Food tastes nicer when you’re wearing a robe – fact! Overlooking the tranquil wellness gardens, the Glasshouse Brasserie offers a bright, stylish space to dine in total comfort. The Coach House Restaurant

With glass walls, natural stone pillars and its own terrace, The Coach House Restaurant is an elegant spot to dine on seasonal British classics. But it also features fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables harvested daily from Ringwood Hall’s beautifully restored Victorian kitchen garden, for a ‘plot-to-plate’ experience that’s second to none. 

Leave your goggles at home, because the award-winning Garden Secret Spa doesn’t have a swimming pool – it has something even better! The kidney-shaped 12m vitality pool comes complete with hydrotherapy loungers, underwater massage ’cages’, a bubbling whirlpool section and a sleek infinity edge that looks straight out into the gardens. But that’s not the only reason you’ll need to pack your cossie.

Step into the secluded spa garden to soak in the outdoor hot tub or brave the cold plunge pool and dramatic bucket drop. Back inside, you can rinse off under sensory experience showers, plunge your feet into the dedicated reflexology jet foot spas, or scoop up handfuls of ice from the ice fountain to awaken your senses after a session in the blossom steam room.

It’s on the outskirts of Brimington, a quiet village just two and a half miles from Chesterfield town centre. A five-minute walk from the hotel gates brings you onto the towpaths of the Chesterfield Canal. This scenic (and flat!) walking route (locally known as the Cuckoo Way) is perfect for a stroll past historic locks and colourful narrowboats.

Hop in the car for 10 minutes and you’ll get to Chesterfield’s cobbled market place, while the legendary Chatsworth House estate is just a 20-minute drive away. Even better, you’re sitting right on the eastern gateway to the Peak District National Park, offering breathtaking hiking opportunities across the famously moody moorlands.

It does, so start packing that little wheelie case. Booking an overnight spa stay at Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa will see you checking in and chilling out in one of 73 boutique bedrooms, in either the main Georgian manor house or the adjacent garden wings. 

Rooms range from Standard and Executive through to Classic, Deluxe and Suites, but every single one comes packed with home comforts, including complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, tea and coffee making facilities and plush en-suite bathrooms.

The main historic manor house has its quirks due to its Georgian heritage, but the hotel has made significant adaptations to ensure an accessible stay, with level or ramped access to most of the main public areas. There’s also a selection of accessible ground-floor bedrooms.

For overnight guests, check‑in at Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa is from 3pm, with check‑out at 11am. If you’re keen to start unwinding earlier, some overnight spa packages allow access to the Garden Secret Spa from 11am – just check your booking confirmation to see what’s included. 

Day and morning spa packages at Ringwood Hall generally begin at 9am, while afternoon packages usually start at 12.30pm. But timings can vary – your confirmation email will always give the most accurate details.

Yes it is, so there’s no need to leave your fur baby at home. Ringwood Hall has pet-friendly courtyard bedrooms complete with dog beds, water bowls and gift packs to make waggy tails feel welcome. On-lead dogs are allowed to sniff out the landscaped grounds, cosy lounge and reception areas, but can’t join you in The Coach House restaurant or the spa. A nightly charge of £15 applies, so they’ll need to start saving their paw-ket money!

Sadly (or not so sadly if you were craving an adults-only break!) the Garden Secret Spa is for over 16s only. However, older teens aged 16 and 17 can book in for a facial or massage, provided an adult tags along to supervise.

Back in the main hotel, children of all ages get a warm welcome, with spacious family rooms, rollaway beds and a dedicated children’s menu at the Coach House Restaurant. The Barrow Hill Roundhouse Railway Centre is just down the road for train-obsessed little ones, while the tropical butterfly houses at the Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife and Falconry Centre are an easy drive away.

The hotel doesn’t have its own golf course. But Ringwood Hall is still a big hit with golf fans, because it sits in a golfing hotspot. You can book a tee time at Chesterfield Golf Club just 10 minutes away, which offers a beautiful, mature 18-hole parkland course with stunning views looking out toward the Peak District. Alternatively, the championship layout at Bondhay Golf Club and the scenic fairways of Stanedge Golf Club are both within a 20-minute drive.
