How aware are you of your stress? Most of us are only too aware of it, but do you actually deal with it? A lot of us deal with the feelings of being stressed-out in less than healthy ways – wine, chocolate, spending too much money….but of course that doesn’t really help because then we just get stressed about our alcohol intake, weight or bank balance as well!
If you’re in need of a de-stressing yourself, don’t reach for the biscuits, reach for your laptop and book a spa break! Yeah, I know, I would say that, but it’s amazing how great you feel after even a mini-facial – the Germaine de Cappuccini facial I had at Clarice House in Colchester did the trick and it was only a half hour one. Or you could go for full on relaxation with a massage too and really bust that stress. Even a session in a spa pool can significantly chill you out, I think it’s the mere act of taking a bit of time out just for you that seems to stimulate those endorphins.
Some UK spas take things even further and cater for stressed out people with days and retreats designed to help you deal with the stresses full on, giving you coping strategies and ways of learning to handle the things that cause you problems. They cover things like relaxation techniques, meditation (I’ve always wanted to get my busy, buzzy head around meditation) and more, as well as giving you a healthy dose of you-time to boot.
A couple worth looking at are the Grayshott Spa spa package which includes aromatherapy massage and a de-stress body wrap, and the Macdonald Hill Valley Golf and Spa Hotel De-Stress and Unwind Day (in Shropshire) that has a gorgeous hot stone or aromatherapy back massage included to help you feel MUCH better. A definite improvement on a big bag of Kettle Chips, I think you’ll agree…
