About

Dream of a wholesome escape to a manor house, deep in the countryside? Want to watch the sun go down while soaking in a warm milk hot tub from the comfort of your own private spa? You can do it all and more at the fabulous Sawcliffe Manor Country House.

Feel thoroughly pampered as you reconnect with nature at this gorgeous wellness retreat just an hour or so from the green heart of Lincoln. Set within a fairytale farm estate nestled beside a 400-acre nature reserve, the Grade II-listed heritage manor house boasts quirky and colourful bed and breakfast rooms, plus romantic cottages and even its own towering yurt which can be hired for boho parties and glamorous get-togethers.

Sawcliffe Manor dates back 400 years and the 11th-century beauty is crammed full of history and character (not to mention nine staircases to get lost in). These days, its artfully eclectic design makes you feel like you’ve stepped into the pages of a glossy interior design magazine - think antiques paired with exotic textiles and a liberal dose of vibrant shades.

Interiors are packed with personality. But if you feel like you’ve seen this riot of colour somewhere before, you might just be right. Viewers loved Sawcliffe Manor’s quirky good looks on Channel 4’s Four In A Bed, and fell in love with its owners, the charismatic Elwes family, when they appeared on Channel 5’s Rich House, Poor House.

Outdoorsy types can walk amongst at the wild ponies in the manor’s nature reserve or look for the rabbit warren that’s been designated a site of scientific interest. In fact, all of Lincolnshire’s best bits are within easy reach so getting active in the fresh air is a breeze. The rugged Humber Estuary is nearby, or head to Normanby Hall, a stunning Regency mansion, set in an idyllic 300 acre country park.

Our recommendation, though, is to stay close to Sawcliffe Manor, to linger over the heavenly hampers groaning with locally-sourced goodies and delivered to your door.

But the jewel in Sawcliffe’s crown has to be its natural spa. Breathe in the sweet-smelling air while you indulge in treatments designed for holistic restoration. Bathe in a copper hot tub filled with warm milk and flowers picked from the 17th century walled garden, And the best thing? You’ll get the luxe facilities all to yourselves, making this a wonderful spa for friends and celebrations.

Tiptoe through a private walled garden just a few steps away from the manor for your very first glimpse of Natural Spa. Toasty warm, its filled with fresh water and cows’ milk, along with essential oils, calendula and rose flowers, to make you feel like Cleopatra herself. The lactic acid in milk helps soothe your skin, leaving it silky soft afterwards.

Indulge in bespoke rituals that harness the healing powers of the natural world, using ingredients like honey and clay. Spa kits have been sourced from spa cultures all over the world, combining the very best of what they had to offer. Indulge in hot and cold treatments from Sweden and Beldi soaps made from argan oil in Morocco.

If you’re here for the full spa experience, there’s a giant larchwood tub to sink into as you way to watch the sunset. And if the temperature gets too hot to handle, there’s always the ice bucket shower to try - if you’re brave enough, that is!
