About

Cosy up and escape to the country, with a decadent spa break to Stapleford Park. A Grade I-listed mansion surrounded by 500 acres of lush grounds, this rural retreat oozes history and classic luxury - perfect for those with a taste for the finer things in life.

Drive through the rolling estate and let your Bridgerton fantasies commence. Nestled in immaculate Capability Brown-landscaped gardens, your first glimpse of the hotel’s buttermilk stone exterior with its tall Georgian windows will take your breath away. Effortlessly romantic, it’s easy to see why footballer Peter Crouch chose Stapleford Park as his wedding venue.

The A-list good looks continue on the inside, too. Dating back to the 14th century, the decor here is grand, with chandeliers and sweeping staircases set against antique treasures and taxidermy.

If you venture out there's plenty to do on Stapleford Park’s doorstep. Just five miles away lies the market town of Melton Mowbray. Famous for its pork pies and foodie treats, you’ll also discover some excellent shopping. Soak up the history at Belvoir Castle, or head to Rutland Water for peaceful walks and breath-taking views. The buzz of Nottingham and Leicester are both within easy reach.

However, it's highly likely you'll not want to leave the estate. Check-in then chill out in one of 55 sumptuous bedrooms full of period features. The spa has character too. A unique and tranquil haven converted from the original stable block, it boasts seven zen-like treatment rooms along with a high-end gym.

Pad back to the main house (or hitch a ride in a golf buggy) for the pool and the award-winning, elegant restaurant. Or pull on a pair of the hotel’s wellies and stride out through the grounds for archery, falconry or clay pigeon shooting amid lashings of fresh, country air.

The Spa & Wellness at Stapleford Park

A spa experience fit for a king (or queen)? The luxurious Stableyard Spa at Stapleford Park will make you feel like royalty. Tiptoe through the Rose Gardens away from the main house and your journey to VIP pampering begins. Don’t feel like walking? Then your carriage awaits - a golf buggy to transport you door to door.

Set in a lovingly converted 1899 Baroque Revival stable block modelled on the stables of Buckingham Palace, this unique and tranquil haven will make you feel like a real VIP. Pad to one of seven zen-like treatment rooms for indulgent rituals designed to restore, renew and revive you. With a philosophy centred on the power of botanical oils and cutting edge derma-science, heavenly therapies from Temple Spa leave you glowing from head to toe.

Time spent in the Stableyard Spa is a wonderful way to heal the body, soothe the mind and switch off from the rigours of everyday life. You might not want it to end, so extend your visit with a trip to the relaxation lounge, or a long, lingering afternoon tea - and all without leaving the comfort of your warm, snuggly robe.

Back at the main part of the hotel you’ll find an inviting 22-metre indoor pool drenched in natural light and framed by picturesque views. Take a dip, soak up the heat in the sauna and steam room then lay back in the Jacuzzi and feel your stress melt away.

The Gym & Fitness at Stapleford Park

Arrive frazzled, leave re-energised thanks to all the fitness-fostering activities on offer at Stapleford Park. Working out here feels less of a chore on the state-of-the-art gym equipment. And, if you prefer your fitness with friends, there’s a whole timetable crammed with classes to take part in - make sure you pack your leggings!

Not a gym lover? We hear you. Walking and jogging routes let you explore all of Stapleford Park’s best bits, while sporty types will love a knock-about on one of three sand-based tennis courts. Or try a game of boules, croquet or table tennis for a fun way to reconnect with friends while you all get active.

Prefer your fitness of the two-wheeled kind? Whizz around the stunning grounds and parkland on a bike - the hotel hires them for free on a first come, first served basis.

But for those who think fitness should also be adventurous, there are plenty of countryside pursuits on offer. Archery, falconry, clay pigeon shooting, horse-riding can all be arranged for an additional fee - perfect if there’s a group of you looking to de-stress.

Restaurants & Food at Stapleford Park

You’ve restored your mind and body in the opulent spa. Now it’s time to indulge in all the elegant eating and drinking options Stapleford Park has to offer.

The Library Bar

Aperitif before dinner? With a bar this luxurious, it would be hard to refuse. Glam up, head down then sink into a Chesterfield beside a roaring open fire. Portraits and antiques make great talking points as you sip your bespoke gin cocktail. Or just nibble on bar food while you drink in sweeping views over the croquet lawn and countryside beyond.

Grinling Gibbons restaurant

Named after the Dutch wood carver who made the dining room’s intricate panelling,, the magnificent Grinling Gibbons is the hotel’s two AA Rosette-winning restaurant. Vaulted ceilings, ornate plasterwork and artworks make you feel like you’ve stepped onto the set of Downton Abbey. But the food here is just as historic.

Delicious seasonal dishes are made using locally sourced ingredients. The head chef and his team also forage for your dinner around the sprawling estate, such as meadowsweet, oak moss, and a variety of edible mushrooms.

We had an absolutely lovely time at Stapleford Park Spa. We had a one hour treatment each and was so relaxing. I was able to split my treatment into both a facial and body massage - my skin is still glowing from my facial and I have had so many comments! Thank you for looking after us.

My sister and I went for the day to Stapleford Park. What a beautiful venue and location. We loved the way the stables had been tastefully converted. The views and surroundings were stunning. We would have explored more except for the rain! Our treatments were sugar scrub followed by hot stones. I felt it was a little disjointed to have to go and get showered off downstairs halfway through my treatment but it was followed by a decent long massage and so it still allowed for full relaxation - very nice treatment. We had gone on a weekday and it was super quiet which was lovely! We drove round to the hotel for our lunch, which was excellent and very good customer service. We then used the hotel pool for the last couple of hours which was clean and nice. There is a small sauna available and Jacuzzi. Overall we had a wonderful day with super helpful staff and I would recommend Stapleford Park! Thank you.

