About
Award‑winning gardens, a five‑bubble spa and oodles of country‑house elegance? Start packing your bag, because Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa is peak pampering perfection. Perched at the gateway to the Peak District, this 19th‑century manor house boasts four-poster beds, cosy lounges and a Victorian kitchen garden that supplies the restaurant with fresh produce each day. But its star attraction is the wellness wonderland hidden within its grounds – the five‑bubble‑rated Garden Secret Spa.
Step inside to discover sheer botanical bliss, from the indoor living walls to the herbal sauna infused with thyme picked from the estate’s own grounds. Unwind in a mood‑lit vitality pool overlooking woodland gardens or try the citrus-scented blossom steam room that clears the senses in seconds. Bespoke massages and facials take place in seven tranquil treatment rooms, and there’s also a Himalayan salt sauna, monsoon showers and foot soaks for warming up after a countryside ramble.
Outdoors, the pampering continues with an invigorating bucket-drop shower, a refreshing plunge pool and a bubbling hot tub on the open-air terrace. Hide away in the exclusive snuggle huts, but when you’re ready to refuel you can sip fizz and enjoy a light lunch at the spa’s stylish Glasshouse Brasserie, before slipping away to the velvety darkness of the sleep lounge for a peaceful afternoon nap. Add the treehouse light relaxation lounge and 29 acres of private parkland to get lost in, and you’ve got a country escape that melts stress like magic.
Just eight minutes from Chesterfield’s town centre, Ringwood Hall is perfect for those who like to combine their spa‑going with a spot of retail therapy. Pretty streets are lined with independent shops, while the town’s outdoor market is one of the largest in the UK. Culture vulture? Soak up the history at the dramatic Chatsworth House or the fairytale Bolsover Castle nearby. To the west, you can get away from it all amid the scenic beauty of the Peak District National Park.
But with its fabulous facilities and luxe leisure, it’s unlikely you’ll want to leave Ringwood Hall’s front door. Sporty types can work up a sweat in the gym, tucked away in the estate’s former archives building. Settle in for post‑spa cocktails and a menu inspired by seasonal British classics at The Coach House Restaurant. And when you’re ready to call it a night, the hotel’s 73 elegant rooms and suites are filled with little touches to make your stay more comfortable.

The Spa & Wellness at Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa
If you think you’ve seen one spa, seen them all, you clearly haven’t tried the botanical oasis that is the Garden Secret Spa at Ringwood Hall. Not only is it tucked away in a private corner of the grounds, its indoor living walls, glass-fronted saunas and panoramic woodland views are designed to bring the beauty of the outside in.
Feel warm to your core in this multi-sensory playground. Submerge yourself in the kidney-shaped vitality pool, where underwater massage loungers melt away tension while you look out through glass windows to the woodlands beyond. Wake up your circulation by alternating between the refreshing mist of the experience showers and the deeply detoxifying dry heat of the Himalayan salt sauna.
Breathe easy in the herbal sauna, perfectly heated to the optimum temperature of 45 degrees and elegantly infused with notes of lavender, rosemary and thyme. Give your feet some much-needed love at the reflexology foot spas, where targeted jet streams soothe tired soles.
Step into the fresh Derbyshire air and continue your thermal journey al fresco thanks to an outdoor hot tub, plunge pool and bucket drop shower. Then retreat to an exclusive Snuggle Huts – heated timber pods nestled right into the secret garden grounds.
The Gym & Fitness at Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa
Like to crunch before brunch? Ringwood Hall has a small but perfectly formed fitness suite set in the former archives building of its gorgeous grounds. Just ask reception for the keypad access code to workout on treadmills and exercise bikes, or tone up with resistance machines and free weights.
Not a gym bunny? Don’t sweat it. You can lace up your trainers and get your steps in by exploring the 29 acres of Victorian gardens and woodland pathways.
When you’re ready to explore further afield, the very best of Derbyshire is right on our doorstep. Head into the breathtaking Peak District National Park for epic hikes or rent a bike to cruise along the traffic-free paths of the Monsal Trail.

Lovely facilities, really helpful, friendly staff, lovely and clean. The only negative was run out of hand soap, shampoo and conditioner in changing rooms. Overall experience really good.

Treatments were amazing. Staff were very kind all across the spa and restaurant. The facilities were all great and looked clean. Relaxing and quiet. Outside facilities were nice too, though due to the weather we couldn’t use them. There were leaves in some of the outdoor facilities due to the weather. For lunch, I did enquire and say that I had a milk allergy beforehand but this wasn’t in the notes in the day - more attention should’ve been paid to this. I had to ask multiple times about what options I could have as they all contained milk on the menu, but I was very quickly catered for. The food portions were massive and good options. I did think it was extremely overpriced for what you get. Facilities were small and the same as other places.

Firstly after booking this we read the reviews and were worried about what we were going to. However the whole experience was lovely the treatment was amazing! The spa yes a little on the small side but wasn’t over crowded and had everything a larger spa would have. Very relaxing! The food was delicious and huge portions! Staff were great. The rooms yes they are dated but it’s a lovey old building soo the dated look goes to the building it’s was lovely! Wouldn’t have wanted or expected anything different in rooms, the large double was very comfy, and the decor fitted with the property. Overall a great experience and we will definitely be returning!

