GREAT DAY

Susan Jones, Northwood

THIS WAS BOOKED AS A CHRISTMAS PRESENT FROM MY SON. WE BOTH THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE DAY AND CAME HOME FEELING REALLY RELAXED. THE SPA WAS CLEAN AND OUR TREATMENTS RELAXING. AQUA AEROBICS WERE GOOD AND WORKED US HARD. THE LOCKING SYSTEM FOR THE LOCKERS LEAVES A BIT TO BE DESIRED, OTHER THAN THAT IT WAS EXCELLENT AND ALL THE STAFF FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. FOOD DELICIOUS.

Incredible

Fleur Smith, Berkshire

I could not fault my experience in anyway. Everything was perfect, from the staff, the facilities, the atmosphere, the food! I will definitely be returning and hope to make it a regular thing. My mum and I visited for a spa evening, and would definitely like to stay over night in the future to get more time, and to have time to indulge in some treatments. I have already recommended this to everyone I know! This was given to us both as a joint birthday gift, and I would consider doing this for others in the future and it was perfect.
Thank you for everything!

Lovely Massage

Donna Barrett, Bishops Stortford

I stay at Champneys,Tring several times a year and always request my treatments with Premier Therapist, Joanne. She is undoubtedly the best therapist there and delivers first class treatments with flair and professionalism. She is the only person who can alleviate my chronic neck and shoulder pain. Thank you Joanne. Can't wait to come back!!

Debra Pulford, Cambridgeshire

The booking was so easy and my change of plans were catered for. The telephone staff could not be more helpful and kept in constant contact with me. The whole spa experience was fantastic, venue was lovely with fantastic scenery. Staff were so helpful and could not do enough. The treatments were more than I expected and the therapists were very knowledgeable. I will definitely be returning to this great spa.

Pre wedding wind down

Pam Bruford, Kent

My daughter gets married in 3 months and I wanted to take her away from it all for a day of pampering and relaxation and we were not disappointed, we had the most amazing day. We had 3 glorious treatments, a swim and a face analysis to check we were doing the best we could for our faces, just wonderful every bit. The staff throughout the day were just so helpful and nothing was to much trouble, I can't wait to go back.

Ultra Relaxing Super Spa

Debbie King, Aylesbury

On arrival, we had difficulty finding our room. Signage within the complex was poor and when we asked for directions they were not that helpful. Apart from that, our stay was marvellous. The restaurant food was beautiful and the waiting staff attentive and polite. The treatments were relaxing. The ambience was relaxed and relaxing. I would really recommend the Thalassotherapy pool and the Head in the Clouds treatment. Will definitely return!

Relaxing Jubilee Spa Break

Winnie Wong, Barnet

The facilities are really nice here - it’s lovely to sit & read in the drawing room of the old manor house or also in the music room. There is also a full size snooker table but alas it was always in use when we looked, but we did not try that hard. The spa was very busy during the 1st 2 days & so there were slight delays in getting seated for meals. The food is really lovely & plenty of it. They don't put butter out, only flora, but happily bring it when asked. I had a lovely massage & facial & used the gym every day. We also had a Jubilee BBQ with nicely dressed tables - inside due to the rain alas!

Relaxing, Invigorating, Professional

Tracy Hughes, East Grinstead

Professional service from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. Relaxing, invigorating and escapism day. Treatments were amazing and very good value for money. Very well organised and facilities clean, tidy, comfortable and luxurious (not clinical as some spa's can be) my sister who has never done anything like this before and was very sceptical about pampering herself is a convert after this day - she is begging me to book again. Wonderful experience just before Xmas

Fantastic time had!

Susan Smith, Bedfordshire

My daughter and I visited Champneys at Tring for a spa day, my daughter was just about to go to university for the first time and we wanted some Mother and Daughter time. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We came away feeling relaxed, treated and fantastic. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who wants a little bit of heaven!

All the staff were extremely helpful and professional. The whole day ran smoothly and on time. Only criticism was that after Body Radiance Treatment, it would have been nice to be left for 20 minutes or more to relax. Will definitely go again.

TOTAL PAMPERING

This was a present from my husband just before Xmas, and I must say, from start to finish I had excellent service from staff and total pampering from the several treatments that I had. I would totally recommend a Pamperday to all my friends and family.

Spa Relax Day

Jenny Otto, Buckinghamshire

My spa day was a treat from my sisters in-law, and what a wonderful present. I went to Champneys in Tring and had a great day. The staff were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble and every effort was made so you enjoyed your day. The facilities were excellent and the lunch delicious. Five star treatment!

