About

Great retail therapy? Check. Incredible culture? Check. A chic restaurant, sumptuous thermal suite and more relaxing Elemis rituals than you shake a bamboo massage stick at? Check, check and check. Manchester spa days offer a perfect blend of sightseeing, rejuvenation and indulgence, so why not pay a visit to the newly refurbished urban oasis that lets you experience them all?

A landmark building with an iconic curved design, Manchester Marriott Hotel Piccadilly is just a stone’s throw from the train station, and a short walk from leafy Mayfield Park. Formerly known as the Manchester Piccadilly Hotel, an eye-watering £33 million has transformed it into the largest 4-star hotel in the city centre. Now proudly waving the Marriott flag, it provides the ideal setting for the most stylish of city spa breaks.

With 338 bedrooms spread across eight floors, you can soak up the views of Manchester’s ever-changing skyline from the comfort of luxuriously large rooms or even top-floor panoramic suites (all with triple-glazed windows making sure the vibrant city is seen but not heard!). The hotel’s smart restaurant serves up brasserie meals in a cool but casual ambience, but the pièce de resistance is undoubtedly the buzzing Greatroom Bar in the lobby - perfect if you’re in town for a celebration or an intimate rendezvous.

But in the unlikely event that the glitz and glamour of one of Manchester’s top destination hotels gets too much, a haven of relaxation awaits you in its spa. Take a journey through fire and ice in the thermal suite, sweat away the stress in the brand new gym or just lie back and enjoy face and body rituals from top-notch spa brand Elemis.

Manchester Marriott Hotel Piccadilly’s superb location leaves you perfectly placed to explore all of the city’s best bits. Art galleries, museums, bars and a tempting range of shops are all within walking distance, and sporting must-sees such as Old Trafford and the Etihad Stadium are within easy reach, as are the bright lights and good vibes of the Northern Quarter and Canal Street.

But when you’re tired of shopping and sightseeing, know that Manchester Marriott Hotel Piccadilly awaits you. Step away from the buzz of the city and into the hotel’s gorgeous lobby. Stop for a moment to enjoy the plush interior design. Then let the tension drift away at this truly memorable spa destination.

Please note: This Hotel operates a cashless system.

The Spa & Wellness at Manchester Marriott Hotel Piccadilly

What’s better than a city break to Manchester? A city break to Manchester that lets you escape the frenetic pace outside by spending a few precious hours in a sumptuous spa!

Leave the buzz of Manchester city centre behind and step into this temple of tranquility. After a spot of sightseeing, there really is no better way to relax. Slip into a luxuriously soft robe and slippers, and pad to the beautifully-lit thermal suite and let your spa experience begin.

There’s nothing like spending time in a hot rock sauna to make you feel instantly more zen, but that’s just the start of your thermal journey. Clear your mind in the eucalyptus-infused steam room, then try an invigorating trip to the ice fountain or experience showers. Toxins have nowhere to hide!

And just when you thought you couldn’t relax anymore, it’s time for your treatment. A carefully curated selection of Elemis treatments offer comforting massages, rejuvenating body scrubs, nourishing wraps and results-driven facials. For the perfect finishing touch, try a manicure and pedicure - you’ll be able to show off your glam new nails in the Greatroom Bar over a glass of prosecco.

Then all that’s left to do is curl up for a while in the zen-like relaxation room. This quiet sanctuary is so comfortable you’ll be tempted to drift away into sheer euphoria.

I visited with a group of friends and we all received the neck, shoulder and back massage. We all came out some relaxed and really pleased with the actual treatment experience. Sadly the facilities weren’t what we expected. With one of the two saunas out of action meaning we were squeezed into the other one, the steam room was cold and barely had any steam, plus due to building works there were no changing rooms but instead one of the hotel rooms (although not private as were with other spa members) and the facilities themselves were small meaning we felt cramps. All just left us feeling a little strange.

Small facilities and construction

The Spa facilities were pretty small. The one sauna was out of order but the rest of the spa facilities were nice. The massage and facial were also good. The construction on site made it all a weird experience, e.g changing rooms were in a random hotel room due to the facilities being revamped. You had to go all around the houses to get to the spa bit (down on lift, then get off, then walk down some more stairs, then go to spa to get key card, then back up some stairs to go to changing hotel room, then back down the stairs to get to the spa again).

For the price we paid compared to all the other hotels that night we got a fantastic deal but would say spa itself and hotel very dated, room wasn’t the cleanest. Staff 5/5 and great massage!
