cannon Hill Park is another gem, with leafy paths, pedal boats and even a mini golf course if you want to work on your swing.

Restaurants & Food at Amala Spa at Hyatt Regency Birmingham

You’ve pampered yourself at Amala Spa – now it’s time to feed your soul. Luckily the Hyatt Regency Birmingham has dining options that are as stylish as they are satisfying.

Aria Restaurant

A botanical escape in the heart of the city, Aria is set beneath a spectacular glass atrium that floods the space with natural light by day and twinkles with fairy-lit trees by night. The menu showcases British produce, featuring West Midlands PGI-status beef and cheeses sourced from a local merchant. Whether you’re here for a full English breakfast, a Sunday roast, or a traditional afternoon tea, Aria serves it with flair and a flourish.

The Gentleman & Scholar Pub and Terrace

A quintessentially British pub experience in a skyscraping hotel? The Hyatt Regency Birmingham is full of surprises! Its Gentleman & Scholar pub boasts crackling fireplaces, parquet floors – and a name that’s a nod to the city’s academic and industrial heritage. The menu here is pure comfort, with fish and chips, hearty pies and a pint of local ale. Even better, the heated terrace opens onto Broad Street, so you can sip your drink while watching the city buzz by.

Atrium Lobby Bar

For those who prefer their indulgence to come shaken, stirred, or with a twist of citrus, the Atrium Lobby Bar is your go-to. This sleek, contemporary space serves everything from floral cocktails to English wines and local gins. The bar comes alive from 5pm, making it the ideal spot for a pre-dinner aperitif or a post-spa wind-down.
