About

Dreaming of a top-to-toe wellbeing boost? You’ll find it at Energise Pentney, a spa retreat deep in leafy West Norfolk where every feature has been tailormade to spoil you. Set between Swaffham and King's Lynn, it’s surrounded by tranquil gardens, with views over the countryside as far as the eye can see. Pin-drop peaceful, the only sounds you’ll hear are burbling water features and the occasional moo from the neighbours - some very pretty highland cows.

With a famously warm and friendly atmosphere, this family-run health club is tucked out of the way in lovely flint buildings on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Pentney. There’s two tranquil treatment rooms offering holistic therapies, results-driven facials and beauty treats.

But the big draw here? It has to be the award-winning spa facilities, where a tranquil 12m indoor swimming pool is just the beginning of your journey into bliss. More than just sauna and steam, there’s an aromatherapy room, monsoon shower, herbal sauna, salt vapour room and a best-of-both-worlds saunarium, along with a toasty outdoor vitality pool for those who like their R and R with a bit of vitamin D.

Spa days at Energise Pentney may feel as relaxing as a holiday, but if you did want to make a longer break of it, three cosy holiday cottages await. Just a stone’s throw from the health club, they’re beautiful both inside and out, with log burners, exposed beams and artfully rustic decor. Called Nar Valley Cottages, two of the converted barns sleep up to six people, while the other cottage sleeps four, perfect if a group of you wants to spa and stay together.

Beyond the luxurious amenities, Energise Pentney’s dream location leaves you well-placed to explore the Norfolk countryside and coastline. Both King’s Lynn and Swaffham are just a short hop away, two vibrant towns full to the brim with history and culture. A 25-minute drive takes you to Sandringham Estate, the much-loved country retreat of the late Queen. Or head north to the coast and enjoy a day at Holkham beach.

Whether you seek a serene sanctuary, a romantic escape, or a group getaway, the fantastic leisure facilities and incredible location at Energise Pentney delivers an experience that’s far beyond the ordinary. More than just a health club, it's a spa destination - and it’s one that’s sure to wow you.

The Spa & Wellness at Energise Pentney Health Club & Day Spa

Feeling frazzled? Close your eyes and say ahhhh, because a trip to the sublime Energise Pentney is just what the doctor ordered. The perfect antidote to life’s stresses and strains, its sublime suite of spa, thermal and treatment facilities are just what you need to help you recline, unwind and drift into zen.

First on your relaxation to-do list? It has to be a treatment. Pick from an encyclopaedia of delights that include reviving facials, delicious aromatherapy rituals or luxurious hot stone back massages. Your pampering will take place in zen-like spa treatment rooms, and there are beauty treatments like manicures and pedicures to ensure you float out looking as good as you feel.

Post-massage, a relaxation area with comfy loungers beckons. Take a break and relax with a book or magazine, or just enjoy some quiet time. But your feel-good journey doesn’t end here! Take a dip in the 12m indoor pool, before going on a thermal journey through the aromatherapy room, saunarium, salt vapour room and herbal pine sauna. Finish off with a monsoon experience shower that offers tropical warmth or arctic cool at the touch of a button.

But you really won’t want to miss the star of the show - the outdoor hydrotherapy pool. The jewel in Energise Pentney’s crown, it’s heated to a deliciously warm 36 degrees all-year round, so you can lay back and let the massage jets help you float even deeper into bliss.

The Gym & Fitness at Energise Pentney Health Club & Day Spa

The gym at Energise Pentney may be members-only, but that doesn’t mean you should leave your fitness goals at home. Thrash out some laps in the 12m indoor pool, then let the outdoor vitality massage tired muscles. But if that’s not enough, massages are a real speciality here, so just lay back and let an accomplished therapist with knot-untying no-how work their magic.

Prefer to exercise in the great outdoors? Bring your Fitbit and your walking boots because the leafy village of Pentney and its surrounding countryside are perfect for a stroll, power walk or run in beautiful surroundings.

Take a 2.5-mile circular walk around the village to spot donkeys, chickens, horses and even alpacas. Fancy a longer hike? Another circular walk takes you across countryside and along the peaceful river Nar on a route called the Nar Valley Way.

You’ll get a great view of the Narborough Bone Mill on the opposite bank - it was once used for grinding up bones from local slaughterhouses for agricultural fertiliser.  The mill stopped operating in the late 19th century, but the waterwheel and the foundations of the main mill building remain.

Restaurants & Food at Energise Pentney Health Club & Day Spa

You’ve nurtured your soul at the spa and worked out your body in the gym. Now it’s time to show your tastebuds a little luxury. Energise Pentney sells snacks and drinks to keep hunger pangs at bay while you relax, but you don’t have to travel too far to find something more substantial.

Nearby King’s Lynn has lots of well-known high-street restaurants. But its Bank House bar, restaurant and brasserie on the historic quayside comes highly recommended and boasts stunning riverside views.

If you’re here from Easter to October, the Apple Cafe makes a lovely spot for light lunch or a slice of cake. Seven miles from Energise Pentney, it's set in West Acre Gardens, where the beautiful walled garden has a sculpture by Sir Antony Gormley (creator of the Angel of the North) who lives on the estate.

In the mood for some pub grub? The Bedingfeld Arms in Oxborough is a country inn with great food, and it’s adjacent to the National Trust’s Oxburgh Estate if you wanted to make a day of it. Slightly further away but worth the drive for the atmosphere is The Dabbling Duck, a much-loved gastropub offering everything from breakfast to wood fired pizzas, set in the beautiful village of Great Massingham.

Does Energise Pentney have accommodation?

It does! Spoil yourself after your indulgent spa day by booking into one of the three self-catered cottages at Energise Pentney. Called Nar Valley Cottages, they’ve been lovingly refurbished by their new owners in a homely, farmhouse style. There are three to choose from and they’re all just a stone’s throw from the health club:

The Cart Lodge - a spacious converted barn that sleeps up to six people, with vaulted ceilings, beautiful exposed beams and a cosy log burning stove.