Great place to relax

jill leslie, herts

The days of Champneys being really special have changed a bit; no more the water/heat/salt scrub treatment and relaxation room 'thrown in' before and after your massage. It was all quaint and lovely a few years ago. Now it is more commercially focused and businesslike, but very lovely nonetheless. Staff were without exception friendly and good at whatever they were doing. It was a pouring wet day so I didn't take advantage of the beautiful grounds and surrounding countryside on walks as I have done in the past. Seems Frank Bruno is always there as it’s his local gym. Liked it a lot, would go back like a shot!

A dream 4 days

alexandra Landeryou, Hampshire

A wonderful and special time for my daughter and me, the weather was fantastic and the upgraded room was so welcoming, doors onto the terrace with two loungers and small table and chairs. The staff settled us into our room and nothing was too much trouble. Tring is a beautiful place; the gardens are extremely well kept and as the weather was wonderful we enjoyed lovely walks amongst the trees admiring the spring flowers. The treatments were excellent, the staff very helpful, explaining what they were going to do and giving advice for products to use. The swimming pool, aqua exercising and ability to swim when we wanted were great. The thalassotherapy treatment was exceptional...de-stressing and very beneficial for any form of arthritis. The food was so good; I could not believe it was created for healthy eating...again staff could not be more helpful. Cannot wait to return, truly a dream 4 days.

A great day out

Julie Doherty, Watford

My sisters and I booked a spa day following the recent sad loss of our mother as we had all been under a lot of emotional stress. On arrival at Champneys we were made to feel really welcome. We were shown where we needed to go for our treatments and where the ‘quiet spaces’ were for relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our facials and massages and the thalassotherapy pool is absolutely amazing. I would have loved to have had more than one session in there! The swimming pool was excellent as well, being bright, welcoming and warm. The food provided at lunchtime was excellent. There was a large choice of hot and cold healthy food and it was very well presented. We will certainly book another spa day or possibly a spa weekend in the very near future. The only negative thing I can say about our whole day is that we had to go home! 10 out of 10 to Champneys in Tring.

Experience to die for!

alexandra Landeryou, Hampshire

A fabulous 3 days spent with my daughter; the bedroom was welcoming, housekeeper beyond helpful and generally a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Everywhere was clean and tidy in seating areas and treatment rooms. Food in the restaurant was of first class quality and staff more than helpful. Large glasses of well priced wine complimented the chef’s creative dishes. Treatments were given and approached by very professional staff, young though they are their quality of care and information excellent. No question was seen as too much trouble to advise on. Walking in the well kept grounds gave time to mum/daughter chats not usually possible. We are already planning the next mother/daughter ‘bonding’ visit and will highly recommend it to my friends. I would not go anywhere else now I have sampled the calm, professional approach at the Tring Health Farm revitalising spa break. Until the next time – Alexandra.

Diana Camden, Chipperfield

My daughter and I went to Champneys as we wanted time to relax and and have a complete 'turn off' ater a bereavement three weeks earlier. The calm and peaceful atmosphere certainly provided this. The treatments made us feel special and we enjoyed our meals as and when we wanted them. It was the perfect way to spend a wet and cold Easter weekend.

A peaceful retreat

Christine Manning, Harpenden

I am not a natural spa-goer and went to Champneys for a weekend alone as my family was skiing. I went with some trepidation, but found the spa to be warm and welcoming, and an easy place to visit alone. The treatments/lessons were excellent, and the food good. All in all it was a peaceful and relaxing experience.

Jane Ridley, Ruislip

I absolutely love Champneys Tring, I spent 4 days there back in May and we (my mum and I) were lucky with the weather and so took advantage of the bikes and walks in the grounds. Beautiful setting, with comprehensive facilities, very helpful and caring staff and the treatments are delightful and make you feel totally special. I would recommend it to anyone!

Destress & Relax in Luxury

Mrs Eeley, Buckinghamshire

Great facilities, easy to join in with a class or attend the gym and swimming pool, the swimming pool area was newly refurbished and is very modern and clean. The staff are friendly and I felt very comfortable attending this spa on my own even at lunchtime where I was invited to join the Champneys table where you can talk to other spa goers. A tip for the restaurant is to order their own filtered bottled water instead of the branded still water which will be added to your bill at the end of the day. Whilst there I had a facial and massage, both treatments were lovely and relaxing and again the staff were really friendly. Very relaxing and refreshing. Thanks to SpaSeekers for their advice on this spa.

