About
Soak in a hot tub in a lavender-scented courtyard. Unwind in a historic hotel before setting out for a walk along the beautiful River Wharfe. The Bridge Hotel & Spa lets you do it all in style. Set in the tranquil hamlet of Walshford on the outskirts of Wetherby, this independent four‑star retreat blends Yorkshire warmth with characterful interiors, good food and a dedicated adults‑only thermal suite designed to help you exhale.
Once a bustling 17th‑century coaching inn, the hotel wears its history on its sleeve. But it’s the modern Courtyard Spa that steals the spotlight, drawing inspiration from the healing mineral springs of Harrogate just up the road. Inside the thermal suite, you’ll find a eucalyptus crystal steam room, Nordic barrel sauna, Japanese foot spas and an invigorating ice fountain. Step outside into the hidden Lavender Courtyard for hot tubs in the fresh Yorkshire air, before retreating to a treatment room for a Natural Spa Factory or Germaine de Capuccini ritual.
Staying overnight? The hotel’s 37 boutique bedrooms will be your sanctuary. Standard rooms are spacious, but upgrading unlocks new levels of luxury, thanks to Jacuzzis in the Suites and complimentary decanters of Port on the Club Room welcome tray. Ease into the evening with a malt whisky beside the 250‑year‑old fireplace in the Byron Whisky Bar, or wander to the Courtyard Restaurant for hearty Yorkshire dishes served beneath soaring oak beams.
When you’re ready to explore, The Bridge Hotel & Spa couldn’t be better placed – its position just off the A1 puts the whole of Yorkshire at your fingertips! Wetherby is only two miles away for independent shops, quirky cafés and a spot of old‑fashioned minnow fishing by the historic bridge. Nearby Harrogate offers RHS Garden Harlow Carr and elegant spa heritage, while York’s museums, Minster views and cobbled streets are all within easy reach for a culture‑packed day out.

Tucked inside the four‑star Bridge Hotel, The Courtyard Spa is all about indulgence. Your journey to relaxation begins in the thermal suite, starting indoors with the aromatic heat of the eucalyptus crystal steam room and the applewood and Nordic barrel saunas, which soothe tired muscles and clear the mind long before you even reach the treatment rooms.
You can awaken your senses with the ice fountain and experience drench shower, or submerge your toes in the soothing, bubbly Japanese foot spas. Then, when you’re ready to brave the fresh Yorkshire air, step outside into the hidden courtyard to enjoy a blissful, warm soak in one of their luxurious outdoor thermal hot tubs.
Time for your treatment? Pick something botanical or results-driven from leading brands like Natural Spa Factory and Germaine de Capuccini. From hot‑stone massages that melt away tension to high-performance facials that leave your skin glowing, every ritual is delivered by expert therapists who treat your relaxation as a fine art. Afterwards, slide into a lounger in the relaxation suite to drift off in a post-massage haze.

The path takes you from the Bridge Hotel’s front door, past tranquil water meadows and underneath grand old railway arches, making it a fantastic way to stretch your legs.
If you fancy a slightly longer challenge, the hotel is perfectly placed for joining stretches of the Ebor Way long-distance footpath, offering miles of scenic woodland trails and countryside views right on your doorstep.

Today I arrived at the spa and what a beautiful place it is. The lady a reception went through all the time slots for our spa treatments and went through all the available spa rooms there were. The spa is quiet and peaceful and a nice place to relax and unwind. Our back massage was really good and we didn’t want it to end. We will definitely be back again and I will be recommending it to family and friends who may need a spa day. The spa was very clean and tidy. It has refreshments to keep you hydrated.

Expect dainty finger sandwiches with fillings like lemon‑roasted ham, curried egg mayo, tuna and cucumber, or mature cheddar and pickle. There’s also warm homemade sultana scones with clotted cream and fruit compote, and a daily selection of mini cream cakes and delicate pastries crafted by the hotel’s pastry chefs. Drinks include a pot of Yorkshire Tea or fresh Colombian filter coffee, with the option to upgrade to fizz or a Bucks Fizz if you’re in full celebration mode.
Does The Bridge Hotel & Spa have accommodation?
It sure does, with 37 rooms to choose from. But whether you’ve opted for a spacious Standard room, an upgraded Club room or one of their premier Suites, you will find every modern comfort waiting. You’ll find The Bridge Hotel in the pretty village of Walshford in the North Yorkshire countryside. It’s just two miles from the historic market town of Wetherby, so you get the best of both worlds – lashings of countryside with lovely independent shops and cafés nearby.
Head slightly further afield to Harrogate for spa heritage, the RHS Garden Harlow Carr and elegant Victorian architecture. York is also an easy drive if you fancy a day of museums, cobbled streets and great shopping

Spa package timings vary, so just refer to your booking confirmation for your exact pampering schedule.
Is The Bridge Hotel & Spa family-friendly?
Absolutely! The Bridge Hotel & Spa welcomes mini VIPs, although its luxury spa remains an adults‑only zone. Children under 16 can’t use the thermal suite, foot spas or outdoor hot tubs, but families are well catered for elsewhere. You’ll find spacious Family Rooms across the Standard, Club and Suite categories, plus dedicated children’s menus to keep younger guests happy at mealtimes.
Its location just off the A1 near Wetherby means you’re surrounded by brilliant family days out. You can nip five minutes down the road into Wetherby for river paddling and minnow‑fishing by the historic stone bridge – just grab a cheap net from town and you’re all set. Impressively so, with one dedicated accessible room on the ground floor and several bedrooms offering walk‑in showers. The accessible room features a wide entrance, low‑level switches, water bowls for assistance dogs and a walk‑in shower (though do note there’s a small step up into it), plus grab rails by both the toilet and shower.
Across the hotel, portable ramps can be provided for smoother access to the Courtyard Restaurant, the Byron Whiskey Bar and the Walshford Suite. The accessible toilet is located near the Ribston and the Byron Whiskey Bar, complete with a grab rail and an alarm cord for peace of mind.
Is The Bridge Hotel & Spa dog-friendly?
Tell Fido to pause the puppy-dog eyes! The Bridge is a pet-friendly hotel, so there’s no need to leave him behind. Well-behaved dogs on a lead can trot in with you to the Byron Whiskey Bar, reception area and outdoor courtyards, and pet‑friendly rooms are available for £30 per dog. That includes bowls and tasty treats – but dogs can’t be left unattended in bedrooms at any time.
Does The Bridge Hotel & Spa have a golf course?
Sorry! The Bridge Hotel & Spa doesn’t have its own golf course, but you have two fantastic options nearby depending on how serious you are about your swing.
For a top-tier golfing experience, Wetherby Golf Club sits just three miles away. This beautiful 18-hole parkland course loops along the scenic River Wharfe and boasts a layout designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie – the legendary architect behind the Augusta National. But for a relaxed, budget-friendly game, Spofforth Golf Course makes the perfect pay-and-play alternative. Located just five miles away, this friendly, family-run venue welcomes golfers of all skill levels with a laid-back atmosphere and a no-dress-code policy, meaning you can just have fun.
