About

With its live music, arts and street‑food scene, Glasgow has a buzz that never stops. But whenever you need to escape the pace of Scotland’s largest city, you only have to look 30 minutes down the road. Nestled within nearly 40 acres of tranquil parkland near East Kilbride, the 18th‑century manor house of Macdonald Crutherland House Hotel & Spa delivers the ultimate cocktail of country‑house charm, plenty of spa time, delicious food and gorgeous walks.

Originally built in 1705 as a grand manor house for the Lady Dowager of Torrance Castle, this elegant retreat wears its history on its sleeve. Inside you’ll find a cosy lounge for afternoon tea, a classic cocktail bar for a wee dram and more than 70 light‑filled bedrooms and suites. The restaurant pairs fine Scottish produce with sweeping garden views.

And then there’s the spa. Whether you’re burning off dinner or simply sweating out the stress, the Vital Health & Wellbeing Club has Life Fitness equipment, group classes and an impressive 18m indoor pool bathed in natural daylight. You could happily spend hours melting into a signature Elemis or ishga ritual in one of six tranquil treatment rooms, or just drifting between the sauna and steam room.

Crutherland House makes you feel a world away from the bustle of the city, yet you’re still only 30 minutes from central Glasgow. Shop till you drop at the vast EK, East Kilbride Shopping Centre, explore the world‑famous Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, or switch gears entirely with the lush trails and zoo at Calderglen Country Park. For families, the thrills of M&D’s Scotland’s Theme Park are close by too.

Please note: This Hotel operates a cashless system.

The spa was amazing and we went early to have plenty of time to go for a swim and use the sauna and steam room. The treatments were outstanding . The afternoon tea was good and served in a very nice room with a view and a cool breeze which was great as it was a warm day. Would recommend.

The spa was amazing. The staff were lovely and my massage was outstanding. Facilities were clean. Afternoon tea was very disappointing, very little food for two people. Staff in restaurant were helpful and attentive and served the very little food with a smile.

Overall a lovely time at The Crutherland. I had booked the spa day which included 1x25 min treatment each, access to facilities, 2 course lunch. Pros -Friendly and professional staff -Beautiful lunch -Great treatment -Lovely treatment rooms A couple of things to note: The pool area could do with modernisation (some areas do look a little rough). Also we went on a Saturday morning and there were children's swimming lessons on - not an issue for us, but just so you are aware!

We had booked a treatment, and afternoon tea and it was lovely from the moment we showed up. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. My only criticism was the afternoon tea being served in a large empty restaurant- the waitress was great; but it needed a bit more ambience.

DD&B 50 mins of spa treatments. Great deal. Dinner was amazing. 2 course is in deal with a few supplements if desired. Staff lovely in dining room. Spa treatments were lovely. Therapists were attentive. If i were to add a slight criticism. The spa reception staff were not on the ball. Left us sitting too long after filling screening form. Didn't engage after handing in form. We had to ask after 15 minutes to access pool. We were not personally shown where to go. Staff seemed disinterested. We were directed. No slippers. Grab our own towel. Customer care is not in keeping with the rest of the Hotel staff. However it didn't detract from the stay.
