Stocked with complimentary chilled water and refreshing iced teas, the lounge opens out onto a sun-drenched Lavender Courtyard, letting you take your homemade cakes and glass of chilled prosecco al fresco while you soak up the countryside.

The Byron Whisky Bar

The Byron Whisky Bar is the hotel’s relaxed lounge – and it’s bursting with old-world charm. Enveloped in 50-year-old oak panelling and warmed by a magnificent original Inglenook fireplace, it’s the perfect spot for a morning coffee, a casual lunch or a sophisticated pre-dinner tipple.

The hotel’s beautiful signature restaurant has high ceilings, historic oak beams and a relaxed rustic atmosphere. Here, the focus is on Yorkshire’s finest locally grown and reared ingredients. Upgrading to a Club room or Suite even unlocks The Bridge’s signature arrival tray, complete with a complimentary decanter of Port and Pringles to munch on, while Suites boast their own private Jacuzzis to keep the bubbles flowing.

You’ll find The Bridge Hotel in the pretty village of Walshford in the North Yorkshire countryside. It’s just two miles from the historic market town of Wetherby, so you get the best of both worlds – lashings of countryside with lovely independent shops and cafés nearby.

If you’d like a slower start on the day you leave, late check‑out can be arranged for £25 when arranged in advance with the hotel. Absolutely! The Bridge Hotel & Spa welcomes mini VIPs, although its luxury spa remains an adults‑only zone. Children under 16 can’t use the thermal suite, foot spas or outdoor hot tubs, but families are well catered for elsewhere. You’ll find spacious Family Rooms across the Standard, Club and Suite categories, plus dedicated children’s menus to keep younger guests happy at mealtimes.

Its location just off the A1 near Wetherby means you’re surrounded by brilliant family days out. You can nip five minutes down the road into Wetherby for river paddling and minnow‑fishing by the historic stone bridge – just grab a cheap net from town and you’re all set. For something more action‑packed, Stockeld Park is only a short drive away, offering a giant indoor play barn, outdoor laser tag, a maze and themed adventure playgrounds.

Impressively so, with one dedicated accessible room on the ground floor and several bedrooms offering walk‑in showers. The accessible room features a wide entrance, low‑level switches, water bowls for assistance dogs and a walk‑in shower (though do note there’s a small step up into it), plus grab rails by both the toilet and shower.

Across the hotel, portable ramps can be provided for smoother access to the Courtyard Restaurant, the Byron Whiskey Bar and the Walshford Suite. The accessible toilet is located near the Ribston and the Byron Whiskey Bar, complete with a grab rail and an alarm cord for peace of mind.

Tell Fido to pause the puppy-dog eyes! The Bridge is a pet-friendly hotel, so there’s no need to leave him behind. Well-behaved dogs on a lead can trot in with you to the Byron Whiskey Bar, reception area and outdoor courtyards, and pet‑friendly rooms are available for £30 per dog. That includes bowls and tasty treats – but dogs can’t be left unattended in bedrooms at any time.

This beautiful 18-hole parkland course loops along the scenic River Wharfe and boasts a layout designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie – the legendary architect behind the Augusta National. Because it is a prestigious member’s club, you’ll need to book a visitor tee time in advance, pay a premium green fee and follow their smart dress code.
