About
West Yorkshire’s atmospheric Spen Valley is a must-visit for anyone on the Brontë trail. But once you’ve immersed yourself in landscapes immortalised in Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, it’s time to retreat to the fabulous Gomersal Park Hotel & Spa. This leafy hideaway lets you indulge in a Bazaar spa treatment, soak in a mud rasul or just curl up in your robe with a good book in hand – literary classics are optional, but highly recommended!
Elegant and grown-up without being formal or stuffy, the hotel offers 86 spacious rooms ranging from Standard doubles to more spacious Executive Rooms and Signature Suites. Many overlook the parkland, and all come with life’s little luxuries. But don’t linger in your room too long. At Bazaar Spa you’ll find a tranquil indoor pool, a raft of thermal experiences, a bubbling hydrotherapy pool and a serene relaxation lounge. Prefer to pamper in privacy? Book the VIP Suite – a secluded sanctuary with its own lounge, treatment room, steam room and hot tub, for uninterrupted indulgence.
If you’re feeling active, the well-equipped fitness suite has everything from cardio machines to free weights. But if your idea of movement involves fresh air and scenic strolls, you’re in luck. Gomersal is surrounded by countryside trails. Wander to the nearby Red House, once home to Charlotte Brontë’s friend Mary Taylor and the inspiration for Shirley, or explore the Spen Valley Greenway – a peaceful, traffic-free walking and cycling route. Retail therapy more your style? Birstall Retail Park is just a short drive away. But bustling Leeds is also less than 15 minutes by car or bus – perfect for galleries, shopping and a cocktail or two.
But when you’re tired of exploring, Gomersal Park Hotel & Spa wraps you in comfort and lets you exhale. Head to the bar for an aperitif before a delicious home-cooked meal at the Grand Cafe restaurant. Whether you’re chasing literary legends or simply craving a little luxury, Gomersal Park is the kind of place that makes you want to stay a little longer – and come back often.

You’ll have your own dedicated therapist, refreshments on demand, and an ambience of soft music and soothing scents that make switching off effortless.
Treatments range from calming facials and massages to full-body rituals using Bazaar’s own luxe product line. After your treatment, head to the relaxation lounge to sip herbal tea and savour the stillness. This is the kind of place where time slows down – and every moment feels like a little slice of heaven.

We had a lovely evening to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday. Nice afternoon tea followed by the Mud Rasul and a couple of hours in the very quiet spa. The staff were really helpful and we all had a thoroughly good time.

Nice friendly staff. The outdoor hot tubs are a hit. I did prefer the bistro in the spa area rather than the hotel but afternoon tea was lovely. Overall had a fab afternoon.

We experienced a very warm and welcoming arrival. The spa had all we required steam room, sauna , Jacuzzi and pool, however the jacuzzi did get a little busy and we was unable to use it more than once. I had booked for our treatments to be together in a double room, but unfortunately this was missed on the booking so we had out treatments separately. My daughters treatment experience was wonderful, but I felt my message was rushed. The afternoon tea was lovely as there were a good variety of savory and cakes. Overall we had a lovely time and we would visit again.

It does, and many of the spa packages on offer at Gomersal Park Hotel include the indulgence as part of your treat. Themed around the seasons, with extra special options available at Christmas and Halloween, this not-to-be-missed affair includes dainty finger sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream and jam, and a tempting array of homemade cakes, all served with your choice of freshly brewed tea or coffee. Served daily in their elegant lounge, it’s perfect for a moment of calm between spa sessions. And if you’re feeling fancy, you can even upgrade with a glass of something sparkling – because, why not?
Is there a swimming pool at Gomersal Park Hotel and Spa?
Yes, there’s a warm indoor swimming pool, and it’s every bit as inviting as you’d hope. Tucked inside the spa, the grey slate-lined indoor pool is part of a suite of facilities that includes a sauna, steam room, two foot spas and an ice fountain. Relax in the outdoor hydrotherapy pool or head to the two outdoor hot tubs where you can bubble away with a glass of fizz in hand.
Is there accommodation at Gomersal Park Hotel and Spa?

Where is Gomersal Park Hotel and Spa?
Gomersal Park Hotel and Spa is tucked away in the leafy heart of West Yorkshire. Set in its own parkland on Moor Lane, Gomersal, this retreat feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle. But because it’s just five minutes from Junctions 26 and 27 of the M62, it’s perfectly placed for quick getaways from Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Halifax or Wakefield.
But you may not even have to hop in the car to get your sightseeing fix. Nestled in the Kirklees district of West Yorkshire, the village is surrounded by rolling hills and stone-built houses, with a rich past that includes textile mills, Brontë connections, and even a ghost or two. Charlotte Brontë’s friend Mary Taylor lived here, and the Red House Museum (once her home) inspired the fictional “Briarmains” in Shirley.
Is Gomersal Park Hotel and Spa family-friendly?
Great news for those who are trying to escape the kids! The heat and hydro spa facilities at Gomersal Park are blissfully adults-only. However children who are guests at the hotel can have a quick splash in the pool between 8am and 10am and 5.30pm and 7pm.
The hotel’s stylish restaurant serves pizzas, pastas, and burgers, so picky eaters won’t go hungry for long. And both Standard and Executive Family Rooms boast flat-screen TVs with a built-in DVD player – so Peppa Pig marathons are fully supported!
The grounds are great for a wander, but just a five-minute walk takes you to Oakwell Hall & Gardens, a Grade I listed Elizabethan manor house with acres of gardens, play areas and a resident ghost. Or hop in the car and head to Tropical World in Leeds, home to exotic animals like monkeys, parrots, butterflies and turtles.
Is Gomersal Park Hotel and Spa accessible?
It is. There’s a ramp leading to the main reception, and two disabled parking bays right out front. The hotel has one accessible double and one accessible twin, both reachable by lift. The bar and restaurant are fully accessible, with a lift to the main dining area. However, while the spa can be reached via an external ramp, the internal facilities do involve a few steps to navigate.
Is Gomersal Park Hotel and Spa pet-friendly?
Despite its sprawling grounds and tranquil vibes, Gomersal Park Hotel & Spa is not pet-friendly. That means your pooch will have to sit this one out, sadly.
Does Gomersal Park Hotel and Spa have a golf course?
Planning to swap your robe for a nine iron? You’ll need to look elsewhere for your fairway fix. Gomersal Park Hotel and Spa may offer plenty of green space, but it doesn’t have its own golf course. Luckily, Willow Valley Golf is just a short hop in the car, and it welcomes visitors to pay and play.
