I wish! The unrelenting rain is trying to dampen all of our spirits ready for the Olympics but will we let it? I’m afraid to say I’m getting to the point now where I wake up, and listen for the rain. If it’s raining, and it usually is, I snuggle back under the covers and sulk.
We all need a hefty dose of decent weather to lift our spirits, don’t we? We’re trying to think of places we can take Sofia over the holidays but it’s just so difficult when she’s inherited her mum’s dislike of rain. She’s far too young for a spa visit.
If you’re feeling jaded without your sunshine fix, why not fake it until you bake it with a tanning treatment at a spa instead? If you’re planning to unveil your arms and legs at a swanky wedding or a posh cocktail party, and want a bit of browning off, some of the luxury treatments involve a wonderful skin exfoliation to avoid orange elbows or blotchiness, and a gorgeous (non-biscuit-scented) tanning treatment that will leave you at least LOOKING like you’ve been out in the sun, even if you don’t feel its effects yet.
You can try a spa tan at home with Clarins, Fake bake, St Tropez or Elemis self-tanning treatments instead, if you don’t have time for a spa day, although if you’re anything like me, you probably prefer someone else to apply it to make sure you get even coverage, plus I don’t think I’d trust myself with a can of self-tan and a beige bathroom carpet!
If your mood is less than sunny, you could try Vitamin D supplements – the Better You Vitamin D spray tastes of natural mint oil and a couple of sprays should help pep you up if you’re suffering a D-deficiency (we don’t produce it without sunlight).
And in celebrity news – I heard on the grapevine that Katie Price is now qualified as a beautician and can carry out spray tans…uh-oh, the Pink One is coming to a spray tanning booth near you…
