About

There’s loads to love about Chester. Roman history, quirky shops, culture - and the recently renovated Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel. Found just two miles from the centre (and right by the park-and-ride shuttle bus), this relaxing retreat has a lavish leisure club, buzzing Brasserie, charming woodland pods and two acres of landscaped gardens. Pack your bags, because this has city break goals written all over it.

Whether it’s the beautiful setting, indulgent food or tranquil pool, a stay here is good for the soul. Grab a huggable robe and drift between the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Feel energised with a workout in the superb gym, take a stroll in the countryside or play one of the giant outdoor games on the lawn. Weather being a bit British? Just borrow a board game and curl up indoors.

When it is time to refuel you’re spoilt for choice with where to go. The contemporary Bar & Lounge is a hub of activity, offering coffee by day and cocktails by night. Head to the light and airy Brasserie for lingering lunches and romantic dining with stunning city wall views. Enjoy private dining al fresco in charming outdoor pods set in the hotel’s gardens.

With a just-out-of-town location, the hotel puts you within a 10-minute drive of Chester Zoo. Discover must-have brands at Cheshire Oaks, the designer retail outlet just a 15-minute drive away. Chester’s dramatic cathedral and Roman Gardens are must-visits. And if you want to travel further afield, Manchester and Liverpool are both within half hour striking distance.

With so much to see and do, an overnight stay will always be a temptation. And overnight guests are in for a treat. A recent renovation project has seen all of Mercure Chester Abbots Well’s 126 bedrooms upgraded with flat screen TVs, LED lighting and colourful soft furnishings. They also feature vibrant artwork by local artist Julie Littler.

Received confirmation from the hotel shortly after booking via SpaSeekers which was reassuring. All the staff are very welcoming, arrived early and wasn't a problem to store cases and to have afternoon tea, lovely fresh sandwiches with a large pot of tea. There is a bus stop near hotel, (park & ride) every ten minutes to take you directly into the city centre. Hotel has a large car park which is the ideal location to Chester. Rooms are large with a section of tea/coffee and was so nice to have a robe and slippers in the room while watching the large size TV. Nice size pool to have a good swim, I recommend having a hot shower in your room as changing rooms showers are run down and small changing area. Best thing was the breakfast, loved the fruit juice choices and fresh cooked breakfast. I highly recommend staying with family.
