The Vale Resort & Spa isn't just a place for taking it easy and being pampered – the spa has a thriving golf club and is currently celebrating the success of one of its golfing stars - Rhys Pugh - who recently took the first place in the Welsh Open Stroke Play Championships.
Rhys, who is still only 18, proved more than a match for some of the UK and Europe’s top amateur players and won the Championships with an unprecedented 11-under-par over four rounds.
Rhys thanked the team at the Vale Resort for being really supportive to him throughout his career to date, and for letting him train there whenever he needed to.
Rhys has been golfing since 2002 when he joined the Vale Resort’s Junior Coaching Programme, and last year he became the first Welsh winner of the European Amateur Championships.
Clive Coombs, golf manager at the Vale Resort, said: “We have been proud to support Rhys and follow his career ever since he joined our coaching programme as a golf-mad eight year old.”
As well as some seriously impressive spa packages, including Cupcake spa days and Inspire spa days, the Vale Resort is currently offering a Junior Golfing Package for budding golfers between the ages of 8-18 years. The package gives youngsters free access to the Vale Resort’s Academy Coaching Scheme, more than 50 per cent off the first year’s Junior Membership subscription fee and a copy of the Academy’s coaching manual.