Helpful spa staff add to a pleasant stay

Estelle Howell, London

All the Champneys venues I've been to before are welcoming, with excellent facilities, comfortable rooms and attractive surroundings. On this, my first visit to Tring, I was booked on an inclusive package which had a hydrotherapy pool treatment as one of the standard treatments. I realized that having a recent scar I couldn't have the treatment and straight away they found an alternative treatment I could have on the spot. The following day I managed to get the time of my treatment mixed up and turn up an hour late. No fuss, I was offered an alternative time despite the spa team being quite busy. I would definitely go back again.

Great spa evening!

Gina, Herts

We went on the spa evening offer, there were 4 of us. I must say the venue itself is amazing on wonderful grounds. Staff were accommodating and friendly. We had a tour of the facilities, which was good as there was a lot to take in! The place was very big with different spa and treatment rooms, including relaxation areas, coffee rooms and a grand restaurant. The spa facilities were very good and we tried them all. The one we loved was the outside Jacuzzi tub, which was hot. On the day that we went the weather was not that nice, but once inside the Jacuzzi tub, you don't think about the coldness as its such a different experience, definitely recommend it!!! In our spa package, we had included a 3 course meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, however, drinks are not free, which are charged at the end of the night. You can also bring your own alcoholic drink at a surcharge. The overall experience was fab! Would recommend it and will be going again, as it was such an enjoyable, relaxing evening! worth every penny...well done to all the staff and organisers. This is a fantastic deal!!!

The perfect day

Alyson Ainsworth, Milton Keynes

Champneys Tring is a well established spa which never fails to give consistently high standards of service. The staff are exceptionally helpful which helps your overall satisfaction on the day. The schedules meant we could have treatments and some relaxation time which I spent in the quiet room and the atrium which have excellent seats to relax in. The pools are always clean. I have been to many of the Champneys spa's and the food at Tring surpasses them all. There is always a great choice of delicious but healthy food. The best treatment that I had on my spa day was reflexology. I had this at the end of the day and the therapist was amazing. She had been using this technique for 17 years and it was evident she was extremely talented, she gave me a great sense of well being at the end of my perfect day.

Fabulous relaxation experience

Nicola Fu, Wallington Surrey

It was a great day and mum and I really enjoyed it, the treatments did seem cut short on times; 55 minutes became 40-45 minutes whilst the staff wrote up cards, one of the employees did give me 50 minutes and wrote up whilst the face mask was on so felt like I had the full session.

Haven of Luxury

Pamela Waller, London

Pros: Beautiful location. Lots of treatments available. We stayed in a twin standard room in the mansion block. A little small but that was no problem to us. The beds are so comfortable. The staff are very friendly and always greeted with a smile. The food is excellent. Lots of healthy choices that are well thought out.
Cons: Their computer system is rubbish. It need updating. Check your bill before you leave. It's not the staffs fault but we found it confusing as there were treatments that we both had on the same day written on the bill in different dates and we also found a treatment charged twice.
If you want to prebook treatments before you go beware that you are waiting on the phone for ages before you get through and the calls are 7p a minute.

I really did enjoy the stay at Champneys and will definitely go again.

Spa evening

Heather Lisboa, Dunstable beds

Had a great evening with a friend we felt pampered as soon as we walked through the door! The Thalassotherapy treatment was good although it was not completely working and it was meant to be a 25 min session but was only around 15 mins , a bit disappointing. The outdoor hot tub was amazing though it was -3 outside as it was a very cold night but in the hot tub with steam rising off of it looking up at the stars and the moon made for a very relaxing experience indeed. The meal was good and waiting staff excellent , overall it was good value for money and a great way to spend an evening relaxing with a friend in a lovely setting.

A great spa break

suzy goodwin, london

The spa itself is beautiful and the facilities are in very good condition. All the staff are very helpful and pleasant and it makes for a very good relaxing break. My daughter and I booked a number of treatments and most of them were fantastic especially the more unusual treatments. I was a little disappointed when I had a basic facial but that was bench marked against the very high quality of everything else. The food was very good too. We were pleased to find that we could eat good tasting food that was low in fat without feeling like we were dieting. Before leaving I took advantage of the offer to buy a voucher for a return visit at a discount - this time I will come with my husband!

Very relaxing and enjoyable break

Linda Tsoukatos, Waltham Cross

We went on a 2 day spring break for my Birthday. The price was very reasonable as it was not a weekend and well worth the money spent. Everything about the break was very good. The standard of service from the staff, the healthy meals and the professional treatments we had during our stay. The only downside was that a couple of the treatments I tried to book in advance were already booked up. But all in all it was a very enjoyable and relaxing break.

