Yes, it does have a swimming pool, and it's a really rather special one. Originally opened in 1934 and beautifully restored, a geothermal source feeds the pool with spring water flowing in at a refreshing 19.8°C. 

Open all-year-round, it’s absolutely huge at approximately 36.5 metres long. And because it’s all so fresh and natural, there’s no chlorine to spoil that wild-swimming feel.

This quirky, character-filled town is often described as a seaside town without the sea thanks to its arcades, fish‑and‑chips and promenade‑style streets. It’s also home to the famous Heights of Abraham attraction with its cable cars and cavern tours.

The New Bath Hotel & Spa was a wellness retreat long before it was trendy. It began life in 1745, built around a spring‑fed plunge pool that drew visitors to Matlock Bath for its mineral‑rich waters. Back then it was simply known as The New Bath, and people travelled from far and wide to be soothed by its healing properties. 

As its popularity grew, the bathhouse expanded through the late 18th and 19th centuries, eventually becoming the hotel you see today. But the bathing heritage lives on, because the hotel’s historic lido is still fed by the same spring. The original historic bath is still in the basement today, and plans are afoot to restore it back to its original glory. Watch this space.
