About

Psst! Have you heard about Frensham Pond Hotel & Spa? It’s such a hidden gem, you might be tempted to keep this Surrey secret all to yourself! This 15th century country house nestles on the tranquil shores of Frensham Great Pond and boasts fine dining, an opulent spa and soothing waterside scenery. All this, and yet this beautiful bolthole is just a short hop and a skip from London.

Even its location is intriguing, particularly when you hear that there’s a sandy beach for romantic walks nearby. A sandy beach? In the Surrey Hills? Well, although it may look like a natural lake, Frensham Great Pond was actually dug out in the 13th century as a fishpond for the Bishop of Winchester. Today you can go wild-swimming in its shallow, spring-fed waters all year round, or just soak up the sun on the beach.

Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Frensham Great Pond and Common are a nature lovers’ paradise and the hotel puts you right in the middle of it all. Explore the history and heritage of the charming town of Farnham. Superb retail therapy can be found in nearby Guildford. Bird World is a must-see, while the South Downs National Park and the world-famous Farnborough International Air Show are both within easy reach.

Overnight stays are always special at the Frensham Pond Hotel, where 53 individually-designed bedrooms await. The gorgeous spa is perfect for relaxation and there’s a 24-hour gym for those looking to push themselves. And when you’re in the mood for elegant dining, the celebrated Watermark Restaurant offers locally-sourced dishes along with gorgeous views that will tempt you to linger for longer.

The Spa & Wellness at Frensham Pond Hotel & Spa

Want to feel like you’ve escaped the world for a while? The waterside boutique spa at Frensham Pond Hotel will really float your boat. With an incredible location on the edge of Frensham Great Pond, its mix of opulent treatments, sleek interiors and soothing scenery will help you gently drift away, for hours and hours of sheer bliss.

Tiptoe away from the 15th-century country house down to this swish and contemporary temple of tranquility. Hit the vitality pool with its energising bubble loungers and thalasso jet, then try out the thermal experience area, with its steam room, sauna and heated loungers looking out onto the pond. Prefer not to mingle? There’s also a ladies-only sauna and steam room in the dedicated changing rooms.

A haven for wildlife, the picturesque views from the spa add to its sense of peace and calm. But for the ultimate in rejuvenation, make sure you take time for a treatment. In five beautifully appointed rooms, therapists offer tailor-made treatments from British skincare brand Elemis, before inviting you to take it easy in the deep relaxation space.

The Gym & Fitness at Frensham Pond Hotel & Spa

Thought an indulgent spa trip meant having to leave your fitness goals at home? Not here! Better pack your trainers and activewear because the gym at Frensham Pond Hotel & Spa is open 24 hours a day. Midnight treadmill session, anyone?

Small but perfectly formed, hotel residents have access to everything they need to create the perfect routine. Work your core on the gym balls, stretch out on the mats, then tone up with the 20kg dumbbells set. Cardio fans will love the cross trainer, or just work up a sweat on one of the treadmills.

Prefer to exercise outside? The hotel has its own jogging trail, along with an outdoor floorwork area for a spot of al fresco yoga.

Beyond the hotel lie several intriguing ways to get your heart pumping. This is a very popular area for hiking, running, and walking, with beautiful trails that are open year-round. Try the 8km circular route that takes you around both Frensham Great and Little Ponds. Moderately challenging, it takes an average of two hours to complete - a great way to work up an appetite for your afternoon tea.

Water baby? If you’ve always fancied trying wild swimming, this could be your chance. The hotel is right on the water’s edge of Frensham Great Pond with two designated bathing areas that are inviting in the summer, but even more magical in the winter (no, really!) You might even find yourself swimming alongside moorhens, mallards and greylag geese.

Restaurants & Food at Frensham Pond Hotel & Spa

Like a spa that pampers your insides, as well as buffing up your outsides? Step right this way. The food on offer at Frensham Pond Hotel is every bit as delicious as the treatments - and just as dazzling as its waterfront views.

Watermark Restaurant

A feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds, the brasserie-style Watermark Restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the pretty pond. And, should all the wildlife surrounding you make you feel a little uneasy about tucking into all the delicious steaks from chargrill, they’ve thought of that too. The restaurant only uses local suppliers who promote animal welfare.

Enjoy attractively presented, tasty dishes such as Thai fishcakes, crispy pork and fish and chips, or enjoy some local cheeses instead of a dessert. Go for a cocktail as an aperitif, then pick something from the extensive wine as you enjoy these elegant yet luxuriously comfortable surroundings.

Indigo Bar and Lounge

For a pre-pamper cappuccino (or a post-pamper Prosecco), head to the Indigo Bar and Lounge. Curl up in a cosy nook next to a roaring log fire, then choose a light bite (or something more substantial) from the tempting bar menu - it’s so snug you may just want to settle in for the night,

Amazing spa and afternoon tea experience

I had a lovely experience at the spa. The ambience was so relaxing and I was impressed with the range of facilities. Plenty of locker space in the changing rooms, a nice pool/Jacuzzi, seating areas, sauna and steam room, and great relaxation rooms. I was lucky enough to arrive when it was less busy and use the facilities in true peace. Jyotsna was so lovely, welcoming and helpful. She made me a nice cup of tea and provided a deeply relaxing full-body massage and facial. Thank you so much! I also had afternoon tea, which was yummy and super filling. I’ll definitely return again.

I met a friend here for an early bird experience. It was blissful, the spa was so quiet with only two other people there. It meant we got to use the facilities and had places to sit. Welcome coffee and pastry was a nice touch. We both had a mini facial which was lovely, wonderful products used. Helpful and friendly staff. We would definitely recommend.

The massage was great, they were very friendly and welcoming. We followed the massage with an afternoon tea, which due to circumstances we were not able to shower before tea. Of course no fault of theirs but not the most comfortable having to get dressed for lunch with massage oil still on. The afternoon tea was nice but a little odd. We were placed in the bar as the lights were being changed in the main restaurant, but we were the only ones in there - very strange atmosphere being so empty. However the manager seemed to be running around like he was extremely busy; he seemed distracted from giving us attention of service. When the afternoon tea was placed down he rushed off without explaining what we had in front of us. Nonetheless it was nice food.Understandably odd times for all, but considering other venues have deals running & are all fully booked up, this venue seemed a little overpriced all in all for the atmosphere and quality of service for afternoon tea, despite lovely spa.

I’ve been to the Frensham Pond Hotel a few times now and I think I’ll keep coming back for many years to come. There’s something about the peace and quiet, the relaxed atmosphere and the friendly people that I really love. The spa is my idea of the perfect retreat, while the restaurant always seems to have something special on the menu. It’s a hotel that’s big enough to have all the amenities yet small enough to still feel like a sanctuary. If you’re looking for somewhere to get away from it all, I’d definitely recommend it.