This spa day was bought as a present for my mum and we both had a lovely relaxing day. We both had the double indulgence treatment which we really enjoyed and left us feeling very relaxed. The facilities were lovely and clean and the staff were all very friendly. We would definitely visit again.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa do afternoon tea?
Everything stops for cake and caffeine at Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa, where a traditional afternoon tea is served every day between 12pm and 4pm. You can book it as a standalone treat, but it often appears as part of a Ringwood Hall spa package. Either way, your three tiers of joy will be waiting in the elegant Coach House Restaurant – or out on the terrace if the Derbyshire weather plays ball.
Dainty sandwiches, warm scones and homemade cakes come as standard on the Vintage menu, while the Savoury afternoon tea swaps the sweetness for local cheeses, mini pork pies, scotch eggs and pickles. What really makes the spread special, though, is its provenance. From the cucumber in your sarnies to the seasonal fruit in the preserves, many ingredients are freshly plucked from Ringwood’s own restored Victorian kitchen garden.
Does Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa have a swimming pool?
Leave your goggles at home, because the award-winning Garden Secret Spa doesn’t have a swimming pool – it has something even better! The kidney-shaped 12m vitality pool comes complete with hydrotherapy loungers, underwater massage ’cages’, a bubbling whirlpool section and a sleek infinity edge that looks straight out into the gardens. But that’s not the only reason you’ll need to pack your cossie.
Step into the secluded spa garden to soak in the outdoor hot tub or brave the cold plunge pool and dramatic bucket drop. Back inside, you can rinse off under sensory experience showers, plunge your feet into the dedicated reflexology jet foot spas, or scoop up handfuls of ice from the ice fountain to awaken your senses after a session in the blossom steam room.
Where is Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa located?
It’s on the outskirts of Brimington, a quiet village just two and a half miles from Chesterfield town centre. A five-minute walk from the hotel gates brings you onto the towpaths of the Chesterfield Canal. This scenic (and flat!) walking route (locally known as the Cuckoo Way) is perfect for a stroll past historic locks and colourful narrowboats.
Hop in the car for 10 minutes and you’ll get to Chesterfield’s cobbled market place, while the legendary Chatsworth House estate is just a 20-minute drive away. Even better, you’re sitting right on the eastern gateway to the Peak District National Park, offering breathtaking hiking opportunities across the famously moody moorlands.
Does Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa have accommodation?
It does, so start packing that little wheelie case. Booking an overnight spa stay at Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa will see you checking in and chilling out in one of 73 boutique bedrooms, in either the main Georgian manor house or the adjacent garden wings.
Rooms range from Standard and Executive through to Classic, Deluxe and Suites, but every single one comes packed with home comforts, including complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, tea and coffee making facilities and plush en-suite bathrooms.
Is Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa accessible?
The main historic manor house has its quirks due to its Georgian heritage, but the hotel has made significant adaptations to ensure an accessible stay, with level or ramped access to most of the main public areas. There’s also a selection of accessible ground-floor bedrooms.
What time is check-in and check-out at Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa?
For overnight guests, check‑in at Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa is from 3pm, with check‑out at 11am. If you’re keen to start unwinding earlier, some overnight spa packages allow access to the Garden Secret Spa from 11am – just check your booking confirmation to see what’s included.
Day and morning spa packages at Ringwood Hall generally begin at 9am, while afternoon packages usually start at 12.30pm. But timings can vary – your confirmation email will always give the most accurate details.
Is Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa dog-friendly?
Yes it is, so there’s no need to leave your fur baby at home. Ringwood Hall has pet-friendly courtyard bedrooms complete with dog beds, water bowls and gift packs to make waggy tails feel welcome. On-lead dogs are allowed to sniff out the landscaped grounds, cosy lounge and reception areas, but can’t join you in The Coach House restaurant or the spa. A nightly charge of £15 applies, so they’ll need to start saving their paw-ket money!
Is Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa family-friendly?
Sadly (or not so sadly if you were craving an adults-only break!) the Garden Secret Spa is for over 16s only. However, older teens aged 16 and 17 can book in for a facial or massage, provided an adult tags along to supervise.
Back in the main hotel, children of all ages get a warm welcome, with spacious family rooms, rollaway beds and a dedicated children’s menu at the Coach House Restaurant. The Barrow Hill Roundhouse Railway Centre is just down the road for train-obsessed little ones, while the tropical butterfly houses at the Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife and Falconry Centre are an easy drive away.
Does Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa have a golf course?
The hotel doesn’t have its own golf course. But Ringwood Hall is still a big hit with golf fans, because it sits in a golfing hotspot. You can book a tee time at Chesterfield Golf Club just 10 minutes away, which offers a beautiful, mature 18-hole parkland course with stunning views looking out toward the Peak District. Alternatively, the championship layout at Bondhay Golf Club and the scenic fairways of Stanedge Golf Club are both within a 20-minute drive.
