We had a fabulous series of treatments once we finally found out way into the spa, but sadly had a very frustrating start. When we arrived at Wokefield Park the hotel signage for the spa had been completely covered over by a large event which was taking place in the hotel called Debra, i understand that they need to show people where to go when attending this event, but this meant that we were driving around looking for the entrance and had to go into the main hotel entrance to then be directed to another building, we did mention this to the lady on reception. We had great difficulty parking and were almost late for our treatments as we were driving around for some time trying to find a space. When we eventually arrived at the Spa the alarm then sounded for a good 10 minutes as there was an issue in the chemical room, thank goodness this did not occur mid treatment. After this disastrous start, i am pleased to say it got much better and the treatments we received were excellent.
Treatments were lovely and therapist I had was fantastic at treatments, but their was nobody around to take care of you afterwards. I was told where to go for lunch but no one was their. Had to go back and they had to find someone to serve me, then I got charged for my lunch when it was included. Did get a refund but was then told that I could of had dessert. Then went back to get into spa and card wouldn't read and nobody about to let me in. Had to go to reception to activate card.I my eyes it is more like a salon with some spa facilities.
The therapist was lovely and made me feel very welcome, especially as I was the only guest that day!! However, what let the experience down was the facilities. I was advised to arrive 15 mins before my treatment so therefore went straight into them, rather than using the Jacuzzi/sauna. The spa was advertised as having swimming pool facilities, but this was at least a 15 minute walk (outside) to a different building so I was unable to take advantage of this unless I wanted to get dressed, go outside (in the rain) and have my swim. I had my treatments before lunch, but then had to get dressed in order to have my lunch - in a very large and soulless corporate dining room. Then, if I had wanted to, I would have had to have got undressed again to use the spa. This somewhat defeated the object of a relaxing spa day for me.
The Spa is now well signposted (thanks to earlier reviews). There was no one at reception in the spa itself, but there was a notice on the desk explaining staff were busy giving treatments and gave an extension to ring for assistance. No one answered that call, so we wandered around till we found the changing rooms, the towels in the changing rooms, the Jacuzzi and sauna, but not dressing gowns. The facilities were good, very clean and well-maintained, and the staff when they finally appeared were professional and friendly. We both had massages and they were very good. No face-holes in the massage bed, but the beds were comfortable nonetheless. Our twilight session was from 5-7 PM and we had booked our massages for 6PM but after the treatment we really didn't want to put wet swimsuits back on so would rather have had our treatment at 6:30 as there was nothing else to do there.
I had the twlight 2 package and it is a lovely spa - quiet and relaxing. Staff really helpful and friendly. Would recommend!