So relaxing

Tracey Allen, Hertfordshire

Really relaxing, which was exactly what I was after, the schedule was also perfect; a free morning so that I could do a gym workout, followed by a Pilates class. Then after an 'energetic' morning and a healthy lunch, I spent the afternoon relaxing and being pampered. Bliss! Would recommend and will go again when I have saved my pennies :o).

Jennifer, Ware

My husband bought me a gift voucher for my birthday for the spa day at Champneys Tring, something I never would've bought for myself due to the price tag, but I enjoyed my day so much I'm now planning on taking my mum and sister! The whole resort was utterly devoted to rest and relaxation and although it was obviously very luxurious I never felt out of place there. The staff were very helpful and even rearranged some of my treatments so I could go to the Hula Hoop class (great fun!). The quiet room filled with duvets and dim lighting was a nice touch in order to chill out after treatments, and I was pleasantly surprised with the thalassotherapy. I thoroughly recommend it and also suggest you go when the kids are off school, I pretty much had the place to myself!

Enjoyable spa break

Ruth Cowlishaw, London

Champneys Tring is a real pamper experience and worth every penny. The building is an impressive as you drive up the main entrance. The staff are extremely pleasant and friendly. I found peace and restoration from being able to relax in such beautiful surroundings, and it never felt busy. The food was exceptional. My only negative comment was that my one treatment I booked was not such a perfect experience as the therapist ran late and therefore my treatment felt rushed. Would I go back again? Absolutely!

Courteous and discrete.

Willa Hallam, Oxon

The staff were accommodating and relaxed in their dealings and communications. I felt the venue to be clean and organised; there was a constant supply and access to new towels. No visible signs of litter or maintenance to distract from the ambience. On our arrival our room was not ready for us, so with a bit of going up and down in the lift with our luggage, we were upgraded (we had to negotiate this quite hard!). A very positive experience, I felt totally pampered too and in the lap of luxury. Because I booked through SpaSeekers I received lots of extra goodies!

Nice but limited facilities

Dani Chalk, Watford

This spa is in a beautiful location, which you can admire from the outside Jacuzzi and outside seating area.
The building itself is very luxurious looking but a bit of a maze!
The facilities available were relaxing and enjoyable.
However, I feel like you couldn't spend a whole day here, there is only one pool, one area for water therapy, one standard steam room, one sauna and a few Jacuzzi.
We went for the evening spa, and after 2-3 hours we felt like there wasn't much else to do!
The included 3 course dinner was delicious, we weren't told before that it was quite a dressy restaurant so we had to go to dinner in the casual clothes we'd arrived in!
The service in reception, spa and fitness areas was fantastic but this was somewhat lacking in the restaurant!
In conclusion, fine for an evening spa but I'd look elsewhere if you want somewhere to spend the day.

Nice relaxing day

David Wolgroch, Barnet

Very nice atmosphere and facilities, staff were pleasant and helpful. Everything worked well. buffet lunch was excellent and more than anticipated. Very conventional approach and facilities if you like this.

Could be a bit more creative in my opinion ( background music, colours and atmosphere. Takes a while to orient yourself around the facility. finally, found several errors on the final bill and noticed that most people do not check but simply authorise. Worth taking a minute to check, I think.

Helpful Feedback on my visit to Champneys

ANN COLEMAN, ST ALBANS

I did enjoy my visit to Tring however I think there is room for improvement - the treatments, the restaurant and the room were all excellent.
I just feel that they need to consider timings more - my checkout time was before my last treatment although they did agree to extend my departure time.
When I queried it when they arrived the lady did not seem to know what to do about it.
I did not receive my newspaper or my early morning call when this was booked at reception.
The chairs out on the patio need cleaning or replacing - they had water marks on them.
The restaurant staff were particularly nice.

Thanks

Ann

Champion Spa

P Woolley, Essex

This was a lovely relaxed spa. Very friendly and clean, food was good and nothing seemed too much trouble, house and grounds beautiful. Service at mealtimes tended to be a bit slow, only fault I can find is the Nutritionist (who had been there years) was very full of herself and overbearing with her views and people tended to avoid her after first talk.