The setting of the Spa is beautiful, the hotel attached is magnificent. However, the fact that the spa facilities are split between two locations is slightly inconvenient even though we were ferried between in a golf buggy! The wet spa facilities were also rather limited with only 1 small sauna and 1 small steam room along with a pool and Jacuzzi.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Stapleford Park do afternoon tea?

After a morning of pampering, there’s nothing better than nibbling on something delectable. Luckily, everything stops for afternoon tea at Stapleford Park.

If you’re here on a spa package, afternoon tea is served in The Stableyard Spa. Otherwise, you’ll enjoy it in the elegant Drawing Room in the main house, where you can gaze out onto manicured lawns while tucking into a finger sandwich, cake or a scone covered in cream and rhubarb and ginger jam.

Go classic with a cup of something steamy, add the fizz, or mix it up with a dangerously good cocktail or two.

Does Stapleford Park have a swimming pool?

It sure does! Stapleford Park has a fantastic 22-metre indoor swimming pool within the main house, as well as a Jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna. In the warmer months, you’ll find an adjacent terrace makes the perfect spot for some sun-bathing.

Where is Stapleford Park?

Stapleford Park is just under 15 minutes’ drive from the centre of Melton Mowbray in the north east of Leicestershire. If you’re heading here for a day trip make sure you bring your appetite! This bustling market town is known as the ‘Rural Capital of Food’. You can’t leave town without trying at least one Melton Mowbray pork pie or a spot of Stilton cheese – famous delicacies which, thanks to protected status, can only be made right here.

What is the accommodation like at Stapleford Park?

Stapleford Park was designed for entertaining the rich and great of the day on a grand scale - and not much has changed! As such, the accommodation here is both comfy and luxurious. Perfect for romantic getaways, each of the 55 bespoke bedrooms and suites comes with luxurious touches, like a decanter of Stapleford Park sloe gin, warm fluffy bathrooms and Noble Isle toiletries.

Historical features abound too, from four-poster beds to elegant window seats and antique fireplaces. Let’s just say you won’t forget a minute of the hotel’s 230-year history!

What time is check-in and check-out at Stapleford Park?

Check-in is at 3pm on the day of your arrival, and check-out is at 11am. But the fabulously welcoming Stapleford Park wants you to really make the most of your stay. If you’re booked on an overnight package, you can arrive from 11am onwards to enjoy the spa facilities, take a stroll around the grounds, or relax in the lounge. Likewise on your departure day, you can leave your luggage with one of the butlers and enjoy all the facilities.

Is Stapleford Park accessible?

Yes, there are ramps throughout the hotel, and some rooms have accessible features such as walk in showers and grab rails.

Is there a dress code at Stapleford Park?

There is. While shuffling around in your robe is fine in all areas of Stapleford Park spa, the hotel has a smart/casual dress code all times, with no trainers, shorts or collarless shirts to be worn after 7pm in the main house. It’s a good excuse to get glammed up for dinner!

What activities are on offer at Stapleford Park?

There’s so much going on at Stapleford Park no two visits will be the same! And the good thing is, you can do as much or as little as you like. The spa offers treatment rooms, a state-of-the-art gym and fitness studio, while back at the main house you’ll find the ‘wet’ facilities such as pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room.

History abounds in the main house, where taking a short historical tour can stop you getting lost amid the antiques and artefacts. Borrow a pair of wellies and explore the grounds - they’re well worth a visit in their own right. Stroll to the walled garden to see where the chef grows his vegetables and herbs. Stop and smell the flowers at the Rose Garden, before a game of tennis on one of the three sand courts, Or head to the manicured lawns for croquet and boules, or a game of giant chess.

If seeing all 500 acres seems impossible, the hotel hires out bikes for free. On your two-wheeled adventure, make sure you stop by the pretty church on the estate - built in 1783, it's where Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancey said ‘I do’!

Fancy some outdoor pursuits? Stapleford Park lets you take a step back to a time when hunting was all the rage. Get up close and personal with Bernard the European owl or a falcon, or aim for perfect marksmanship at archery and clay pigeon shooting (extra charges apply).

What should I pack for the spa at Stapleford Park?

Bring your own swimwear, gym-wear and trainers so that you can really make the most of all the facilities at the Stapleford Park spa. Plan on exploring the grounds? Don’t worry about the wellies - the hotel will let you borrow theirs.

While Stapleford Park spa is for adults aged 16 and over, children are welcome in the large swimming pool. Situated in the main house, they can splash to their hearts’ content between 10am and 6.30pm. And, if you’ve got a treatment-loving mini-me, they can book an express manicure or pedicure if you stay in the treatment room with them while they’re being pampered.

You can rest assured that the little ones won't go hungry, with special menus just for them for lunch, bar snacks, dinner or even afternoon tea. Kids eat for free from the children’s menu when they dine with you, plus there’s lots of child-friendly activities on offer. Kids can let off steam in the glorious grounds, play giant chess, or try their hands at some outdoor pursuits such as falconry or archery.

Is Stapleford Park dog-friendly?

It is. Dogs are allowed at Stapleford Park, as long as they are really good boys (or girls). Well-behaved waggy tails can stay for £20 per dog per night in the hotel’s allocated pooch-friendly accommodation. You can’t leave them on their own, and they’re not allowed in any of the dining rooms. But, pop them on a lead and they can join you everywhere else!

Does Stapleford Park have a golf course?

It did, but the golf course at Stapleford Park closed in 2020. However there is some good news if you love a spot of afternoon tee. Melton Mowbray golf course is just five miles away and it welcomes visitors from Sunday to Friday, and on Saturday afternoons.
