Brilliant. Ashdown Hotel and spa is beautiful and the staff are all really lovely. Treatments food and everything top end. Definitely would live to visit again.
My wife and I each opted for an aromatherapy full body massage which was most relaxing for both of us. Despite a misunderstanding on booking (mostly my fault) the treatments were allocated to us accurately. The booking team were attentive and helpful when I explained what had happened.
My wife's massage focussed on areas of tension whilst mine was more general and in both cases most enjoyable. We both opted for a lavender oil which is for general relaxation.
The facilities were spotlessly clean and welcoming - like the rest of this fantastic hotel. A beautiful setting.
We loved the experience and are looking to repeat it.
Like best - me: how the masseuse made me feel at ease in what I had imagined might be an awkward context
Like best - my wife: the skill of the masseuse in locating tension
Like least - me: the "mood music"
Like least - my wife: people sitting around in bath robes...
I booked the spa half day including lunch as a surprise for my husband (it was his 65th birthday at the end of January). The whole experience was a delight, with extremely helpful and friendly staff. my husband thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, the full body massage was very relaxing and we used all the facilities (with the exception of the gym, those days are past :-)
The lunch which we selected was served on time and was of a very high standard, the full relaxing experience was rounded off with a couple of gin and tonics in the bar. A very pleasant morning which we both enjoyed. Only one minor thing, we could not share the steam room and sauna as they were in the changing rooms for each gender, but this did not distract from the overall experience.
I am 8.5 months pregnant and my friends and I decided to do something together to celebrate our birthdays and generally take some time out before my third is due. We did have a few last minute cancellations and my friends did book their treatments last minute but the staff were able to be flexible and accommodating. The entire day was well thought out and structured, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic time. The staff even went searching as one of my friends lost some items of jewellery, and thanks to their thorough searching and help, my friend went home with it found. I would thoroughly recommend both the mother to be package and the spa creation days they were amazing.
We had a fabulous overnight stay at the Ashdown Park. We arrived in time for lunch and our rooms were available immediately which was an unexpected bonus. Lunch at the country club was good and our first treatments were shortly afterwards..thoroughly enjoyable. Tea and cakes in the lounge and then more treatments then a quick drink at the bar before getting ready for our evening meal. The 3 course meal was amazing. Fine dining it certainly was! I cannot compliment the staff of this hotel highly enough. Every single one that we encountered was extremely friendly and professional and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay here again, with one proviso, that our room was in the main hotel and not in the Fairway Suite next to the Country club. Whilst the rooms were lovely ( we were upgraded to junior suites) and convenient for treatments ( it was a spa package after all) we had to don hats, coats, scarves, gloves and take umbrellas to get to and from the rooms to the main part of the hotel for meals. Lovely on a summer evening I'm sure but not so great in rainy/snowy January. The late night porter drove 2 of us back in a golf buggy as it was torrential! Worth bearing in mind should we go back..and we'd love to!
Showers in rooms need to be checked as the one in our room did not work. There was plenty of hot water for a bath which made it ok. The property is very impressive and the grounds beautiful...... Read more
