When we asked Jenny Jones, Spa Director at our "Feature Spa" to share some knowledge of the history of the building we were not expecting this:
"The St Pancras Spa is Located in the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, one of London’s most iconic buildings. It was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and opened in 1873 as the Midland Grand Hotel. It closed in 1935 and was a derelict building for many years. It reopened as The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in 2011, and our Spa is located in the lower grounds where the Midland Grand Hotel’s kitchen originally use to be. One of our spa features, are our tiles in our pool area, as they are replicas of the original tiles used in the kitchen back in 1873. The beautiful patterns give a very Victorian and atmospheric feel. Even our Peacock themed spa logo is from an original wall painting from one of the halls near the hotels Ladies Smoking Room."
