Are you one of those women who loves to make little ‘tweaks’ to the way your other half looks? Just replacing the supermarket discount brand of shaving foam with an upmarket gel, sneaking a half decent moisturiser into the basket at Boots, buying him new clothes, or suggesting a couples spa day?
I’m not averse to little attempts at getting ‘him indoors’ to smarten up, although in general he doesn’t scrub up too badly of his own accord so I can’t really complain. He’s a bit suspicious of male grooming treatments mind you, and I wouldn’t call him in any way metrosexual. Given what happened to poor Shane Warne once Liz Hurley had got her mitts onto him, though, you can understand why most normal men resist any attempts at being ‘made over’ by their women...
Believe it or not, a survey carried out by Wilkinson Sword recently found that 60 per cent of women think we know better than our men when it comes to the way they look. Scarily, 40 per cent of the women surveyed actually thought it was their job to sort their partner out, and give him a makeover.
I’ve got to say, I think that’s way too controlling for me. But I’m still trying to get him to come with me on a spa break, as there are so many couples deals on, it seems a shame not to. So far, I’ve got as far as “Well, I’ll come with you and maybe I can walk round the gardens while you’re having your stuff done.”
Bannatynes Spa and Health Clubs are doing some great two-for-one spa deals at the moment, and they also have a fantastic Men’s MOT on offer for just £59 – a proper ‘manly’ spa day that includes a 55 minute treatment:
• Stress-a-way massage
• Spirit reviver massage
• Muscle melt massage
• Chakra Balancing
As well as use of the gym, pool and all the other facilities. Great for a Christmas spa gift, don’t you think? And more likely to get used than a moisturiser gift set...
