Someone has to win the fabulous spa breaks and days that we run every single month on Facebook, and it’s always great when we receive feedback from our delighted winners. This week, Sara Friend tells us all about her recent trip to Clarice House in Bury St Edmunds (our July Facebook competition prize.)
Sara opted to take her prize in the run up to Christmas, as she wanted to unwind with her husband before the Christmas rush. As an extra bonus, because he didn’t want any of the treatments that were part of the prize, Sara got to experience no less than FOUR sumptuous spa treatments during her stay!
Sara is a regular entrant to online competitions, and really fancied a bit of a break – being a primary school teacher she was in need of a break after a long, demanding term.
“I was exhausted after a very long term at school and really wanted to be able to unwind properly before Christmas as it involved a lot of driving to see all the family around the country this year. On a scale of one to ten, If 10 means I really, really needed the break, I was definitely a 10!”
It seems that news of the prize came at just the right time for Sara, who was exhausted after a long haul flight when she heard the news that she’d won. “I was ecstatic! I had just arrived in Australia after 24 hours travel and was just picking up my emails so it was a great surprise and gave me something to look forward to when I got back to England.”
Sara told us that she was really looking forward to the food as a highlight of her stay, after having a look at Clarice House’s website and reading about the award-winning menu, and it seems that the food, in addition to the rest of the gorgeous facilities, certainly lived up to her high hopes.
“The restaurant staff were friendly and knowledgeable and catered for lactose intolerance with ease.
“From the moment my husband and I walked through the door, we were impressed by the relaxing environment and pleasant service. Our bedroom was lovely.
“The treatment area was peaceful and the treatment rooms themselves were well presented. The swimming pool looked inviting with its high ceiling with wooden beams. My favourite room was the dining area which despite on-going Christmas parties in the evenings, still felt like part of the relaxing theme of the hotel.”
Clarice House did exactly what Sara wanted it to; her time there lulled her into a lovely relaxed state.
“We both felt completely relaxed after only a few hours at the spa. The highlight for us was the food which was consistently delicious and well presented. The treatments felt wonderful, though I did feel that perhaps a few members of the treatment staff were a little 'cold' in their manner. We really didn't want to come home.
Sara definitely rates Clarice House, and SpaSeekers!
“I would give the spa 9/10, purely losing a point because of the inconsistency with the friendliness of the staff. It was surprisingly easy to get to from Northampton.
“I would consider going again, either with a friend, my mum or my husband again as the normal price for what I enjoyed is very good value for money.”
As a spa-goer myself, the only thing I’d say about the therapists’ manner is that a lot of the time they are led by the client and aren’t sure if you’re there for a relaxing, quiet time or fancy a chat. But we’re really glad that Sara and her husband had a lovely time at Clarice House.
Right now you can get a MASSIVE £140 saving on a two-for-one Deluxe Pamperday at Clarice House, which will now cost you just £70 per person.