Upgrade of rooms are worth it

jan bramwell, devon

This is a most beautiful, quiet house, with a relaxed scenario throughout. The spa is fun, indoor and outdoor. Rooms are immaculate...and dressing gowns provided. The exercise classes are really good with friendly staff at the helm…The food is delicious and of a high standard, the setting, a lovely airy dining room, complete with outdoor terrace...but overall, we have to say, the food choices are nowhere near as varied and well thought out or superbly presented as at Springs. If anything I would say Springs has the edge here, in 'a spa to return to'...for many reasons, but the house and grounds at Tring are just incomparable. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We hope Tring will address the aqua spa; it is weak and slow; wholly ineffectual. It cannot be considered remedial. There is an additional charge for this experience and it should be inclusive.

Unique, stylish and comfortable

Denise Wilson, London

Lovely rural setting in many acres of landscaped English gardens and grounds, great for cycling and walks; just 40 minutes outside London, fantastic for us Londoners. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. Treatments were professional in particularly Kriotheraphy which was a fascinating experience in cold chambers using dry ice. Simply exhilarating. Average rooms are similar to 4* hotel accommodation, some better than others. A lot of the starchiness has been removed from the dining experience but it retains its quality. Best of all for me is the various dances, yoga, Pilate’s classes etc available and its exceptional spa facilities must be a joy in the summer. I left feeling energised but relaxed. I will be returning for a mini summer break, can’t wait.

Relaxing, energising, heavenly break

Sue Adamson, Liverpool

I visited the centre on my own for a weeks solitude and relaxation, which I had never done before, so was very nervous. I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable the restaurant staff made me feel when I was eating alone. I was encouraged to join a table for dining with likewise people, it was not forced and I could choose each day. Service and professionalism of centre staff was very good, the restaurant staff and food was excellent, the overall environment was what I had expected and exceeded in some ways, very clean. The sports centre staff were very helpful and encouraging. Health talks very informative but informal and fun. The spa staff sometimes let the experience down due to unprofessional behaviour, complaining about workload etc whilst having treatments and showed lack of enthusiasm whilst doing a treatment, which was very disappointing. Overall experience was very good.

Enjoyable in parts!

Francie Smee, Oxford

Champneys did not live up to all my expectations. One of my daughters chose Tring Champneys because it was highly recommended. I was lucky to spend the two days with my wonderful daughters and it gave us time away from the stress of everyday life to enjoy each other and catch up with ourselves. On arrival at Champneys we were not shown either around the complex or to our rooms. I never found my way around the place all the time we were there. We wanted to have a pre dinner drink - this was not available. I was cold in the lounge (fully dressed) and had to drape a rug over my shoulders. The meals were good with a good choice and the treatments were wonderful. The pool was excellent. The aqua fit and walk were both very good too. The bathrooms were shabby. The outside Jacuzzi was wonderful, sitting with snow all around, but steaming in a pool! The steam room and sauna were delightful.

Mum to be

Louise Abslom, Watford

My husband bought me a 'Mother to be Package' for Champneys spa in Tring for Christmas. It was a wonderful gift and I couldn't wait to use it! I decided to book for the first day of maternity leave so I would feel totally relaxed! Booking was easy and the people at SpaSeekers were really friendly. When I reserved the booking and booked for my sister on the same package (she is also pregnant), the experience of the day was very good. The treatment was excellent and the staff really friendly and welcoming, especially considering that they had been snowed in for days!! I would definitely recommend this to de-stress as a mother to be; it was well worth the money. The only negative thing about using the spa whilst pregnant was that other things were limited compared to other spas I have visited. Tring doesn't have too many places to lie down and relax and you can only use the pool when there is no class in progress. This meant that my sister and I were restricted with what we could do as we couldn't use the steam/sauna/Jacuzzi being pregnant. My only complaint came with the fact that when I spoke to people there before arrival about booking treatments I found the person on scheduling to be quite rude and shirty because I didn't have access to the internet to book other treatments as we had just moved house. All the other people were really nice though! Overall, I would go back and would like to stay over, the food was excellent too!

Service a bit slack

Jacq Watkins, Eastcote

Champneys in Tring is situated in a lovely big manor house, with a rabbit warren of corridors and rooms, set in spacious mature grounds. The spa itself was clean and well maintained. My friend and I stayed overnight and took part in an aqua mitts class (lots of fun), had a thalassotherapy treatment (sometimes hard to keep yourself in the right place, need better located handles in some stations) and had a facial and massage (my therapist was very good). The bedrooms were nice, although the TV was tiny and there was no fridge in the room. We also rented a DVD from the front desk, and it was badly scratched so we didn't get to watch the end. Our gripes were that on at least 3 occasions we had to ask 2-3 times for things we had requested, the admin organisation seemed poor. The food was good but we didn't like the 'portion control' plates. I'd probably go back.
